So we started eating at Firehouse in Ames when they first opened, it was awesome. Staff would always greet you with a smile and say something nice like "Welcome to Firehouse" or "Hi, thanks for coming" the food was fantastic with lots of meat on the sandwiches, and the place was clean. STOP. . . . this is not the same Firehouse any longer. . . rude staff, filthy store, and barely half the meat they used to use and small portions over all. I paid close to $35.00 for two 8 inch subs and 2 kids meals and we left hungry and sad. I will not return unless I hear through the grapevine that there is either new management or new staff. I took pictures of how terribly dirty the place was, heck the napkin holders had so much dust and filth on them it looked like they had not been cleaned in at least a month. I had to ask for a towel to clean our table and when he brought it, he put our food down on the dirty table and wiped around them, really?? We will not return.

Ive been here Seven or eight times and it has gotten worse everytime. I will not go back here again. There was one group of people in the restaurant and it took me twenty minutes to get one sandwich and a salad. They messed up the salad, and I had to ask twice for a correction. Four guys working, moving at a glacial pace. Never going back! I have attempted to go through drive through as advertised but there is always a closed sign. I would of given this business $100 in the last few months if the drive through was open. They should put the closed sign up front , but instead make you drive around back. It started well, but as soon as the training staff left it has totally tanked. I was in there as a patron and randomly was asked if I needed a job, they practically begged. Really sad.

This is my second time here (first time inside the restaurant). My receipt is stamped with a time of 12:52 pm and its now 1:10 pm and Im still waiting on my 2 combos. The pop machine has no ice and the staff are working at a snails pace. Many of the tables are full but there are no customers in line. The general atmosphere is good but Im growing increasingly frustrated. I sincerely hope this isnt the norm for this restaurant. I honestly dont know if Ill be back. *Edit* Its now 1:18 pm and we just received our subs. Both are wrong but I dont want to wait for them to fix it so wereally just gonna eat them and move on.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Their customer service was atrocious. The girl at the register did not know what she was doing and took 5 minutes to ring me up. I ordered only a drink and she charged me for a combo. Next, I simply ordered a ham and turkey sandwich with NOTHING else on it. Apparently that is too hard to understand at Firehouse because my sub came out with everything on it. This was arguably the worst restaurant/fast food experience Ive ever had. I would never go back and recommend others to do the same.

The food is great which is the only reason we come back. Weve come in 5 times and 4 out of 5 times the customer service is horrible. Our last visit the drive thru was broken so we came inside. We waited 45 minutes for a to go order. The straws and lids were out. We got home and realized my order was incorrect. Today, the service was so bad/rude and all of the drinks were out in the machine!!! The guests next to us got an incorrect order. I love the food but dislike the service!

Drive through is closed so go inside, and the staff looks displeased with even being there, the prices are a little to high and everyone has had to wait over 15 minutes even for subs that are not heated, this is a lousy experience and I will not be returning nor would I recommend anyone to go to a restaurant with employees with absolutely zero sense of urgency.

The people there were so awesome! Im sitting here mid sandwich writing this before I even forget just so you all know. It was my first time here and they explained how they do things and how things are made and joked around and were super kind and funny! Definitely will be coming back for the amazing sandwichs and service!

I want to like this place. The options and the atmosphere are good. but amount of food one gets for the amount of money spent, not to mention the actual flavor and quality of food, send me elsewhere most of the time... I generally will only go here now if someone else is driving or paying..

Not ideal for a person who only has 1/2 hour to 45 minutes for lunch. Food was great, but it took 20 minutes to get it. The layout of the store is very unorganized; hard to tell where to order, whos in line and whos waiting. Will be back,just not at lunch time.

4th time I ask for extra bacon and cheese and not receive it, I feel like nobody is reading the tickets. I used to do this job its pretty easy. Its not right to get that I get charged for this and not get everything. Im really irritated.

In the wake of a million different sub restaurants, this chain stands out by... having a different atmosphere I guess? Consider it a firehouse themed subway or jimmy johns and you will be delightfully eating average tasting food.

Horrible service. Waiting over 20 minutes for a sub is a little rediculous when there was only one person in line in front of us when ordering. I can see waiting if there was a huge line but there wasnt.

Friday evening and there is 2 staff working. And the food is mediocre and pricey. $37 for 2 combos and 3 kids meals. Will not be back unless the restaurant is cleaned and staffed and better food
