My SO and I came here after a football game, after the dinner rush, because of all the glowing reviews. Service was good at first (we sat at the bar), until our food arrived. My fries were cold and soggy. I was missing guac, and my SOs burger was overcooked, and the staff ignored us from then on. My burger (which was half bacon half beef) was also nothing special. It was blah and dry like an unseasoned turkey burger. No one came to ask us how our food was, no one asked if we wanted anything else. Even when our beer glasses sat empty, no one asked if we wanted another beer (which we did at first). We had to flag down a different waiter just to get our check. I asked to have the guac charge removed, since my burger was missing it, and the waiter didnt believe me that it was missing. (Why would I lie about missing guac?!) We couldnt double check our bill, b.c we only received the total ammount, not the itemized bill. We were able to figured out they didnt remove the extra charge for guac, because we recalled the prices from the menu from memory. Thus, I just subtracted that amount from my tip. Save yourself the trouble and skip eating at this place.

To say the least, I was unimpressed with Brick City Grill. Apparently theyre known for their burgers, but the one I tried was nothing to write home about. In fact, quite the opposite; the "Farmer Brown" burger comes with fried egg, maple cured ham, farmhouse cheddar, a golden fried hash brown, lettuce and mayo, a combo that sounds really good, right? Wrong. They managed to cook the egg until the yolk was entirely solid and tasteless, plus its more than a little obvious that their hash browns come pre-formed and frozen (from Sysco, would be my guess). To make matters worse, they werent even able to cook the burger to the correct level of doneness ("medium" should come pretty standard for a burger joint, but apparently they read that as "well done"). To add insult to injury, service was awful--the waitress we had seemed more interesting in socializing with the rest of the staff than doing her actual job. 2 out of 10, have no plans to ever return and humbly advise that you dont either (at least if you respect your palate).

The service was awful! The burger was soggy and not that great. The waitress had the personality of a door knob, and was actually a bit snippy, expecting of us to spew off our order in 2 seconds, or we were a burden to her. Then to top it off the bun on my burger was so soggy I had to not use it! The "Pizza burger" with pepperoni, had like 4 pieces of pepperoni on it, I would expect at least 2 layers (8-10 slices) to qualify this as a pizza burger. The sauce they used was almost all onions/tomatoes, no real "pizza sauce" in it, so it wasnt very good at all. Then to top it off, we sat there for a good 45 minutes chatting as we are from Colorado and we were visiting a friend while in Iowa, and the waitress had ZERO contact with us, after we signed the check, no refills on drinks (we had water and tea, so nothing even crazy). The place seems nice, but this waitress was just awful, which made the half a** food, even worse.

Ill start with the positive. We decided on this place because it had a gluten free menu. Pretty fair amount of choices on it. I ordered the buffalo grilled chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes. The sandwich was just okay (though I, personally dont feel I should be charged for a side of ranch dressing to go with my sandwich that did not come with the mayo that was listed in the menu description) The mashed potatoes tasted slightly better than instant potatoes and were not evenly cooked. Also, for iced tea snobs, the tea isnt brewed tea. The biggest frustration was the poor service. I have no idea what our waitress was doing but it wasnt checking on us or any other table. I usually tip wait staff pretty well but this young lady only got 15%. The male waitress who was taking care of the table next to us was very attentive to them. It seemed to be a very popular place with patrons of all ages in it but I dont think I would return.

Kind of a low key atmosphere - nothing real outstanding. Good TV sets with typical sports and trivia going on. Good variety on the menu. Very good food quality and preparation. Good prices. What really made the place exceptional for our party was the quality of the service. We had a server who had to put up with 8 of us and the server did everything right. Drinks, appetizers, main courses - all delivered professionally with a pleasant demeanor. Staff was perfectly balanced between serving all needs and not bugging us. Its like they went out and stole the best staff from other places. The cooks were obviously top notch, and the floor staff were outstanding. Dont know if the manager is really wise or really lucky but they have a good thing going on at Brick City the day we were there Friday Feb 26, 2016.

Service was poor. I ordered a hamburger today for lunch, it came out overcooked, dry, and burnt black on the bottom. Its OK, sometimes cooks burn things, no bid deal. I figured I would just let the waitress know and ask for another. I tried for the next 20 minutes to get my waitresses attention, when she finally checked on us, it was time to go. She offered to get another one started, but by then, I needed to get back to work. Honestly the experience was really bad and could have been avoided had our table not been ignored or had she offered to take it off the ticket. Maybe Brick city was once known for great burgers, but with the current staff, I couldnt recommend this place.

My wife and I have been going to BCG for months now and have always had a wonderful experience. We are huge fans of the Wednesday night all you can eat boneless wing special with Blue Moons. Our servers have been attentive and professional, both at the bar and when seated at a booth/table. It can get pretty busy and crowded by the doors when waiting for a table, especially on Wednesday nights, but that obviously speaks to the popularity and quality of the food & service. We plan on remaining regulars of BCG and encourage those wanting a quality, relaxed atmosphere sports bar to come check it out.

Good for the food, but I would not recommend for the facilities. The facilities were dirty: menus, tables, bill bi-fold, floors, bathroom. Between the greased over menus, wet bills, and uncleanly mens room, I expect better of a North Ames restaurant. Our waitress wasnt the most friendly, and she kept obtrusively reaching over our food to refill water. The tables were a little too close together, so improving the floor layout might be nice. All of those negative things aside, the food was very good. I really enjoyed the Jack and Jalapeño burger. And their drink selection is pretty good.

After being voted best burger in Iowa, I had to try it. Hype is sometimes a bad thing for a business and I think that was the case here. Food was good, not great. One person in my party ordered the 40/60 burger and another ordered the plain one. When they came, you could tell the 40/60 patty was given to the person that ordered a regular burger. We tried pointing this out to the waitress and she just looked at us confused, so we let it go. I would go back, but only if it was someone elses idea.
