My two friends and I all ordered the filet mignon and shrimp combination dinners at the hibachi table. The hibachi chef put on a terrific show and cooked the filet mignon, vegetables, and fried rice perfectly but massively overcooked the shrimp. Through some miscalculation there werent enough shrimp and I was only given two instead of eight. The chef assured me that more would be brought out and I was actually relieved as it meant that I would have a chance to have this set of shrimp cooked properly. I asked the chef to cook the shrimp less and explained that I felt the first shrimps were overcooked. Sadly, the second set was just as overcooked. I didnt eat the shrimp as they were tough. I asked to speak with the manager and told her what had happened. The manager took the shrimp to the kitchen for the chef to examine. The chef ate one of them and pronounced it "fine" and said he cooks them that way because to eat undercooked shrimp is dangerous. I have eaten shrimp all over the country and in Europe; I am very familiar with properly cooked shrimp and that wasnt it. I was very disappointed that the manager did not take my feedback in the spirit it was offered, as a chance to re-educate their chef so they dont lose customers because they gave a chef who cant cook shrimp properly. She did remove the cost of my meal from our bill which was nice, but I was really trying to help them improve.

I have been to Kobe a few times with my co-workers during lunch. Mostly uneventful decent food. But today I had a horrible experience. Here is what happened: 1. Went in for lunch with one other co-worker. 2. He ordered Shrimp bento box and I ordered Kobe beef bento box. 3. My food wasnt exceptional but acceptable. 4. Half way into our meal my co-worker found a piece of hair in the food. 5. Notified the waiter and she took it away. He didn want to eat anymore so we declined the offer to re-make it. 6. We chatted and I finished my food. 7. The waiter apologized and gave us a gift card for $9. 8. The waiter gave us the bill. 9. To my astonishment they charged us for the food with the hair. 10. Upon inquiry was told that the gift card should take care of it. Are you kidding me!!! 11. Waiter went back to the manager and came back and took the gift card away and took the $9 charge off the bill. 12. I was shocked at this treatment. Left a one cent tip and left. 13. My co-worker was still hungry so we went to another place. Utterly shocking experience. The manager was inept. Never going there again. YM

I have never made it past the "sushi bar" to the grills and for good reason. The Sashimi! The preparers make every meal an event with outstanding presentation of the food as well as the quality. It can be scary to eat raw seafood but my many visits here have proven that the quality and safety of the food is the main concern, and that is why we eat out after all, is it not? The Wasabi and ginger that is served with the meals is always fresh and will bring a tear to your eye and burn to your nose. My wife and I split the Chefs Choice Sashimi and a sushi roll, ( I would suggest trying the "Spicy Girl") and never leave unsatisfied. If you sit at the bar you also get a bonus, a salad of some type that is amazing. I will ask what it is called next time. Which will be soon. The service is as good as the food. We have never had to ask for a drink refill nor have we had an empty plate sit in front of us. Everyone is very friendly and very helpful. This is by far the best "Japanese" restaurant in the area. My wife and I highly recommend it.

First of all, it takes a lot for me to complain. We had a party of seven for my sons 18th birthday. We printed the $30 coupon online. When we got there we found out he had left his ID at home. They would not honor the coupon, even after I offered to bring the ID in the next day. We should have walked out, but he really wanted to eat at Kobe. Next, we were seated with a family with three young children, one of which was a screaming infant. At 5:30 pm you would think they could give a party of seven their own spot. Instead, they crammed 12 of us into one area ... my wife was actually seated behind the chef. The hibachi chef was the worst I have had (probably done this about ten times in my lifetime). Shrimp and chicken were extremely overcooked and dry. Then, to cap things off, an 18% gratuity was automatically included on my bill. Needless to say, this was my last trip to Kobe. One star is generous.

This restaurant definitely meets and exceeds any expectations of a fine sushi and habachi grill. You definitely get what you pay for and then some. The beef is some of the best beef I have ever tasted. Very tender and trim. Zero fat. The sushi is also very well prepared although it did take longer than usual to get our sushi. I do not understand how anyone could say that this food is just OK. If I had the money, I would eat here every week. Oh by the way, Jerry Rice was there and came to our table to talk to us and take some pictures. I guess with an upscale place that serves food like this, word gets around to VIPs when they come to town.

Minneapolis, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I was able to get a 7:30 reservation on New Years Eve... calling that morning. The presentation at the hibachi grill was average, if not fantastic. The food, however, was one of the best meals Ive ever had. Ever. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth soft, the scallops were huge and succulent, and the smoked salmon in the Philadelphia Roll was perfectly tangy... and thats not even getting into the shrimp, lobster, chicken, vegetables, or fried rice. Its a good thing I live five hours away, otherwise Id be spending a LOT of money here... and itd be worth every penny.

What a rip off. my son loves it, it was his birthday, i will never go there again. it costs twice what we would have paid at super moon buffet. id rather go there not even close. for 7, it was $240!!! Includes soup and salad...and all beverages were water! ha! the salad looked like a salad i would make for a four year old. the soup was broth with some sliced up dehydrated mushrooms... the entre chicken and steak, was basically a 5oz chicken breast cooked til it was dry enough to start a fire, the 4 oz of steak was ok. and some fried rice. RIP OFF!!! about 25 dollars in food for 240.

Server was rude and dismissive. She never asked for my beverage order. When I asked if I could substitute something, she said "no, because then I would have to do it for everybody who asked." She said she went to talk to the manager about it, but those I was at lunch with said she took another tables order and came back. For all the trouble, the food was mediocre at best. Youd be better off going to Big Bowl in Lunds and Byerlys than wasting your money here. Never again.
