2nd time at Thunderhead in Ankeny, tonight 12/22/16 and beginning of November. Both times service was extremely slow. In November we had to hunt down a server. When I found one up at the bar a group of them were standing on their cell phones. When I asked for a server they all happily wanted our table. Tonight we sat up by the bar at a high top. The bartender was waiting on a few tables, never came tp ours even after 3 times of eye contact and gestures to come over. Finally after 15 minutes I flagged down a server, Sarah, who graciously took our table despite her section being the complete opposite side of the building. She did her best. She was busting her hard working butt all night. Drinks and dinner were good. No complaints there. Sarah was so busy bringing food out which seemed like for tables in all sections and the bar. Asked for our ticket a few times and she was almost in tears sorry. I finally asked one of the servers standing at the bar if she could print it and she did. I thankded Sarah and tipped her for her hard work but gotta have morw than 3 servers and a bartender on staff and servers that take care of their sections. As we were leaving the table next to us asked a man cleaning tables who their server was as they had been there 20 minutes and no one stopped by. I said good luck and said Sarah kindly helped us. Maybe we will give it another try but not for awhile.

My party was left waiting for over 20 minutes without so much as a greeting despite having wait staff walk by us multiple times. We walked out, drove across town to another location and had food and drinks in less time than we sat there waiting for a server. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I find that inexcusable.....I wont be going back.

We went late on a Sunday night, around 8pm. They were in the process of cleaning the dining room but were not a pest nor pushy. This is the 2nd time I have been here and the food tasted much better than the last time I was there. I think they have highly improved their food and service. I recommend for a quick bite.

A sign says pease seat your self, so I did and waited 15 minutes. As I got up and started to walk out a waitress finally started coming over to me.. A little to late, poor service. This was on 3/30 4:30pm so it wasnt on an off hour... I would not recommend this to anyone that wants a quick drink or decent service.

They have great ribs and burgers. The chicken fingers will appeal to the kids. They are a bit crunchy and not overly meaty. Grilled chicken and all dinners are excellent however. Cant say much for the pizza, mine was over cooked. They are particularity good at beef and pork. Service is very good too.

Hamburgers were good and $7 Tuesday. Potatoe salad is good. Quick service, but the waitress is odd and impersonal. They started washing the floor and putting up the chairs an hour before closing. Used a huge amount of water so it could be dangerous. Tons of TVs.

Horrible all around. Wait staff was in a bad mood. We asked our waitress to change the channel and she told us she didnt have time. Took 40 min for our food to come out and then when i got it, my burger was burnt. Dont waste your time.

Great service, our waiter was superb! The food was good and very hot! The bartender made a mistake and didnt make my drink right but the waiter was happy to correct the error and removed it from my bill. I will definitely go back

Always happy with the food we get from here. Everyone is always friendly when Ive been in as well. Its nice they take phone-in orders and have it ready for pickup in no time. My favorite is the Chicken Fingers for sure!!

Stopped in New Years eve for early dinner , first time. Excellent food and even better service ! Juliana was attentive and made our stop a great one. She should be training all staff in how to treat customers !

The table service was awesome! The Rueben I ordered was great, except the bottom side got a bit too soggy to eat this as a sandwich. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Didnt interact with the bar service at all.

The waitress was snobby and the food was well, interesting. The Philly cheese steak tasted like watery hotdog. The service was extremely fast though, ten minutes for both meals and an appetizer.
