Went there for lunch around 12:45 on a Friday. Heard some really good things about. There was only one waitress and the place was rather busy. They didnt have their Chicken Twisters that my mom and I wanted to try. Took a while for her to even get our order in. We thought about leaving, but by then they had my order in, but not my moms. She cancelled her order because it took so long. Cheeseburger wasnt anything special. Very disappointed in this place. Probably will try it again for Taco Tuesday.

Music is a bit loud for the average age of the clientele I think. This has always been a more mature crowd. "The Clipper" is one of Ankenys oldest bars, if not the oldest. It hasnt changed much in the many many years its been open. Typical age is 30+ Good place to meet friends. Outdoor patio is nice during the warmer months as the music isnt anywhere near as loud.

Awesome local hang out. Cheap beer and good bar food. Taco Tuesday is very good. Try the American tacos with ham if you havent yet. White Russians are always good here. Typically, there are a lot of smokers outside, so its not the best for someone bothered by that but wants to sit outside.

Service is top notch and one of the reasons I go here for lunch. Food is great too. Can be loud and would not recommend that you bring children here. Expect to find a few very unsophisticated/immature clientele that use choice words only a teenager would appreciate.

Went there to try their famous taco yesterday. Very very good, especially for the price. Not the greatest taco (I like Es Tas in Ames better), but very good all the same. The service wasnt spectacular, but what I would expect in a bar setting.

Every time we go in we get awesome service! The Bartenders are experienced, fun, and QUICK. The atmosphere is exactly what we enjoy. If you havent ever been, check this GREAT Ankeny Bar out! Its one of a kind and you will not be disappointed!

Never had the steak sandwich at The Clipper....told Jackie to leave the bread....Matt cooked an excellent steak rivaling the taste and quality of an Outback cut of meat. Always great food!!!

This place is awesome. A great place if your for looking dive bar with great food. The staff is amazing and very experienced. Taco Tuesday here is the home to the best tacos!
