I use to be a loyal customer at this restaurant. This was my go-to restaurant when I want good sushi or when I want comfort food after a bad day. I use to drive one ands half hours just to eat here, and I have brought my friends with me. But it all seems to be changed recently. Last time my friend had bad sea urchin that caused a bad diarrhea. I thought that was just an accident. I went there again today, and they served salmon sashimi that had CHUNKS OF ICE in it. I asked them about it, and this is exactly what they said -"what do you want me to do about it, microwave it? No body else had problems with it". I mean, I know salmon is frozen, but it is still not the reason to be served as frozen as a Popsicle. In addition, service was horrible. My friends and I have to wait for at least 20 minutes for another pot of tea, and we waited for at least 15 minutes for checks! The server only showed up once to take order, then should up another time to bring checks. We had to get up and grab waitress for water. Im very disappointed, and Im very sad to say that I will never go there ever again.

Everything is great!!!! I love all the bad comments about large groups of people without a reservation and complain that its slow...clearly theyve never worked in the food industry. I would recommend making a reservation even if its just a group of two because they get full quickly! Since its a very small business there are only a few servers! For this far inland, the fish is great and the portions are huge! Which brings up another common complain about fish slices being too large! How can you complain about getting more food for your money?! Its absurd! Also, sashimi has to be frozen to kill bacteria since its not cooked...another common misconception about raw fish! Once you get passed your fish crave though, I recommend the Takoyaki appetizers and for entree, Curry Udon! Talk about comfort food! Dont expect to hop out after that! Cheers and go and enjoy this lovely little spot!

Every once in a while there is food that not only nourish your body and fills your belly. The food at Asaka also nourishes and fills the soul somehow. I left full and satisfied without feeling heavy and weighed down. Prior to this visit I did not like miso soup. Asaka made a wonderful version that I cant wait to have again. The house salad dressing had an incredible depth of flavors. This will definitely be a new regular.... Five months later.. food still rocks, service can be rude and sloooow.

I went early, by myself, and was able to get quickly into the bar seating. i tried to go on my last visit to Indianapolis, IN 46250 and there was some crazy 2-hour wait. er hm, no thanks! this place is really tasty, and that offer some great daily specials. i would recommend going, but just dont be silly and wait 2 hours. there are too many restaurants to choose from to wait like that. it wasnt THAT good to wait 2 hours.bottom line: delicious sushi, but dont wait 2 hours for this.

My family ate dinner here last night (some for the first time), and it was a very good experience. The food was delicious and the presentation was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. I liked the fact the menu had the Japanese translation of each food item, as well. Another interesting thing is they have two pay options. The first one is the regular credit card paying method. The second one is if you pay with cash, you get 10% off of your bill.

An authentic Japanese Restaurant run by Japanese people. If you go during peak-hours (6pm-8pm), be prepared to wait. So it is best to make a reservation! If you do find yourself without a reservation, be sure to put down your name on this pad of paper which keeps track of your party. Take-out is also available for certain items (I got the Japanese Curry). The Miso-soup was a bit off (watery) but everything else was great.

If you havent been here then you should hop in your car and leave right now. Not only are you getting great authentic food but its family ran. This food comes from the heart of Japan. There isnt one thing there I havent eaten that isnt delicious. Besides the food can we talk about the sushi? Fresh, delicious and you are not going to get nigiri anywhere else this big! Once you come ,it will be your go to place!

Very good overall. They were understaffed that day, but the food still came reasonably quickly. I really liked the environment. It looked very "authentic" but all the servers were white girls, which was an interesting twist. I like sashimi but they didnt have many choices. Everything I got tasted great and the portions were good. Prices were kind of high, but as expected for a sushi joint.

This is the place... if your a novice they will help you become an expert.... if you are an expert, you will know this is better than sushi you have ever had before...This is the yardstick that you judge all other sushi. Living in Northern Indiana I have to travel over 50 miles to get sushi. Now I have to go to Asaka... over 130 miles away. It is a trip we will gladly make again....

When I want authentic Japanese food, I go to Asaka. They have great Japanese dishes that other local "Japanese" restaurants dont serve. Being from Japan, its nice to have somewhere that tastes like home. The sushi chef Nina-chan makes sushi look like a work of art. They have great deals such as their happy hour sushi menu plus a bonus discount if you pay in cash.

If I lived in the area, Id be there all the time. Ive eaten at Asaka twice and was blown away. The most recent visit was stunning - Ive never had salmon like that. It was like butter. Absolutely amazing. Enjoyed the miso soup fine, and had several cups of their excellent green tea. The service was perfect. Far and away the best sushi experience Ive ever had.

Stupid place. Ridiculously long waiting time (more than 100min) and slow service. Do not recommend and not ever coming in again ever. If I could give a zero or negative star I would. Food wasnt good as weve had better. The worst part is I got sick and vomited after getting home after dining here. WORST place ever.

Incredibly fresh sashimi and flavorful green tea. Definitely a great place to come for a night out with your friends, or for a great traditional Japanese restaurant experience. The ramen is great, and so is the Udon. They have an wide variety of drinks, and have incredible Izakaya. Totally deserving of five stars.

Went here last night expecting good ramen, and received AMAZING ramen! Ive been to shops in the US and in Japan and this easily makes one of my favorites. If youre ever in the Indianapolis area, and you want great Japanese cuisine, then come here! Great food and amazing staff!
