I will start off with saying that the food tasted very good and my family enjoyed it. We stopped by here on a trip passing through town in the evening Saturday night coming back from IWU. When we arrived we were seated in a booth and I heard the manager say to the hostess "dont sit them there because there is water under the table." We were seated there anyways and I did not think much of it. One of my sons kept putting his feet down on the ground and then bringing them up to the seat like any other four year old would do. He started complaining that his pants and butt were wet and what do you know they were. I finally looked under the table and there was a big pile of water and the booth my son was sitting had water on it. I asked the same manager that made the comment about the wet floor to the hostess if we could move because of the water. She agreed and sent someone out to mop the floor and apologized for sitting us there. No big deal about the water but the manager should not have let us sit there if she knew there was a problem with it. Anyways moving on. We ordered our food and were having a good time. I had to go to the restroom but someone was in there. I had heard the person flush the toilet and then a few seconds later the door had opened. My first thought was that person did not wash their hands because the door opened so fast but I had figured that I was jumping to conclusions and maybe they washed their hands. The person that came out was one of the chefs so I thought surely I just jumped to a conclusion and didnt hear the sink running. I went back to my table with my family and we enjoyed the meal. We spent a decent amount of money on this meal ordering sushi, udon noodles with chicken (which is what I ate), and some other noodle meals. We decided to order a fried banana desert with ice cream which was amazing. My family left there happy minus the water on the floor and my wet kid. Just to finish off this review this restaurant is a couple of hours away from where we live. On the drive home i started to get belly cramps and did not think much of it. We get home put our kids to bed and we went to be ourselves. The next morning I wake up around six in the morning with sharp belly cramps, feeling nauseous, and my whole body is starting to hurt. Long story short I spent the next four hours in my bathroom letting it all come out. I had to get ready as we were surprising our kids by taking them to the Colts game. Let me just say I was miserable the entire day and at the game. So either I had some bad chicken with my udon noodles, I ate what the chef did not wash off his hands, or all this was a fluke and I caught some bug. To add all this to the water on the floor with my kid getting wet when the manager new better, I am not giving a great review to this restaurant. I would like to say that the food did taste very good and there is no way for sure to know how and where I got food poisoning; but considering this was the last thing I ate late in the evening and woke up the next morning feeling this way I feel it is a safe assumption that my food made me sick.

Sipping on some green tea after finishing lunch here. I dont agree with most of the below reviews except that people are nice with good service. The edamame was overcooked and wasnt salted well either. For $18, the quality and quantity of the chirashi (not "chriashi" as misspelled in their menu) was a letdown. One slice of maybe 5 different kind of fish, the imitation crab was the only thing that had more than one piece. The rice was still warm - sushi rice is supposed to be cooled, if handled wrong it can become a health/safety issue. The quality of each fish was borderline, barely meeting average. Again, this is playing with customers health/safety - not very cool IMO. Just to qualify my review, Ive eaten Japanese food - including sushi/sashimi - around the world. I think the below reviews are from locals around Noblesville who havent spent a couple days from bad fish. Keep coming back here and you may get your chance. April 9th update - just had a terrible experience at SUSHIYAMA not too far from here. I was really in the mood for Japanese food so I stopped backed by Kobayashi, more out of desperation. I asked the waitress about the picture in the menu depicting chirashi - same as I had before. She smiled when I asked if their chirashi looked like the photo. After she danced around, I told her to let the chef know about the menu and the picture. With that said, they did a better job than before. Went a little overboard with the yellow pickle but better. Certainly, more customers than Sushiyama - that place was awful. Yes, theres a review that spells it out.

Disappointing that this is the only sushi place in Noblesville. Weve been here several times now and they cant seem to get the orders right. I thought sushi was all about attention to detail, yet every time we order a roll it turns out different. This last time my wife had a to go order for a specialty roll and it was missing 1 of its MAIN 3 ingredients. When I called back to let them know the hostess was rude and had nothing to say beyond, "do you want me to do something about it?"... Seriously? I should have responded with "do you want to keep my business?" but alas I was too irritated and just let it go at that point. I should also mention the prices are high, not to mention incorrectly labeled online. The sushi is mediocre at best (when its actually correct) and not comparable to the price point. The only reason this place is still in business is because there is no competition around. Do yourself a favor and drive to the hole in the wall Asaka in Castleton area on 82nd street. Prices are fantastic, the sushi is amazing and the service spectacular. Obviously we will not be going back. Id much rather drive the extra 20 minutes to Asaka.

Definitely our favorite restaurant! We always get the sushi. Each roll is made to order and absolutely delicious! I also very much enjoy their tea. We usually get: California Roll Mango Tango Kobayashi Dragon Caribbean Caterpillar Tropical This is family owned and operated by two of the nicest people you could meet. They have managed to find the friendliest - and most patient - waitresses as well. Kobayashi is always a fun family dinner for us and we try to go there as often as we can. If youre like us and enjoy sushi and have a larger family, they do take orders in advance to reduce your wait time once youre seated. See you there! あなたの夕食を楽しむ (enjoy your dinner)

Before sushi and Japanese dishes, this location was nothing but terrible BBQ. Now it is delicious and very reasonably priced Japanese fare. The lunch sushi combo is soup, salad, and two rolls of your choice. Expect the norm here, California, Spicy tuna, veggie, etc. The rolls are cut into eight pieces and are very well made. The sweet and sour soup was great but the salad dressing could have used a little more zip. For the price and the quality I am calling this a great option for lunch or dinner. Its not as fancy as Wild Ginger but also much easier on the wallet.
