Ive got three words for you "Spuds Encased Hash-brown"! What? Ive never heard of those but apparently Gail has been making these for 20+ years. Just when I think Ive had every breakfast combination, something amazing like this comes around. So let me explain. They make omelets here which seems normal until you get it encased in a perfectly cooked crispy hash-brown. My delicious omelet is being hugged by a potato blanket. I loved it. This was the first meal I had for 2014 and I was glad I did. We were staying in a nearby hotel where the free breakfast was well free. We didnt want to start our year out like that. So we checked around and were lucky enough to find that Gails was open. How great was that! Open New Years morning in the middle of a snow storm with unplowed streets. If that isnt a sign of perfection, then I dont know what is. I called in our order and I was told to give them 30 minutes. When I walked in at 30 minutes our order was sitting on the front counter ready to go. I paid and was on my way. The inside looked nice and cozy. There were a few people eating inside but it was not crowded at all. Hey it was New Years morning, so Im sure many people were still hanging at home. These amazing omelets are called Spuds. I ordered the original spud which was bacon, onion & cheese. You can not go wrong with an original. It was really good plus I was having bacon in 2014. Happy New Year to me. I would definitely order this again. I am not usually in this area but it is worth a trip. My wife had the veggie version of the Spud. She really liked it also. The spuds came with a choice of side either toast or pancakes. We went pancakes but were so stuffed we could not even eat them. I know I was stuffed like an encased hash-brown. So if you are in the area looking for something that is out of the norm for breakfast, then get in here and try one of Gails Spud creations. You will be happy you did. I cant wait for my next one.

Been eating here on and off for over 15 years!! Consistently amazing! HUGE ... no BS... HUGE omelets with a unique selection of ingredients way beyond the norm and if you choose, they have this unique method of rolling the omlete in potatoe spuds (hashbrowns) and then finished on the grill. Comes out really cool and tastes amazing! Im here today, for the first time in several years... first time since they moved to their new location... and absolutely still consistent and delicious and still excellent, warm, friendly service. Even Gails husband is still right there greeting all the guests. Having an excellent egg soufflé with apple sausage and Gouda cheese! Well done and not dry. Also having a pumpkin pancake on the side. Its light, and not overly sweet, nor overwhelming in the pumpkin flavour! Nice to find a place thats able to be highly consistent over so many years!! Congrats and thanks!!!

I used to frequent this place and love the food until a bad experience recently. On my last visit, I asked for sunny-side-up eggs on my skillet. When I received it, they were literally completely raw on the top side, with uncooked white running all over my skillet like maple syrup when I cut in and, unfortunately, tasted the dish. This would have been excusable if not for a waitress who became indignant and combative and said "thats how sunny-side-up eggs are, cooked one side and raw on the other" and only THEN asked if I wanted something else. I dont know what planet shes from, but where I come from sunny-side-up does not have 3 inches of uncooked white egg around the yolk. Unfortunately, besides this experience, I feel overall quality has gone down here in the past year, and I wont be back. There are many better options nearby.

We were looking for a good breakfast close to OHare Airport and after reading some reviews, decided on Gails. We were not disappointed! I got the oatmeal raisin pancakes and they were DELICIOUS. My husband got one of the Hash Brown Omelettes and loved it, and I got to eat my sons blueberry waffle leftovers the next day and even a day old they were super tasty. The restaurant was clean and the service was excellent. We also really liked the coffee, and we almost never like the coffee at these kinds of restaurants. The menu is enormous - almost overwhelming. But everything sounded delicious and we were very pleased. We will go back!

I decided to come eat here because the reviews were pretty good. Once I arrived the hottest was taking selfies of herself instead of greeting us. Not good. I ordered some scramble eggs with sausage and potatoes. Eggs were horrible. All watered down and potatoes were uncooked. Coffee was bad too. Seriously? I honestly thought the pancakes should be great. Wrong. Not buttermilk. Like they promote it to be. Ugh. Never again. Price is alright. But, why come again?... not worth it. Clean bathrooms for sure. Atleast.

Food is great, however place is not real clean and chairs are dirty and sticky very sticky had to run and wash my hands because syrup was all over the chairs and it happened to my friends also, so lets get it cleaner and I would rate it a 5 star. Also teach your servers to not touch the top of the glasses when refilling where the patron s lips would touch. too dirty for me.

Great local place for breakfast or lunch! The food is excellent and the service is outstanding, even when the restaurant is full and busy. The wait staff is always friendly and they provide great service!! The Hog Wild Spud is one of my favorites or the Bacon Waffle!! I alway recommend Gails Carriage Inn to friends or I take them there for a meal.

Had breakfast with a business partner here and walked away impressed. Wanted a Greek style omelette which wasnt on the menu however the server was very nice made a great recommendation to get me exactly what I wanted. Food was delicious and service was pleasant and timely. Couldnt really ask for more from a breakfast place.

Worst change of ownership ever. I have given this new place quite a few tries. Every single time we go our order is ruined, undercooked.. gross cheap cuts of meat sold as skirt steak in omelette. Any complaint is replaced with an even worse remake with more mistakes than the first. - Dont waste your money or your time

I rarely rate places a full five stars. This place does everything right, though. My girlfriend and I come in here blazed eeeeeeevery weekend, the food is always incredible and the staff tends to us promptly. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves food. (Try the Chorizo skillet or Peter rabbit!)

Wow, a hidden breakfast gem. I used to go to this place as a kid when it was Grandma Sallys, what an improvement. Excellent breakfast food all the way down to the Oatmeal. The Ham off the bone and bacon were awesome. Only knock is that I think the decor hasnt changed since I was a kid.
