I honestly cant believe that there are any bad reviews for this restaurant, but then when I read that they are upset about the portions being smaller than what were used to around this area Im really not surprised. People here dont understand that food is an art form, and the chefs use creativity and quality ingredients to make an experience, not just another meal. If youre going out to eat just because you want a huge meal and dont care how that 1000+ calories of food tastes, dont even bother with this place. We go here at least a few times a month and Ive never left hungry.... ever! That being said this is definitely my favorite restaurant in the area. The menu changes constantly it seems, and the prices are reasonable enough that we are able to dine there quite often. The food is beautiful, and tastes fantastic. I cant think of one thing there that I havent thoroughly enjoyed. Even the macaroni and cheese is in a league of its own-and its just macaroni and cheese! Ive had the lamb shank mentioned in a previous review, and no, it wasnt a huge dish, but the lamb is so succulent and filling that I was not the least bit hungry when I left. On the side of that dish was a squash that was so good. I dont understand how they can make their squash taste so much better than I can; its so simple but so good. The service is very good too, its kind of fun when they come and crumb the table in between courses. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an exceptional dining experience, rather than just another average meal.

My wife and I came in for a special dinner to celebrate my 40th birthday last night and had the most amazing time! It has been a number of years since we last had such a wonderful dining experience. I have worked in the restaurant industry for twenty years and because of this I am often not that impressed when going out, I am normally too busy watching the staff and critiquing to my wife the things that should or could have been done differently, but last night I noticed nothing except my wife, the amazing food and the wonderful atmosphere! The staff treated us like we were family, all were very attentive, quick and professional, and the owners both were very sweet. The food was phenomenal and what Id expect from a chef that was recently nominated for a James Beard award. I especially loved the grilled octopus, the best octopus dish I have ever eaten! The octopus itself just melted in your mouth, and the chunks of portobello had a wonderful, almost crispy sear to them. Also, an excellent wine selection. I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion! Thanks again for the great birthday dinner!

The setting is almost perfect, atop a hillside overlooking post falls and the mountains. We missed the majority of the sunset due to the southern exposure of the restaurant. But we asked if we could go out on the balcony and saw the full colors, one of the best sunsets ever! The menu was a bit surprising to me seemingly more French/Italian I was expecting more typical Parisian options. Still very good selection, meals were full of flavor and unique. The wine selection was ok, we both found a glass we liked but I was looking forward to a fantastic bottle of french wine, only 3 were offered, not really what I wanted. The service was good but not great. They sat 3 tables right with us and we kinda got ignored for a bit. Our waitress was nice but scattered and not very personable. We decided that she was just really tired. The owner was very nice she talked to us for awhile about France and how they came to be in Post Falls. Our whole meal drinks, appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts was $70. Pretty reasonable for fine dining.

Simply amazing food, staff and owners! My first time visiting this restaurant I made a very late last minute reservation on a weeknight. It was that winter when we had a real bad snow storm in 08-09. At first they had said they were done taking reservations. Given the hour of the night I didnt blame them! I was blown away when one of the owners took the time to look up my number on caller ID and called me back. She said that her husband had just taken another table at that time and they would fit me in! That, is service. The food was a culinary delight! Even at the late hour, they prepared a flawless dining experience. It had been a long time since any establishment had made this grand of an impression on me and with each visit the experience is met with the same amazing results. The history and experience behind the chef and this restaurant shows. The view, the entire valley can be seen from post falls to spokane along with the surrounding mountains.

As Post Falls residents (and foodies), one of the most eloquent hidden gems of Kootenai county. Do yourself a favor and dont drive past this experience. You will not soon forget it. With a full bar and incredible wine list that is paired perfectly with their menu, your palate will dance with the flavors you will encounter here. Might I suggest (2) of my favorite entrees: Plats "Not du Jour"- The Boeuf Bourguignon short ribs are by far the best Ive ever had, (a carnivores delight). Savor the flavor! Secondly, the Ricotta Gnocchi, roasted Butternut Squash [YOU MUST ADD THE SHRIMP AND SCALLOPS]. This plate.... Hands down... May be the best pasta w/seafood in the history of the combinations pairing. The melding of the roasted butternut squash in the dish, as well as in the light savory cream sauce, is one that is very unexpected....yet will keep you scooping every last drop of it out of your bowl.

service was incredibly slow, it took over an hour for our orders to be taken even though we had reservations. we were noticeably upset at our lousy service and left a very poor tip for the rude attitude. after leaving the restaurant and our party disbands, the owner calls and yells at us since she got our number when we made the reservation, she was incredibly rude and started telling us a sob story of the waitresses 2 kids. she proceeds to guilt us into trying to go BACK to the restaurant and pay a larger tip. i call the party that tipped and they found it OUTRAGEOUS that an owner would do that. we all agreed never to go there again. I would summarize our trip as slow, insulting, and very unprofessional.

They state they have a $15 corkage fee. I made reservations for our anniversary and told them so when I made them and when we arrived. We called the same day to make sure they had corkage. We brought a special and expensive 8 year old bottle of wine. The owners wife sat us at an incredibly small table and then refused to open our wine saying they have that "brand" albeit a 2005 vintage. We said we had called and no one said there were limitations and she continued to fight with us. It was so unprofessional that we left. She didnt care about our business and her attitude showed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The service was great. The waiter was very attentive. The owner came out to check on everyones meal personally. Everyone was super friendly. Now, about the food. Top rate! Beautifully prepared and presented. This is not casual dining. When you go there (and you should) plan on taking your time. Make it an event. We were there to celebrate a birthday. We wanted a special place that wouldnt be so big, crowded and noisy. This place was perfect. The prices were reasonable too. There were five of us and the bill (without drinks) came to $165 (tip included). I highly recommend Fleur de Sel. You wont be sorry.
