Newly remodeled, Operas inside seating is a LOT less noisy. Though, on a nice day, the outside patio is one of the best way to relax over lunch in Sorrento. The place attracts local French and francophiles, which is always a good sign for a french styled restaurant :) Lately, the menu was simplified with monthly specials (dessert included) and easier-to-read dish titles in English. Youll find great salads and fancy sandwiches with which I recommend that you get their Truffle Parmesan Fries. My all-time-favorite is the Spicy Lamb Sausage sandwich (best known to North African, and French, as merguez.) Opera serves wine & beer and also great coffee to go with those signature pastries (best way to end a meal.) Overall, Opera is a great place to disconnect from the daily drudgery and taste a bit of french savoir vivre. Highly recommended without moderation.

We found Opera Cafe when we were looking for a place to pick up a nice dessert for a friends birthday. We picked up a beautiful chocolate ganache cake with a Happy Birthday on it along with 4 macaroons. It looked amazing, as do all of the desserts in their display case. The staff was amazing in helping us get a cake last minute and were able to put the Happy Birthday on it. Everything was nice. The place was packed on a Saturday morning around 11:00. We would have been back on Sunday, expect that they were not open. This will go into our weekend breakfast rotation!

Everything from the Duck Confit salad to the crepes...to sandwiches are awesome! I eat there a few times per week, and for the price it includes a very fresh salad of baby greens. They know their French food. Yes, the food is prepared fresh each morning and they can run out, but thats okay with me because I have a lot of respect for the chef. They are only open a few hours per day so its always FRESH and exquisite!! I wish they would open a restaurant in Del Mar that was open in the evening, I would be there nightly! Thanks Opera for spoiling my work day lunches!

It was a a real treat to have lunch with my lovely wife here last Thursday in the middle of a busy day.The service here is always incredibly quick even when there is a long line waiting to get in.We chose a daily special on the chalk board inside the front entrance and a couple of hot lattes. Everything tasted quite good as usual. It can get a little noisy with the jets going over regularly but thats a tolerable distraction given the quality of the food here for the price.

Not totally perfect in all ways, but I have eaten here many times and rarely gotten even a mediocre dish. The baked goods (scones, croissants) are just as good as they look, and in the morning they make a terrific (I think its Lavaza?) latte or cap. Only complaint is the new video screen, which I think was a bit of a mistake--detracts from the atmosphere a bit. The overall service setup is a bit odd but the people themselves are nice.

Opera has very good lunch items, Ive been happy with every salad, sandwich, and quiche Ive tried. I think the quiches win for my favorite, though the goat cheese salad is also very tasty. I dont think thats why I come here though. I come for dessert. Fantastic french desserts, all very fancy looking and a bit pricey, but a joy to eat even after stuffing myself full of quiche.

Initially drawn by the amazing almond croissants, my wife and I have been regularly visiting this place for the last year. Today was the first time we ordered lunch and honestly, I havent had a better lunch experience in months. I highly recommend the beef tenderloin steak sandwich and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the seafood crepes (monthly special).

Pretty much anything you get here is fantastic, seriously! Ive had salads, paninis, quiches, crepes, and it is all wonderful. Obviously their desserts are incredible with some very interesting flavors. Salmon is always cooked perfectly and their champagne vinaigrette is delicious...come here for lunch!

I tried this place specifically for they croissants, as i heard some good things about them. I had all 3 variates - plain, chocolate and almond. And i can honestly tell you they are hands down one of the best croissants i have ever had. Excellent balance between puffiness and crispness

Opera makes fresh, gourmet desserts and entrees for any taste. The macaroons are very delicious! The vanilla bean, chocolate, raspberry, and salted caramel are favorites. They have a nice assortment of gluten free desserts, in addition to a full breakfast and lunch menu.

I love this place! Best macaroons ever!!! I was able to try this place last year because I was attending Bakeshop classes and our pastry chef took us here. She gave us a box of the macaroons and couldnt believe how awesome they tasted. By far the best place!!!

Good breakfast and lunch spot. I like the quiche and croque items the most. Seafood crepe, salmon, and ahi tartine are honorable mentions. Lots of sandwich and salad options. They have good desert too.

Very French and very delicious. The portions are on the smaller (but probably more appropriate) side, so dont come here if youre really hungry. I love the fresh side salad that comes with everything.

Their QUICHE is light and delicate yet delicious and filling! Many people enjoy the STEAK BRIE, so if you like steak thats a must. This is a great lunch spot with high quality food and service.

Turns out the sandwiches are made at a warehouse and simply heated before serving. Absolutely no changes can be made to them at the restaurant. Thus the gourmet food at fast food speed. No thanks.

This busy little bakery in San Diego had a waiting line out the door when we got there but they move people thru pretty quickly and rewarded us with some tasty pastries. Well worth the wait!

This is always a great place to grab a gourmet sandwich or other lunch dish. Fries are awesome, and side salads are also great. It gets REALLY busy at lunchtime so be prepared.

This business is disorganized and slow and overpriced. I cant understand their slow pace as they have tons of employees But some are just standing around. Puzzling to be sure.

The seafood crepe is the best in town, and the champagne shallot vinegrette on the accompanying side salad is fabulous. This is one of my favorite lunch spots.

Great food. Love the quiche and salad combo. Something fun and different for lunch. The parking lot is small and busy. Get there early, if possible

An all around awesome lunch place. Great food but a little pricey. The quiche and Croque Monsieur are amazing and the desserts are spectacular.

Great food, had the steak salad and order of truffle fries. I think it priced more like a restaurant, so plan to pay a little more for lunch.
