Im not a big complainer, I myself have served and worked in a restaurant, but this was unacceptable and poor beyond reason. The service, was horrible. The waitress barely knew the menu, spoke with out confidence in the menu and/or herself, was slow and barely left any decent form of an impression. Our hibachi cooker, was even worse, spoke no English, and upon double checking our tables order, neglected two women, who he had it written down for, and ignored their requests to get his attention and instead focused on cooking. He forgot my rice, the only steamed rice I asked for. My boyfriends rice was fried, if youd call it that... Undercooked, still hard, had no flavor, I took a bite and lost my apetite completely. In addition, the two women almost left, only to be ushered back by the manager who bribed them with free drinks. Another couple who had ordered the seafood special, the hibachi cook could not even comprehend/repeat back what he had ordered. A lack of communication between the server and the cook himself. I also noticed the staff messed up two other couples orders with sushi, however I could not hear what exactly. The food, I had hoped would make up for the lack of service, however I was pretty disappointed to find that the chicken not only tasted pretty bland. In addition, whether it was the ginger dressing and/or food, my boyfriend was sick afterwards and had to go buy hi tums to help his stomach. Overall, pretty bad experience if you ask me. I do know that my boyfriend had been there once before and had no complaints from the actual dining room, but as a hibachi grill, this fell far from by any means okay.

VERY BEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!!! This is my one and only review I will probably ever put. The reason: I see alot of bad reviews and I completely disagree. I travel and have eaten at many Japanese steakhouse and not only is this the best Japanese but the BEST overall!! Where do I start? Genuine and VERY nice staff. Awesome setting inside with quiet music playing and the sound of water in the background. But the best part is the food. All the meat is cooked perfectly so its tender and juicy. They have the tastiest seafood sauce and the best hibachi grill show I have seen. Even if you sit at the regular tables the atmosphere is very nice. I just love it. Dinners start about 12 or 13 bucks a person. Not bad for the deliciousness =) I have no idea why it gets rated so low. some people cant be pleased. but this is a restaurant that reminds me of the kind of place you might find in downtown St Augustine or another tourist area. Its wonderful to have a place to escape right down the road. And FYI my wife feels the same way. When we want to go somewhere nice we dont go to red lobster, where prices are similar and you leave hungry, we go to Ichiban where you bring home a box of delicious leftovers. My recommendations: get the seafood sauce for the salad dressing. Its similar to thousand island except a thousand times better. I just ate there tonight and cant wait to go back. Very few restaurants of this caliber in the southeast!!! Disclaimer: I dont eat sushi so no coment on that

This happens to be a former employee who was working at Ichiban AFTER it was sold to Mae Jung. I was hired by Mae Gung. I am not using my real name if anyone is asking. I happen to be a former employee of Ichiban in 2013. The owner is rude, the other employees were rude and lazy, they were rude all around. I tried to make my first work experience as grand as possible, but with the drama and accusations, it was doomed for. The servers were snobby and cussed at the customers behind there backs to where they would hear what they were saying and turn around and laugh about it. The food was terrible, I ate there several times and had gotten sick every time. I have brought home food several times that I bought and it made my family sick as well. There were cockroaches crawling everywhere. I could not tell you how many I have killed. The grade of the restaurant says A, but the place should be closed down. I looked at the grade sheet that was pointed out to me by another former employee that the time on the sheet, clocked in at 3:45pm to 3:45pm, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE AGAINST THE LAW MAY I REMIND YOU, was enough time to get the check and leave. Pretty suspicious in my opinion. I have called the labor department and filed a complaint, but the problem with that was they had hundreds more on file but were not doing anything about it. If anyone were to try to get my opinion of the place, it would be "RUN".

This is a pseud-Japanese restaurants run by Taiwanese owner and his Chinese wife. I worked here as a waitress and I saw this restaurant employing many illegal immigrants beginning with Mexicans in the kitchen and the owners did not look like they were paying taxes they should have paid, because there were a series of practices that made me feel odd. Firstly, I did not see anybody counting its inventory at the end of each month and secondly the pay was constantly late and paid in dirty worn-out bills - always in cash. The owners acted as if they were monarchs and working in the restaurant reminded me of being an eunuch in the court of Chinese emperor. The Brit manager is also the specialty of this restaurant. Surrounding herself with a group of coolies loyal to her, she took every chance to express her own authorities. She is a frog in the well, to put it simply. Perhaps, she should have tried to improve the quality of the restaurant instead of struggling for power in a small well. In addition, there is no single Japanese employee whatsoever. The sushi chefs are Korean and Chinese. Only the Korean guy speaks strange Japanese, though, with strong Korean accent because he was born and raised in Korea. Later, I discovered that he was a swindler who had a criminal record at Criminal Finder. His brother works in the same town at a restaurant called Arigatou.

First of all, I dont understand why there were people leaving negative comments on this restaurant, the food is great, there are new items keep coming up, even the owner of the restaurant would have sushi at the there too sometimes. Have been there several times, and I didnt see any problem described in those bad comments. the employees there are nice, they are friendly and they care about what you feel in the restaurant. The decoration is pretty "Japanesy", and I just love the atmosphere There is soft music playing in the background, warm orange light that makes you feel like home and dont hurt your eyes while eating food, you can sit there, talking to friends and enjoy the habacchi. Ichiban is indeed one of the best Japanese restaurant you can find around Valdosta, it gives you good food, good service and good experience. No matter what you think before, you should at least give it a try and prepare to be amazed.

ROACHES !!!!!!!! OMG me and my husband went there for lunch one day after he had been on a deployment and he was craving a certain roll. We get there and after already having a slow incompetent waitress we find that some there is a cock roach crawling on our table as the waitress is bringing us our food. After telling her and management about it the proceed to look at me like im retarded and then ask me if i would like our food TO GO. It was my fav restaurant and I ate the regularly and after the experience. I will not eat there again!
