Rev Coffee, situated way out there in Smyrna, has been on our "to review" list for quite a while. Being beyond our tight city limits comfort zone we naturally put off this visit as long as possible. We arent city snobs but its painful to have to jump on the highway to get places--ok, maybe we are becoming city snobs. Eventually I caved. A good friend of mine moved to the Smyrna/Vinings area and ever so slightly, yet persistently lured me OTP for a visit. Hes not into coffee but offered to help me review Rev during my visit. He is also the inspiration behind the added multimedia in this post. I now introduce you to Jake, previous neighbor, personal technology and luggage consultant, and friend. Atmosphere- Rev is much larger than most of the coffees shops weve reviewed. The inside is a converted garage, similar to how many Fellinis are set up, with big doors permanently fixed overhead, high ceilings, and a concrete floor. The place has a great atmosphere, encouraging customers to linger whether that be with friends stationed outside on the patio in nice weather or inside in the plush furniture, or at the designated work station in the back complete with high-top communal tables and the majority of the power outlets. The place is adorned with art and decor that carries its rustic, yet comfortable theme through to the end. It was pretty busy when we stopped by on a Saturday morning, but the size and openness of Rev disperses the chatter enough to hear the classic coffee shop radio station. Coffee- Two selections were brewing that morning out of the thirteen Rev offerings: an Ethiopian and Brazilian. A look at the chalkboards in the cafe or the front page of Revs website will provide you with a nice description of each of these beans, leading the customer to an informed decision for which suits better for the occasion. I chose the delicious and flavorful Ethiopia Kochere, which featured fruity notes of lemon and strawberry paired with jasmine and raw honey. Mmmm deliciousness in a paper cup. The other standard espresso drinks are on the menu also, along with a selection of teas and Italian sodas. Jake is not a coffee person so I allowed him to order a mocha, which he loved. He commented that his mocha was incredible and it would be his new coffee drink of choice. Success! Service- After reading the "Who We Are" section of their website I was expecting A-lister service but then again that may be a little over-the-top so early on in the day. Anyways, the cafe area was well maintained, and the staff was perfectly friendly. The muffin I ordered wasnt warm and they didnt bother to warm it up, but thats not expected so I cant discount them too much for that. I did like that Rev serves their coffee in real mugs if you indicate that youre staying for a while. This could be a step in being more eco-friendly, or it could be to lend a more "homey" feel. In the same manner as Land of a Thousand Hills, Rev offers French-press coffee, served on a tray with creme and sugar on the side. Again, nice touch! Location- The expansive Rev Coffee lives in Smyrna, so be prepared for a little drive outside of the city. The area is fine and on a quieter section of Spring Road, but there is nothing really around to compliment your coffee experience. Rev shares a large parking lot with a few other businesses, which I can tell the coffee shop utilizes for both its burgeoning customer base and beans shipments. Legitimacy- They are roasting their own beans (twice a week actually) so the freshness element is there. The coffee shop was full and alive on my visit, and theyve been around for at least five years so it doesnt seem to me like theyre going anywhere. I like how Rev is in touch with their community, as evidenced by their very own "Silver Comet Blend" of beans, which an added bonus, you can purchase online!

This place was my coffee workplace sanctuary. Look sometimes Starbucks can be crowded and overrate sometimes and you want to do your work or have your business meetings in a more comfy environment. If you live in the Vinings/Smyrna area this is the place to get your free wi-fi and of course coffee. Im personally not a coffee drinker, so I always got smoothies here...I cannot speak if their coffee/lattes compared to ah-hem Starbucks...but SB doesnt have smoothies so there is that. I will say this place also had a 1+ against the other mainstream coffee competitor because they have comfy couches and lots and lots of outlets to charge your devices, because again when you go into these other crowded places my main complaint is seating and outlet usages. Wont have that problem here. I will also say the customer service is amazing, the baristas are very friendly and always make you feel at home! I literally do feel at home each and every time I come here and I am here for hours and I am so cozy even with all the other people in the place. This is my second home. So if you need a coffee break and need to get some work done and you are in the area...come by! You will love it!

This place is amazing. From the atmosphere to the drinks, food and diverse crowds that wander in. We decided to grab breakfast here before heading to rock climb. The coffees were delicious! (I had mine and tasted his as well) The flavor of the coffee actually comes through and its not masked by X # of pumps of sugar. I enjoyed this caramel coffee frappe more than your usual chains. The food...all of the pastries looked delicious but we were in the mood for something more hearty. I will say This, the place smelled divine! Like fresh roasted coffee and pastries. The sandwiches had great flavor and were the perfect size, not over stuffed and not tiny either. The Cuban had a great tang from the mustard and pickles, the bread was nice and crusty/crunchy. His turkey pesto sandwich also had good tang with the balsamic dressing drizzled in it. And for more crunch a d flavor those very addicting Voodoo chips! Overall this place is wonderful, plenty of seating for singles, couples, and groups of friends/family. Not to mention.... its a good Pokemon stop!!! Youre welcome

Pretty cool place when you pull up. Looks like there is no parking but there is a huge lot hidden in the back (well I mean there are signs but...) Atmosphere is super chill. Its spacious inside with lots of different places to sit. I was there to buy some coffee and there had a great selection. Better yet there was only a couple of bags of each on the shelf which means fresh beans. (the bag also had a date on it which is cool). The staff was super helpful when deciding on which beans to get. Grabbed a creme brulee on the way out. So good! Will definitely be going back for coffee. Back home I fired up the espresso maker and made a double shot. Used the Pogo Espresso blend. So good. Much better than my previous bags from other places. This one is smooth. No burnt note. Fruity but still stout. Mad amounts of crema. Yeah... thats good man. Sorry: still sippin while I write. :)

If you want great coffee, great atmosphere, a nice spot to chill with your dog, or a nice small meal, this should be on the top of your list of ever you find yourself in the area. The pastries are either local or made in house. Their coffee is roasted in small batches and is always fresh. The Batistas and owner are enthusiastic about their coffee and are always willing to share a thought about anything that interests you, the customer. Even more so when it has to do with coffee. Ive been coming here off and on for three years and they keep getting better. They also host small local events that you can go to support your local businesses. Way better than any franchise, I would come here for any and all coffee cravings. They also have a nice assortment of home brewing merchandise and their own coffee for sale.
