Looking at the negative reviews out there its like you can actually see into these peoples hearts. If even the mere sight of a "hipster" turns your stomach, you have an inferiority complex, or the bottom line is all youre looking at then Good Foods may not be your favorite place to shop. However, if you prefer individuals to drones, initiate respect with kindness, and can see beyond your pocketbook then there is a lot to love about Good Foods. The comparison to Whole Foods is inevitable but besides the point. Good Foods is a Cooperative and Community first. Their commitment is first to high quality and LOCAL foods that you just cant get many other places. Although I flat out disagree that GF is even 20% higher than WF for the same product, if the prices seem higher it is because Good Foods is not a nationwide mega conglomerate and is instead a Non-Profit organization owned and run by Members of the cooperative. GF has been around for many years enriching the Lexington health food community and really gives back in education and action for our food rights. Becoming a member and getting involved with Good Foods is the most unique aspect of the whole experience and one that national chains can only pretend at. I highly recommend anyone in the area who hasnt already to get over to Good Foods and check out the numerous truly Local products and produce that you just dont get anywhere else. Also be sure to pick up a pound of some delicious and locally produced Sweetgrass Granola in the produce section (full disclosure: I bake Sweetgrass Granola with my wife in Stanford :) :) :)

im from santa monica, so id like to think i know a good shop when i see one. This place is BS! Overpriced! Some of the staff are very friendly but the others are just outright ruining it for them with their incompetence and arrogance! i ordered a sandwich and went walking around i came back to find the sandwich guy was way over there hanging with his BFF. it was not until he got yelled at across the cafe that he came to the deli. when he did he looked like a really dirty Waldo with an STD. He kept "judging" me and looking down his nose at me as if he was doing me a favor ( dude, your gross, work at a cash register, and stop flipping your hair every time you say OMG, your wearing a beanie). 15 minutes YES 15 minutes , from when i ordered i finally got a sandwich, THE WRONG SANDWHICH, that looked like my nephew made it, for 8 bucks. CRAP CRAP CRAP. i took my experience up with a manager, but he just kept looking at me like i was going to beat him up. either i got this place all wrong or every other review is bought and paid for or they drank the dharma flavored kool-aid. the stick up this stores butt has a stick up its butt. "BOO!" is my rating. "BOO!" "BOO!" "BOO!"

Ive been a member/owner of Good Foods for about 15 years, and shopped there for 8 or so years before that. Its a great place. I learned so much about nutrition and health just by reading packages and books there. The prices on organic national brands are comparable to places like Wild Oats or Whole Foods, but they also have an array of local produce and bulk items which are very reasonable. Its a wholesome environment, and purchase decisions for the store are made based on several important factors, like healthfulness, local first, non-GMO, etc. The buffet exhibits the best variety of foods anywhere in town, and supports meat-eaters and vegans alike, so its great for families with different eaters. In the spring they have lots of plants started for your garden. The bakery has gotten really excellent, and supplies things like cupcakes and croissants to other businesses such as coffee shops.

The Co-op is a great place to find unique and everyday items that are as locally sourced as possible. The produce section is full of beautiful and delicious fruits and vegetables. I am super picky about my produce and I admire the lay out and selection. You will not be disappointed! I love the selection of fresh sushi and pizzas as well as the incredible food bar attached to the market. There are so many delicious choices, if you go for lunch you will want to take something home for dinner, I promise! The best part is that they use locally sourced produce and products whenever possible, so everyone wins. Consider becoming an owner, too. The payment plan is super flexible. There are great sales and discounts for owners that will easily even out the initial cost. Plus everyone is so friendly, you will want to shop there often!

This is one of the few places in Lexington where you can walk in, serve yourself REAL WHOLESOME FOOD, and walk out as quickly as fast food. If fast food were real food, we would not have a healthcare crisis in America, health insurance premiums would be a third of what they are now. As to cost, this cafe is excellent value for real food, and the folks are warm and helpful. Real food costs money. It is grown and prepared with better methods by people who care what they sell to fellow humans, people who make a living providing us with the true bounty of the earth rather than industrial junk. Local stuff costs more than that from a conglomerate. I prefer the unique, local atmosphere at Good Foods, and Im no hippie/hipster. Eat good food at home, or eat here.

Great selection of products. Love the produce here, it tastes great and follows the seasons; many produce items are also available from local providers and are marked with the farm they were purchased from. The bakery is sub-par, but a few items like the coconut cake are good. Prices are high throughout the store, but there are a few good deals to be found. Certainly beware that some items cost much more here. For example, the Kroger on Euclid sold a locally made jelly for $3.49 while Good Foods sold the same exact product for $6.99. Still, the wide array of organic and unique items keeps me coming back. Plus they have the best produce section in Lexington!

It was a one night stand. Staying over night and hungry, I found the Good Foods Market & Cafe listed unger vegitarian/vegan resteraunts and decided to try it. When I walked into the hot buffet area I was delighted to find a variety of foods identified as vegan. That also included deserts. I spent a few minutes walking around the buffet area and then started picking small amounts from each of the different dishes. Everything was excellant and Ive been talking about it since I got back to S.C. Ill make it a point to stop there again the next time Im driving thru the Lexington area. Its well worth the time..

I love the entire concept of Good Foods Co-Op. Everything from how they make every effort to buy local produce to the fact that it is owned by the community makes it a place that has become an important part of my lifestyle. The lunch/dinner buffets are excellent and its one of the few places that you can purchase very fresh organic items. The only drawback can sometimes be the lack of enough seating. The demand seems to only get higher as more people discover Good Foods and I hope that some day soon they will be able to open more locations in Lexington.
