This is just another typical subpar Japanese restaurant serving mediocre sushi. The restaurant is located in a more outdated strip mall, and the exterior appearance is not so pleasing for a restaurant that offers raw fish on the menu. This is a Chinese owned/operated restaurant, with a Korean guy that was recently hired as a server. The staff of this restaurant is actually stellar. They always have a smile, and always willing to go through the menu and serve you in a friendly manner whenever its needed. Since it is a Chinese owned restaurant, you will find your typical Chinese-Japanese style teriyaki, hibachi menu items. Nothing too grand or mouth-watering to write about however. The quality of the food is a B-(minus) at best, and if youre used to the legit Japanese fare from the bigger cities, you will most likely be disappointed here. As a sushi fanatic Asian, this place is just an O-K, with decent prices for mediocre Japanese cuisine.

So before even going there I looked at the menu to see what they offered. I found chicken katsu my favorite thing at a Japanese restaurant, come to my knowledge ITS ALL A LIE!! I go there with a friend we order a drink just to find out seconds later there is no chicken katsu. So we politely said no thank you were not going to order anything were going to leave, you dont have chicken katsu even though your menu online says you do. So normal managers will not charge you for a drink especially if you didnt touch it. Our server said you already placed an order so you have to pay for the drinks, when we didnt order anything and we never touched our drinks. Thinking the manager will step in for the customers ABSOLUTELY NOT! he says the drinks will be a waste and gave us to go cups...worst restaurant in my life should of known it wasnt good with only one customer there.

This place gets harsh reviews sometimes because its not a fancy 5-star japanese restaurant by far, but Ive never had an issue here in four years. I always had food to make me satisfied and enough that I bring some home with me afterwords. I feel like many tourists visiting are put off by the wait staff because they are mainly made up for college students from the area. Although, the servers are always extremely friendly and I have always felt welcome and taken care of. Its a sweet place with very decent food that is a great low price place for college students and travelers who are going through the area.

The quality of food is phenomenal, the portions are amazing, especially for the reasonable prices, and the wait staff are all friendly and attentive. Overall, it is one of my & my familys favorite places to eat in Savannah. Also, please do not think that the Sakura on Broughton is comparable at all! I made that mistake once. I will never go there again: rude staff, small portions, high prices, and VERY dirty. Yuck! Stick to the Sakura on Waters!!! :D

Absolutely amazing staff. Great food. Its a little pricey but everything is fresh. Great atmosphere. Notice that the few negative reviews are from freeloaders who tried to get stuff for free. If you like quality sushi and understand what that might cost, come here. Otherwise, get yours at Publix or a Chinese buffet. Also note, good restaurants might run out of food. That doesnt mean you get stuff for free.

The food was good and there was plenty of it for the price; plate presentation was done well too, so I give respect to the chef on duty the night we were in. The service was also pretty much on point. My only issue is that the layout and decor could be improved substantially, I feel its subpar to the food. But hey, I went there to eat and enjoy the food, and that was a success :)

First off, anyone who is talking about bad waitstaff and the scad students working there, you HAVE to be talking about the one downtown, so please do not get confused my friends. This one on waters is awesome. Ive been going there since I was in high school and have never been disappointed there. Great food Great service! And everyone who works there is more than nice!

Excellent sushi, and let me tell you the bourbon chicken is to die for. Pour a little of the shrimp sauce or the white sauce (whatever they call it) on top, and youve got yourself a top notch meal. I havent been to Savannah in about 6 years, and my wife and I still talk about Sakura and how we wish we could have their food shipped to us in Chicago.

I have been to Sakura frequently and everytime Ive had to deal with the rude attitudes of the waitresses. They rush you out, ask questions about your tip, and if you ordered something they forgot to bring to your table, expect them to deny your missing order.... Such TERRIBLE waitresses!

In my opinion it was absolutely disgusting all the way around. My gf liked the sushi but I didnt like the chicken or the beef and mushroom soup, even the shrimp sauce was nasty in my opinion. I would not recommend this place to anyone, I refused to even take the food to my dog!

Hands down the best asian food I have ever had. I eat asian food all the time, its my favorite kind of food, and this is my favorite place to go. Excellent taste, phenomenal quality, amazing portions, and a fair price. In fact, I think Ill go get some now.

Food and sushi is good here, recommend the bourbon chicken, but waitstaff appears to be comprised of stoned scad dropouts, so expect things that you ordered to never show up, as well as an indifferent attitude from your waitress. Good selection of sake!

Never ever ever will go there for any meals. The worst service over receiving the salad that comes with meal if dining in. They were arguing for us to cancel the order; they refuse to return our money. The owner refuse to give us our money back.

I love this place. I usually order my sushi over the phone and its ready in 15 minutes. Its always fresh and delicious. I recommend the Party Combo for 2. Its 10 rolls of the sushi chefs choice. The staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Excellent food. Reasonable prices. The online menu is wrong by no fault of theirs. The owners said someone else submitted it and they cannot correct it. Their menu is much more robust. Great place, great atmosphere.

Sadly a few years ago I had bought sushi for me and my husband, I ended up in the hospital and my husband was home sick. I almost died from gastroenteritis due to contaminated food from here.

The only complaint I have is they serve Pepsi products. The food is great and is a good value. The people are nice and treat you like family.
