I am a local who lives in lawerenceville not too far from "the square". This was my wife and I second time attending this restaurant. Although I have to say that we werent originally going to attend mccrays as we like to try new places more often then not but the other place had a wait. We were seated promptly and greeted quickly. We really enjoy the atmosphere as we like the pub style restaurant feel. Open and airy. Not too stuffy but also not extremely casual. The waiter (I dont remember his name) took our drink orders and went to put them in. After maybe 7-8 passes around our table he finally approaches us to inform that they were out of that beer. Thats ok. Not a big deal. So he suggested something comparable. Im not a fussy drinker and I like mostly anything. So I agreed. It was a good suggestion. He delivers the drinks and then spiels us on the special for the night. It was a fish special and before we can order our appetizer he ends his spiel and runs off to another table. Now mind you in normal steps of service that would be correct but we waited for about 7-8 minutes to get our drinks. Which again was not a big deal but as a server he should have taken our appetizer order when he delivered the drinks just because the drinks did take a bit to get there. At this point my wife and I are in a good mood. We both work or have worked in the service industry as FOH managers so we understand the day to day rigors of the restaurant world. So we get him back to the table again after he has passed our table 4-5 times again and we place our app order as well as our entrees. I got the ribs and my wife got the fish special. The ribs were really good but the fish overcooked and the rice on her special wasnt bad but it was just a strange taste. I really cant describe it just different. It was a light rice that was well cooked but just had a strange taste. We finished our meal and he provided our box and got my wife and I another drink. The last part of the meal was probably the biggest bother for my wife and I. And keep in mind I dont think the service was terrible but the waitor really needs to consolidate his steps. He needs to be more efficient in his steps of service. As again he passes our table and offered dessert just like he should have. Then he should have check back and check down on our table but again just like earlier he passes our table another 7-8 times until my wife finally waives him down with the credit card. Overall my review is rated at three stars and I want to reiterate that I dont think my service or food was terrible but it was not spectacular. With that being said we love the atmosphere and everything else about the restaurant but I simply took off a star for the overcooked fish special and 1 star for the inefficient service. Lastly my wife and I enjoy Mccrays and we will be back!

Went to McCrays last night for Crab Legs. We sat for a good 7 mins @ the High Tops near the bar. So close to the bar and kitchen entrance. Servers kept walking by smiling. One Server with really curly hair saw the expression on my face and asked had anyone served us yes. We said no, people just keep walking by. She apologized and was so sweet. She took our drink order which was water. Wanted to each before we consumed alcohol. So our server finally came up to her when he saw she was at our table. I heard her tell him 2 waters. He came back with the waters. No smile, no name, not friendly at all. I dont know if it was because we ordered water or just didnt like the way we looked..lol. I said we wanted to the crab leg all you can eat special and he said ok. The curly hair server ended up bringing them to us. He just kept walking by. Never asking if everything was ok and if we needed anything. Finally when he saw we were finished, he asked if we were ready for more. He still never said his name. We wanted drinks finally. We had to keep yelling across the room "excuse me, excuse me". He finally came. My husband said, "what is your name?, He said "Reid". We ordered shots. He brought my husband one more order of crab legs. A couple came in and sat next to us. He was overly talkative and very friendly to them. We would have stayed to have our normal Guiness, Yuengling, Cuervo Gold and Fireballs but decided to drink elsewhere where we felt like we were welcomed to be there. Our normal tab wouldve been over $100. Weve been a few times since moving to Gwinett a year ago. I dont want him to think he got a $6 tip on a $58 dollar tab because we were cheap. We are not! We over tip on the norm. We gave him $6 and the Curly haired server $5. She treated us with much respect and made us feel like we belonged. She walked by and said "please come back again very apologetically. Even before we gave her a tip. She was great even though she wasnt our server and we appreciate it. Hope this doesnt get her into trouble. She actually saved McCrays a customer...

We came on a Sunday 1.28.2016 around 2:30 and not real busy but steady. Took a very long time for us to get a server. She was nice once she arrived and we started with appetizer and one person ordered a beer others 2 people ordered tea and a coke. Coke and tea came out about 5 or 10 min after order. The person with beer didnt get his drink until the appetizer came even though we were sitting directly across from the bar. We kinda ignored that happened but we finished our appetizer and all our drinks before seeing server again to ask if we were ready to order. We ordered and again we waited quite some time before receiving our meal. Two of us ordered the tavern dip and neither of us had the creamy horseradish which was to come with the meal. Trying to get any server attention was hard but we just noticed most every server tried very hard not to make eye contact. I finally got up to chase our server down who had not even looked our way the last three times she came from the kitchen empty handed. Very disappointed as the last time we came it was almost the same type of service and I didnt write a review as I thought this was just an isolated incident but here we are again. I think the management needs to help and notice what I and several others have noticed about the lack of server attention to the restaurant. I like to go out in our little downtown area and hope something improves here so that all begin to have a great experience.

I totally loved this place! Since the moment we walked in to the moment we left the service was nothing but great. We asked for a more private sitting area, and the hostess accommodated us as our request. The place looks very clean. Elegant/cool decor. Very welcoming . Its great for a date, a drink with friends or for lunch/dinner with the family. Let me start with the appetizers. We ordered tuna tacos. It was really good, light , full of flavor, and a perfect size. Our second appetizer was fried calamari. I have to say....wow! Super yummy. It comes with a tartar sauce on the size, and the calamari had a little bit of sweet sauce that makes it even so much better. The portion was enough to share . Ok, I ordered Shrimp and Grits. Omg!!! First bite and I felt a party in my mouth. Sooo good! So full of flavor. It was delicious. We had a signature beer they offered to us. It was very refreshing, different in a good way. Good flavor The only downside was that we really wanted to visit the roof to sit there to appreciate the view, maybe take some pics. But we were told it was closed . Oh well, Im planning to return to this place, so maybe next time Ill be able to admire the beauty of Lawrenceville from the roof. I had a great experience at McCrays. (SEE THE PICS)
