My wife & I had a great time at the Whistlestop Cafe. The waitress was not only very helpful, but full of knowledge she was willing to share about the movie made here (things you probably wouldnt find out elsewhere!) - and was willing to spend her time explaining and showing us the movie photos and paraphernalia in the cafe. She also gave a history of the town, which we later went and explored. The food is typical Southern fare - heavy on the "breaded & fried" style, which is good. Do NOT miss your opportunity to sample their famous fried green tomatoes, which are quite good when caught in season! We bought a batch of batter, tho to tell the truth my wife, an old Southern farm raised gal herself, can make them better - tho I might be a bit prejudiced. ;) Plan to arrive a bit early if you want a GOOD experience. We arrived shortly before opening, which is why the waitress, whom we ended up tipping very well for her time, was able to spend so much time catering to my wifes wants & questions (Im more of an ignorant man.) Having the cafe next to the river and railroad track certainly adds to the atmosphere, and dont forget to "visit" the grill, etc., located in the side and back yards. Also plan to take some time exploring the stores across the street, and some of the more whimsical structures / sight gags which are sprinkled up and down the main drag - it will take an afternoon, and then theres the Old Mill Motorcycle Museum right there nearby, though it was closed the day we were there. All in all this town - and this cafe - deserve a 4 to 5 star rating when it comes to encouraging tourism, and a friendly attitude.

Last week made my 3rd time going to WSC and all I can say is it is worth the stop if you are traveling I75. The country fried steak is AMAZING!!! It is small and gets packed quick so plan to be there early (1030ish). The wait staff are not rude like other people have said, they just dont take no bull or have time to wait around IMO. They have a small restaurant with a lot of people to move in and out so be ready to order very soon after sitting down. Also do not ask to take a menu outside while you wait they will tell you NO... Probably due to people taking them as a souvenir. Great little town to explore but nothing opens until 11am when WSC opens so be prepared to sit around with very little to none little cell signal. Overall GREAT restaurant with AMAZING food but as soon as you sit down figure out what you want to eat ASAP, those waitresses do not play and dont have time for you to figure out what you want. Its worth the time and money and every trip to ATL I will stop and grab something to eat there. They got my money every trip for sure!!!

The young ladies serving the food were adorable, but good service couldnt make up for the cooking. The food was atrocious! The brunswick stew tasted like watered down barbecue sauce - and tasted burnt. The chicken livers were okay, but there werent many of them and they were cold. The cornbread was absolutely the worst Ive ever had - doughy, tasteless - and oh yes, burnt! One piece was burnt so bad they just served the top part. The salisbury steak was just hamburger covered in gravy, not a salisbury steak. My husband was served the tiniest chicken breast weve ever seen - I think it might have been a pigeon. The coleslaw was not good either. The only things that were okay were the fried green tomatoes, which were good, and the okra which was okay. AVOID THIS PLACE - there is the real Whistle Stop cafe (Irondale Cafe) in Alabama if youre curious and the food is much better.

Over rated! We drove 2 hours to come check out this place. Very disappointed. Came on a Wednesday had a long wait. They actually set people a head of us. We thought maybe because there were 4 in their party. They eventually set us at a table for 4 too! We had been wait for awhile and these people just got there. I ordered veggie plate with cornbread, they brought it out with a roll. I told them I ordered cornbread. They said we are out. Lol! I would not have ordered veggies if I had know they didnt have cornbread! The okra was over cooked. We had to flag down our waitress everytime we needed something. She would speed by us like a bullet! Not going back! Not worth your trip people. Amy Lafayes in Dacula Ga is 100% better plus she has homemade biscuits and her place is 5minutes away.

Bi Racial couple with kids walked in felt very un comfortable. .Was told an 1 1/2 hour wait which was fine my wife wanted to eat there which is white..The young Lady at the Register was very very rude when we asked for a menu when we decided to just order to go ..Then told us to move so she could check other people out which was fine but very rude about it..Another waitress seen her acting the way she was..They got into it n she was told to go to the back..At that time me n my son walked out n sit on the porch to wait for my wife n my other 2 kids...Fried Tomato were awesome to bad we didnt have a chance to experience history expecially since we are from Tennessee. .I will Never go Back

Take a step back in time. This restaurant right on the railroad tracks is very old. In fact, it looks like it might be near unsafe! However, it is safe and it is worth the stop. The food is surprisingly good. The portions are large. The service is very good. This is the biggest draw for this nice, little town. Beware, there is usually a line, when they open and a steady stream of patrons throughout the day. Nice little shops selling new and old items. After you eat, take some time and check them out. There is also a wine tasting room across the street, which has some excellent wine from a vineyard in Helen.

Just like a step back in time like the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, it is a great little town. The shops are very unique they each offer something for everyones taste. You can walk around an see all the movie scenes as well as pick up memorabilia. When your done you head down to the Whistle Stop for the best food, unfortunately Im not a fried green tomato gal but I highly recommended a plate of their homemade onion rings with their to die for remoulade. I love their pulled pork sandwich as well. Their staff is always friendly an welcoming. It can get very busy there so there may be wait to eat but totally worth it!

If there were 10 stars available I would give them! My wife and I drove almost 300 miles to visit Juliette and The Whistle Stop Cafe and it was absolutely worth the trip! We will be back! The food was A-MA-ZING, the staff was friendly, and the decor was exactly as we hoped...just like it was in the movie! The Bennett BBQ plate and the fried pork chops were incredible but the fried green tomatoes....I wish I could take some home! If youre any fan of the movie or good food this is definitely the place to be!
