This was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. Some friends and I went here during octoberfest. The outside was so packed that we had to eat inside which smelled. The service was really bad which we chalked up to it being so busy. The beer was ok but not anything to rave about. My friend had the reuben and said it was alright but nothing he couldnt have gotten at Arbys. My other friend and I had sausage platters. All of the food was cold and was not very good. The bread was old and soggy. We ate what we could (covered in mustard) as the server was gone for ~25 mins after dropping off the food. My friend with the reuben never got his side of coleslaw. My other friend and I couldnt eat the sauerkraut. It was absolutely disgusting. After flagging down the server I told her that it was bad and that we would like to have some red cabbage to replace the bad sauerkraut. She insisted that she would charge me for the red cabbage and the sauerkraut. I am a server at a restaurant. I never want to charge a guest for something that they did not enjoy and, if I had been in her shoes, I would have happily replaced the side for free to satisfy them. The disdain and lack of care that I received at this place is despicable. I do not blame the server (wholly) for this. The management is lacking and needs to set its priorities in order. Food should come out hot and fresh (not disgusting) and guests should leave satisfied and feeling comfortable enough to return.

My family ate here today, it was overall disappointing. Two people had burgers which were not bad, slaw, kettle chips and a pickle. The taste was pretty good. +1 star. Considering it is a tourist establishment, the $10 price tag for each was not bad. I got a Wurst platter and opted for the extra wurst: a bauernwurst and a knockwurst with sauerkraut, German potato salad and pumpernickel bread. The salad was good so +1 star, but the knockwurst was actually cold. Not lukewarm, cold. After asking for it to be heated, it came back STILL cold. -1 star. As for the non-food aspects, the wait was incredible. It took them 15-20 minutes to get our food (though part of it was still cold), then it took an unreasonable amount of time to get a check, and then for them to return with it. -1 star. So at the moment, we are at 0 stars. BUT, the view was great, and our server was very nice, new, but very nice and apologetic. So +2 stars. Overall, Id say if you want some food and fast, Id walk a little and just go to the Wendys down the street. And then go back to Grannys funnel cake place and eat there because that was amazing.

There was honestly nothing pleasant about this restaurant. I can see how in the warmer months simply sitting outside and admiring the view with a beer would be nice. But since its chilly we sat inside- the smell of the place alone should have been a red flag that we should just leave. But we stayed because we were advised that they had the best German food. My husband had Wiener schnitzel... He said the best part was the pumpernickel loaf that it came with (not the regular pumpernickel bread that our platters were served with, mind you. That was just stale sandwich bread). My in-laws and I all had wurst platters, and we had to pull over on the drive home so my father-in-law could vomit. Literally. The whole restaurant looked and smelled unclean. Please dont waste your money.

We were there this evening and as always, the food was good, but I was INCREDIBLY disappointed with the coffee. I was hoping to just email them privately about this issue as it may seem trivial to most, but there is no email address available. My husband and i both ordered coffee. The waitress said she was going to brew a fresh pot. Okay, great! So, our app arrives; no coffee. Our dinner arrives -- along with our coffee. It was lukewarm. I mean so lukewarm that I gulped it down because a) I was thirsty and b) it was lukewarm! I was hoping the refill would be up to temp but no such luck. It was colder than the first one. I wouldnt be complaining but at $2.50 for coffee, I expect something decent! The Reuben was good, the hummus was good, but the $2.50 coffee was CRAPTASTIC.

Cafe International is my most favorite place in the world. I love to sit by the river watching folks tube and my kids have a good time. I have to have a bite of one their Rubin Sandwiches they are the best in the world! Make sure yall get Tracy as a waitress, she is the best! October, 2016 ####### This years visit much different, must have new owners. Place was empty. Waitress was nice but never checked on us after serving the food. We were the only guests at 3:30 pm. Trolls Tavern was hopping. Bus boy had an aditude. Rubin Sandwich had much less meat. I hope they turn things around. This is a special place to my family. 06/12/17.

My wife and I ate here today and just loved sitting on the deck overlooking the river. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon so it was very nice outside. I got the Wurst plate w/ German potato salad and sauerkraut and a Pualaner draft and my wife got the french dip. My meal was really good and my wife had mixed feelings about her french dip. I want to go back and try the Reuben sometime as well. The service was quick and helpful. Although I think well try some of the other restaurants for variety (today was our first time in Helen) I always know we can find a good meal with a great atmosphere here.

If that title seems familiar, see my review of the Troll Restaurant and Bar. Copy and paste here. Average food "German" style menu which means lots of pork sausages; Average wait times to be seated and Average service. However, the view of the River was excellent. You could see all the butt cracks of all the Rednecks hungover their tubes as they floated down the river. Plus all the over the hill, over the weight limit, over loud women walking past on the bridge. Then there were the prices. Over average for the meal. However, no one else is any better in town so may as well eat here. Sorry.

Helen is a quaint alpine village resort. This restaurant was created with that in mind. The Cafe international has casual dining overlooking the river featuring German, Italian, French and American food. Their sandwiches are excellent and there is a good variety beer to go with them. It is located on the main drive within walking distance of all the shops. Its the perfect place for a delicious lunch or dinner break.

My husband and I ate here for lunch. The food was very good. I had the Reuben and my husband had the BBQ platter. The Reuben was awesome! My husband said the BBQ was very good as well. The weather was bad so we ate inside which wasnt impressive, but I imagine on nice days the outdoor area right on the River would be very nice. The prices were a little steep, but it was worth it since we were on vacation.

Small parking area. Went there primarily for the one German item not at the others, wienerschnitzel (veal, others only had pork), and of course they had just run out. Ignoring that, the cold beer & atmosphere was excellent, pleasantly relaxing looking out over the river. I ordered the Italian pastrami melt, which was very delicious and hit the spot, included good Cole slaw, pickle, & chips.
