It was my turn to pick the restaurant for date night, and somehow I stumbled upon Marcel while Googling top steakhouses in Atlanta. I was happy to find a restaurant that my boyfriend had not been to yet, either. I made the reservation for 2 several days in advance. When I got to the restaurant last night, our table was situated in an undesirable location. It was like a long booth, where on one side looked to be a party of 10 seated there, and the other side like a party of 4 or 6. The chair for the table/other side of the booth wasnt the big comfortable chairs like in the front area of the restaurant either. I asked the hostess if there was another table. She said the restaurant was fully reserved. I told her I didnt want that table, its dead in the middle of the dining room floor, no privacy, no intimacy of any kind. She ended up giving me a table in the front of the restaurant across from the bar, the 2nd table as soon as you walk in. I ordered bottled water with lemon slices from 3 different people, but they still brought tap water and I never received any lemon slices despite asking for them multiple times. When my boyfriend arrived, he ordered Louis XIII, but they dont even sell it there. One of the six (6!) different servers we had coming to our table, a guy in a suit with dark hair, tried to tell him to order something else that he claims is comparable, but cheaper at only $80 a shot. Please note: do not insult us because we are minorities; if someone orders Louis XIII then they are not price-sensitive at all! We were sitting at our table with multiple servers coming by pouring water and bringing bread, not once did any of them ask to take our order for almost an hour! I had to ask can we please order now? No servers told us about any specials of the day, even though I remember hearing the server for the table next to us telling them it was 2 fish specials of the day. I ordered shrimp scampi risotto (lobster chowder appetizer), my boyfriend ordered the bone-in filet. It took a long time for our food to come out. My boyfriend asked what is this to the tall male blond server. He said a New York Strip. My boyfriend told the server he specifically ordered a bone-in filet. The server had the audacity to tell him to just eat the steak because the Strip is actually good, and ordering another steak would take a long time since the kitchen is busy. UNBELIEVABLE! So as my boyfriend is telling the server that he wants what he ordered and not what the server is trying to force him to eat, another server brings my boyfriend his bone-in filet that he ordered. How unorganized is that?! My boyfriend didnt even finish the bone-in filet once he saw a chunk of fat in it, and gristle. That was most definitely not a premium cut of meat for a restaurant of this quality and reputation. The table next to us (1st table soon as you walk in) had an elderly Caucasian woman who complained the entire time. She even complained to the manager twice about the service. As she was walking out, she looked at me and said, "The quality of this restaurant has gone downhill, they let anyone in here now." So in conclusion, we will never eat at Marcel again! We are on our way to Las Vegas, and my boyfriend said theres a Marcel location in our hotel, I told him I dont even want to eat in there. I am beyond disappointed by this dining experience and awful service!

We are in Marcels right now. When we walked in the door the hostess was polite, the bartender got our drinks in a timely fashion, the people in the restaurant were nice. We were seated and thats when it went down hill from there. Our waitress is Kelsey, when we asked for the burger to be cut in half we were told that it could not be done because the kitchen was too busy throwing pots and pans and everything else. My fries with the steak are cold, she brought us out lukewarm water, this is the part were so rushed out.. then she asked us if we wanted another drink, more food, or desert. We said no, because we were only half through with our meal and drinks. She slapped the check down and said goodnight. D.J came over to our table he was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got us hot fries, asked if we needed any condiments, got them in a snap, said yes maam, checked back on us when we were not in the middle of conversation. Just perfect! D.J should have been our waiter. We talked to the manager Neal he corrected the situation and handled it well. In closing, Kelsey is not a good waitress and if it wasnt for D.Js pleasant service we would have walked out. D.J deserves a promotion and a raise; THANK YOU young man!!

I probably had the worst dining experience in years at Marcel. I give two stars for great service and nice décor. However, the kitchen failed miserably to live up to the hype and their exorbitant price tag. Especially, their temperature control is not anywhere near the caliber of elite steakhouses they claim to belong. My medium steak was drenched in blood while my friends medium rare steak was not cuttable with knife. The manager tried his best to salvage our wasted dinner, but when your $70 steak tasted worse than $20 steak at longhorn, it was time to ask for the check. If you dont want to ruin your special occasion with subpar foods, go to Bones or KR.

Im not a wealthy person. I dont dress the part either. My buddies and I rolled into this place after an Atlanta United game one evening. We were dressed in our soccer jerseys and had baseball caps on. Not appropriate attire for a place like this. You wouldnt know it. Every single person in the staff treated us like we were royalty. From the manager to the host to the server to the bartender, our experience here was first class. The food and drinks are superb and the dessert was delicious (I had a chocolate based dessert). Marcel is definitely a must if youre looking for a nice place with a high end feel, but doesnt absolutely crush your wallet.

Mixed review here; in general their food is rather salty, but the second time I was there, their Le Entrecote was really salty and I told the waiter about it. To my disappointment, his reaction was just "We tend to overseason just in case". His remark really left me aghast. Totally not the reaction I would expect from an upscale joint like Marcel. Their Beef Wellington was decent, the first time I had the Le Entrecote it was good. They had Baked Alaska and Mille Crepe for dessert and it was really tasty. Not sure I will come back for the third time, considering it is really expensive for a hit or miss restaurant.

This is one of the most amazing places in Atlanta. The food is perfect every time. I have tried nearly every item on the menu, and have never been more consistently impressed with any place in my life. I brought my fiance here the night of our engagement. The service and level of attention by the entire staff was absolutely perfect. The GM even dropped by to ask us about our evening. After dinner, we sat at the bar and tried some of their concoctions; the bartender Scott, was fantastic as well. This restaurant takes dining to another level. We will be back.
