There a bunch of restaurants in this area. The thing that drove me to this restaurant was the google reviews. To set the table … a.k.a premise, for the last few years I’ve had a tough time finding a restaurant where the food was great, the server was astounding, and the ambiance staged an amazing meal, away from the boring day-to-day stuff we eat just to keep going. A tall order, but when your dropping one to three days of net pay to entertain someone, and to be entertained as part of the ticket, this is what we should all expect. Sakura Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar will be added to my disappointments. When I walked in and asked for a table for four, they led me to their side dining tables instead of their hibachi tables in another dining room. No one even offered me the choice of sitting at the other tables. The waitress must have been having a bad night because she kept forgetting our order, and we had to reminder her to bring our drinks. When my son order General Tso’s Chicken, she asked if he wanted broccoli or mixed vegetables, which this dish doesn’t offer. You can imagine my son’s disappointment when the plate was flush with his least favorite green. This was an opportunity for the waitress to take the plate away and specialize it with mixed veggies. Instead she returned with the menu and pointed out that it only came with broccoli, as if to say: it’s in the contract. Food was delivered piece meal, instead of a complete order. So, as my wife and daughter were finishing, my son and I were just being served. Prices here are slightly above average; not out of line considering the entertainment value of the chef preparing the food in front of you, which we didn’t get to see. To add such an amateurish performance by restaurant staff made me question my choice for the night. On the good side (bet’cha thought I’d never get to one), the food was delicious. I’m a vegetarian, another reason I don’t like to go to restaurants; however, colors of the food were bright, and plated with love and dedication and worth the indignant attention my family and I received from the staff. You should skip lunch before coming to this place because of the large quantity of dinner you’ll be served. They close between 2:30p to 4:30p, I guess to switch over from lunch to dinner, a little out of the ordinary. But if this is to give the chef a chance to pray for a good dinner service, it’s worth it. If I return here for dinner in the future, they will have their chef to thank.

Terrible! We were told that if we wanted hibachi that we couldnt order another meal from any other part of the menu. We ordered a beer, it was brought without a glass. Waitress seemed irritated when we asked for a glass. Soup and salad was brought to us and placed at the top of our empty plates. We moved our plates and pulled our food toward us so we could eat it, just to find that the salad was swimming in dressing. We asked for salad with less dressing and they brought a bowl of just dressing. Again visible irritation from the waitress. She poured my husbands beer into his glass and overflowed the glass which poured all over his cell phone. At that point we were done. They didnt apologize just insisted that we pay. For what? NEVER GO THERE! (Except to use the bathroom which were absolutely beautifully decorated.)

My husband and I ate at Sakura last night. The soup had no taste to it. Very bland with only 1 sliver of a mushroom floating on top. We refused it after the 1st sip. With the exception of the fried rice, everything else prepared at the grill table was satisfactory. We each ordered a filet steak and shrimp. They presented a normal size filet, cooked it as requested, then divided it between the 2 of us. The fried rice was listed as having vegetables, but it was prepared with only the rice and 2 eggs, and seasoning. I love Japanese food, but will travel the extra distance next time, to our favorite place in Daytona Beach, Fl.

My favorite restaurant in town by far! Awesome environment, with the choice of a chef making your food in front of you, hibachi style, or regular dining. The staff are usually in good spirits and very helpful with customizing orders. The food proportions are very large for the price and are very high quality. I can almost never leave the restaurant without asking for a box. Wait time for food to come out is usually not long at all. My favorite dish is the Chicken Tempanyaki! I definitely recommend both the hibachi (for fun entertaining lunches and dinners) and dining (for quiet, peaceful dinners) experiences.

I am not originally fom the area but some locals recommended it. The sushi was good, the rolls tasted fresh. The shumai was standard probably frozen but fine. The crab Rangoons too sweet to dip in the sweet and sour sauce provided. The hibachi steak and chicken entrees were a little on the greasy side. The noodles were for some reason extremely sweet and inedible and for some reason they kept bringing tons of yum yum sauce. Its sad if this is one of the best winterhaven has to offer. By the way i cant leave the restroom after this meal.

I, as well as the rest of the people sitting at our hibachi table, was served UNDERCOOKED chicken, my girlfriend was 7 months pregnant at the time. We told the waitress & she asked if we wanted her to take it in the back & cook it some more. We told them no & my girlfriend went & spoke with the manager. They proceeded to take my girlfriends chicken off the ticket but tried to make me pay for mine. After saying something to them again they decided to take mine off as well. Will not be going back. How awful!

Went on a Friday night was very busy as always for the hibachi so we tried the conventional side well after ordering we sat for 38 minutes by this time the drinks were gone. Then the food came still no drinks after asking. Oh did I mention we got no soup or salad and no white sause. I can understand the hibachi side beings on busy but the other side of the place had 4 tables of 10 or so occupied. They need better service. Food was excellent but service sucked.

If Osaka is the "working mans" steakhouse, Sakura is the elaborately decorated nightclub. This restaurant is reasonably priced, the wait staff are friendly and meticulous, and the show put on by the chefs is the standard expected from Japanese steakhouses. The food is fresh and the sauces all seem on the sweet side. Its nice that Winter Haven has something one would normally only find in larger cities.
