I spent my whole life certain I would hate Hibachi. I grew up in CF, & I was a very, very picky eater during my high school days, when my peers would come here before prom & homecoming. I never joined them because what would I have eaten? No chicken fingers or mozzarella sticks on this menu. Alas, its been more than a decade since those days, & a decent amount of travel & culture has convinced me of the glory of Asian food (among other cuisines). I recently tried Hibachi for the first time - FINALLY - & was thrilled to finally silence my skeptical inner 17-year-old. Hibachi has a weird atmosphere, sort of a used-to-be-fancy feel. Its based in a weird office building on Front Street, somewhere no restaurant ought to be, but its a massive space with plenty of seating. The decor feels dated & - I hate to say this - almost a little bit grungy, so I wasnt sure I was getting into something legit - but dont be fooled by the slightly 90s feel. THIS FOOD IS BOMB. I ordered the shrimp entree, which was made in the standard teppanyaki fashion - on a large, open-fire grill with everyone elses food. My aunt & I are both allergic to mushrooms, & the chef was kind enough to make our meals separate from the rest of the group, which meant we were already done with our food by the time they got theirs, but hey, thats worth not having an allergic reaction. I appreciate their willingness to accommodate dietary issues even at a family-style restaurant. The chefs here are mostly white, which makes for the standard "Will this be authentic enough?" concern, but theyre skilled at what they do & good at what they male. Theyre show-offs by trade, creating onion volcanos & large fires & flipping tiny pieces of shrimp into your mouth as you watch; its a show, & its a fun one. I was impressed to discover, though, that its not all showboating - they also make legitimately delicious food, with fresh ingredients & simple but strong flavors. The fried rice mightve been the best Ive ever had; they give you a ton, but I couldve eaten double that amount. I also love that they serve four-course meals - a salty scallion soup, a ginger-dressed salad, whichever entree you choose, & a dessert of green tea & pineapple sorbet - plus, of course, a fortune cookie. Folks used to standard CF pricing will find Hibachi expensive or "fancy," but for the quality & amount of food you get, paired with the novelty of a true four-course meal - its beyond worth it. Hibachi, Im sorry I doubted you for so long. I cant wait to come back.

I took my wife here for a "date," the first one in a very long time due to financial and time commitments. I was greatly disappointed in the food and options available. The host at the front was very good and helpful, but everything went downhill from there. After being seated, my wife asked what non-caffeinated options were available and the server laughed and just said "water." Im sure there were other options, like Sprite or Sierra Mist, but that was his answer. We ordered our food and the soup and salad were okay, but it was the bland rice, vegetables, and shrimp that got me. What made it worse was that they dont carry the traditional "yum yum" sauce that most hibachis carry. That disappointed me beyond belief, so when we asked, the server (at that particular time) suggested a spicy mayo sauce they have. It was good, but it wasnt what we desired. Because two different servers kept showing up, we arent sure which to blame for not refilling our drinks appropriately. I will say the chef did a great job, had a great personality, and was entertaining, but the food was honestly so bland. There are better options in the NE Ohio region. I drove past two of them to try out this place because the money was a little less than others. Overall, I could have said it was an okay experience, but even with my attempts to contact the restaurant via their online contact feature, I have gotten no response to any of my complaints. There is no doubt I would not return if they cant contact me to discuss this. It proved to me their hospitality stops at the front door. I dont recommend this place. Im happy to see others have enjoyed this place, but obviously many have not had the opportunity to go to better places.

Aweful experience. Sure food and atmosphere is exceptional. Well the food is. OK. About the same as any other Chinese take out. But even having reservations are negated by the simple type of demonstrated cooking. Even when you arrive 10 mins before your reservations you wait nearly an hour to be seated all the while people who walked in after you get seated when you hear them say they do not have a reservation. Even people who do have reservations at the same time but arrived later STILL get seated first. The last time Ill ever go here. Still waiting on a seat and its been 40 mins. Had a reservation for 8:30 (told me thats the best they can do when I called the morning of and tried for 8). It is now 9. Yet they close at 10:30. And I feel getting late to closing time you get service that is sub par from servers and cooks who just want to get the hell home.. They moved to this new location and brand new building in a shady part of the area with crappy parking and roads. Go somewhere else. Youll thank me.

Will not be back. Absolute WORST/RUDE hostess I have ever came across. Called in a reservation and got an explanation of their "priority seating" policy which was fine. However we got there in time, ended up waiting 35 mins before we asked the hostess (short with short blonde hair) when we would be up. She gave me such a bad attitude when I asked how we were given priority seating when several other 2 person groups went before us. My boyfriend and I have both worked as waitstaff so we get it, when its busy there isnt much you can do. But the hostess was so awful that we decided to leave - at which point she actually raised her voice at us. We went to Brickhouse down the road, had a great meal, wonderful waiter who was kind and attentive even while the place was packed, and ended up tipping 40%. Waitstaff and management at hibachi Japan can blame their nasty hostess for the loss of business.

This was our first time here. We celebrated my step-daughters 16th birthday here and my husband and I were very disappointed in the service we received from our waitress Lauren. She was rushing us from the moment we sat down. She blamed the Monster she was drinking for talking and moving so fast. I found it odd that she had it over by her computer too . The soup and salad came out before our appetizers. Our chef and food was great - no complaints there. We were actually eating our meal and she comes out with dessert and asks if we need boxes for our food. Well, we are STILL eating, so we are not sure yet. THEN she brings our bill - while we are still eating and asks TWICE if its ready. We noticed there is an 18% gratuity on there and her response was "ooh yea, but you can add more if you like" - um NO we are not adding a penny more.
