We frequent most of the waterfront restaurants from Clearwater to Hudson by car and boat. We have eaten at Captn Jacks in the past. It seems their prices have gone up while their food and service quality have declined. This past Monday we were seated and started with a dozen raw oysters. We were shocked to see them priced at $21 when most area restaurants have them at $15 per dozen so we figured we would get 12 big, fat oysters. They arrived and they were mostly small. After eating 3 stringy ones struggling to get any meat out of the shell and then coming across 3 that were basically empty we call the waitress over to notify her of the poor oysters. We showed her we ate 3 and showed her the 3 that had hardly any oyster in them and she said we could return them. So we did. Our meals then came out, I had the grilled Mahi sandwich ~$14. The filet was the size of a McDonalds Filet O Fish square, only thinner. Certainly not market priced. When our bill came we had been charged $12.50 for a half dozen oysters even though we ate only 3 subpar oysters before sending them back. We asked to see the manager. We told him about how poor their expensive oysters were and that we sent them back after eating only 3. I told him they should "Chuck and Check" them prior to putting them on the ice tray for serving. He argued that these are the "exact oysters we always serve." As if every batch of oysters are the same size and quality. He refused to adjust the bill for us and has lost a customer who is in a profession that recommends waterfront dining and activities to many locals and out of state visitors. Captn Jacks needs to go back to their roots and revisit their menu, prices, and unsatisfied customer policies or it will contine to decline.

Dont get me wrong Ive had a wonderful experience every time I went to eat here, but tonight was one of the worst experiences Ive had in any restaurant. Malia, I believe thats what our servers name was, she had to be absolutely disrespectful and condescending as possible for reasons we did not understand. She took half of the groups orders, then walked away and did not return until 10 minutes later, I had to call her over and inform her that she had not finished taking all of our orders. At the least, our food was great as usual, but Malia had not stopped once to check on us, instead sped past us asking abruptly "everything okay?", and next thing you know shes already 10 feet away. Drinks were never refilled, we had to keep our eyes out for her to wave her down to get another round of drinks. After all of that she had assumed everything ordered was in one whole check, had never bothered to find out if anyone was splitting orders. When she was informed all she could reply with was "I wish you all would have said something earlier." As much as I may understand that yes, we could have made that clear for her in the beginning, but the condescending comment was not necessary. On top of all of this, she added in her own gratituity price that was unavoidable, and also increased the price on all of our checks TWICE! I definitely love this restaurant and it will continue being one of my favorites, but next time and every time, I will go out of my way to make sure I never have this girl serve us again because she was completely degrading to the establishment.

Worse experience ever. Where do I start, lets start at hostess stand. We ask to sit next to the water with a party of 5 she said no cause they couldnt put a chair at the end of the table. Then we tired to sit at a table with 6 chairs and she told me no. They were not busy at all. Then they said they couldnt sit us till the fifth person got there. They put us in a corner over looking the parking lot. What a nice view that was. Then we tried to order a bucket of beer and we wanted to split it with 2 buds and 3 bud lights. They said no. The beer is in the same family and they always done it before. The sign evens says bud or bud light. Then we order our food and we order 3 salads which came out. Then our food came out 10 minutes later, the girl that drop our food off had head phones in her ears health code violation and didnt bother to take the dirty salad plates with her. We had to set our dirty salad plates on the ledge. When our food came they were missing one guest food. Now the server never came back to check us. We waited 10 minutes and finally I got up and went to the bar to get a soda refil. Then I told another server about the missing food. Mean while our server was leaning against wall with her back to us. Never checked in us once. Then a manager came over and was not friendly. Our mussels was cold. The whole hour and half we were there we only seen server maybe 3 times.

I live right next to this place on the anclote river went once and was not a fan of the food, didnt go back for a long while, tried to go back again yesterday with my family 3 adults 3 children. Got a rude waitress with a serious attitude, Ashley was her name. To start with our children were well behaved one didnt even eat all he wanted was celery food took forever, drinks took forever and I was baffled because there were maybe 15 people in the entire restaurant. Ordered oysters steamed the waitress said they only. One raw they have many things on the menu that are steamed so we asked if they could just steam them and she said "well its not the the menu so,no" we werent upset that they couldnt do it we were upset with her attitude, when they came out they were on ice they were in a puddle of water, brought all the food out wings without celery only for her to tell us they were out. 2 minutes later another waiter walks out with celery to his table! To top it all off the waitress put an automatic gratuity which she did not mention to us and it was suppose to be for parties of 8 and above we had 6, 3 of which were kids, 1 of which ate nothing. This place has a potentially great atmosphere, good drinks, but horrible service and even worse food everytime we have gone I would not recommend this place to anyone trying to enjoy a good meal but for a good drink at the bar it is decent!

The food is good, but overpriced for the amount received. The ambiance is great since waterside dining is available. The price I payed for the four of us, we could have gone to a really nice restaurant. We had the conch fritters, a salad, shrimp, fish n chips, a sandwich and a piece of Key Lime Pie. Not much for $20 a person! The blond waitress totally ignored me. I have never had a waitress or waiter do that and I am an older lady. Even my 20 year old twins stated that they were surprised that she ignored me. Even when I told her I would take the check when you could get it, she gave it to the man at the table. I have worked in customer service for many years and I always tip 20% or higher. Today I struggled to give her a 10% tip and as I said before we had a high bill. We went to Capt Jacks for Fathers Day. It wasnt a very enjoyable time with the poor service. I dont know that we will be back and will let our friends and family know how expensive and how low the customer service is. Sorry, I usually give only good reviews but this meal was really very sad.
