On our last morning in Siesta Key, the weather was beautiful and we wanted to enjoy breakfast on a patio. Based on all the great reviews, we chose Sun Garden. It was a charming spot and the patio had a relaxed atmosphere. I loved the bright pink Bougainvillea climbing up the building at the end of the patio. We were there in the off season and Siesta Key wasnt busy, so we had no problem walking right up and getting a table. After much debate, I decided on the Elvis fried chicken plate, which was an open faced biscuit topped with boneless fried chicken, two eggs, and sausage gravy, and the top of the biscuit. My husband opted for the Cajun benedict. I asked our server about the sausage gravy because I much prefer a creamier white based sausage gravy to a greasier sausage gravy and she described it as a creamier gravy. When it arrived, it was definitely a more brown, greasier gravy. I was disappointed in that aspect of my dish, but the fried chicken was crispy and moist, and overall, the dish was good. It is a large portion that I couldnt finish, but my hubby was happy to polish it off for me! He really liked his Cajun benedict. If we visited again, I think I would opt to try a different dish, but overall, we enjoyed our breakfast and the atmosphere was worth coming back for.

Ive stayed st Siesta Key a couple times over the past two years and eaten at different places for breakfast and dinner. Sun Garden Cafe was recommended to me by a local and a year later I am still thinking about it and cant wait to return. The bacon was a good as the locals say it is. Not too salty. Crispy but not too crispy. Thick and just down right delicious! On top of that, the pecan pancakes and warm cup of coffee were just what my palate was craving! One of my favorite breakfast places on the east coast. If its nice outside, I recommend their outdoor seating as its comfortable, spacious, and there is some shade to keep direct sun off you. Dogs are allowed but there is a list of rules they expect customers to follow for the protection of other dogs and other customers. I saw a couple dogs who were on a leash next to their owner and were well behaved. This restaurant was very clean and the wait staff was attentive.

This was the best breakfast Ive had in Sarasota, and among the best Ive had anywhere. For perspective, Im not a fan of very fancy, stylistic food served in most high end restaurants. I much prefer simple food, cooked exceptionally well with high end ingredients. Sun Garden Cafe fit the bill. I had the Baba OReilly (spinach, avocado and pesto omelet), my wife had the sweet potato pancakes with pecan butter, and we split some of their amazing pepper crusted maple glazed bacon. It was all delicious. We sat outside, I also appreciated how nice the space they created was, with large tropical plants enclosing the patio, large umbrellas everywhere and wicker benches for chairs at some of the tables. The fact that the staff was helpful and friendly just made the whole thing better.

Great food. Scratch that amazing food. Bad service. Ended up ordering pancakes after our breakfast and thats when it went bad. While cuttting them, already having eaten two pieces of these $13 pancakes we found bugs in them and informed the weitress. With displeasure she said ok ill get new ones. Instead of three she brings us two. We thought it was a mistake but she straight up said: u already ate half! That left me stunned. We had two small pieces not half. And just to say that to a customer when we nicely thought wed be happy with the experience... Amazing food but If we saw the manager around Id say something. So disappointing.

If you dont have a problem waiting twice as long as you were told youd have to, and if you dont mind asking the manager politely to comp your drinks because of your more than an hour wait only to be told coldly that everyone has to wait (most other parties, even ones that came in after us, got seated in about the half the time it took us), and if he gave away free stuff to everyone (we had a total of 3 coffees and a coke - less than 10 bucks), hed be broke, then the food is worth the wait.

We ate here 6 times while we were staying in the area! Not sure I need to say anymore...! Theres a great selection of healthy and not so healthy options, all day breakfast options (particular highs were the Equinox breakfast combo, the Andy Warhol egg white omelette, the burrito and the sweet potato (and actually the regular) pancakes). We didnt have a bad meal ever, the setting is lovely, the service friendly and efficient, and the portions great value for money.

We just got back from a week-long vacation on Siesta Key and this place had the best breakfast around... We also went to The Broken Egg, Tiki in Sarasota and Continental Cafe and Sun Garden was hands down the best, though none were bad. The coffee we got everywhere but Sun Garden was very weak and on the verge of watery... The menu options were wide ranging and the four we ordered were all very good.

We sat in the outdoor area which was very nice. Its tucked in behind some tall vegetation which gives shade and some noise buffer. The hostess and waitress were pleasant. The hostess bot only asked us if we needed anything but addressed us by our family name. The hostess watched a dog while someone went in to the restroom. Friendly place.

I attended with a group of friends and the food would be considered average I think, by most people. The service was way above average, the menu was quite large and the food in my opinion was small. It may be what I ordered or people eat less for breakfast on Siesta Key. My bill came to $15 and change with tip. Is that now customary?

The Sun Garden is the absolute best breakfast in Sarasota PERIOD. Especially if you take advantage of the outdoor seating. It is a wonderful experience. If you are in a hurry go there when they arent so busy (weekends are busy). The reason they are so busy is that they are the best.
