This place was a major disappointment. After reading the reviews, I was hoping for a nice restaurant with decent food and reasonable prices; what I found was ok food, mixed service, and an $88.72 bill for 4 people. Thats $22 per meal at a strip mall restaurant with plastic plates! The service was mixed; two women served us; one was nice, and the other could care less. I was satisfied with the decent food, and the one good waitress, and was even going to convince my wife to come back for breakfast, but then the bill came, and I found all the hidden fees we never told about. We ordered a seafood paella that was listed as $12.99 on the menu, but then we were charged $18.70, because it was a "special." I didnt order the special, I ordered the seafood paella listed on the menu. I asked for two waters with no ice, and they give you bottles of water with no warning that they cost $1.50. I just wanted glasses of tap water, so I returned one bottle, as the other was already open. They do have large portions, and we asked for two boxes to go, and they charged us for that too, without notice before we already put our food into the boxes. And lastly, for any purchase over $10, they automatically include a 15% gratuity fee, listed in Spanish as "propina." If they were more transparent about their prices, more honest, and made it clear to us that gratuity would be automatically included, I would have had fair warning, and would not have been upset and probably would have come again, but because of their lack of transparency and honesty, Ill never come back, and recommend no one else does either. I felt like I paid 88 bucks for Taco Bell. Take your money somewhere nice instead.

I dont ever leave reviews, especially bad ones. I am not the one to complain about little things. But the service here and food is far from being anything good. The Cuban coffee is the only thing this place is maybe worth going for. My omelette was so bad, with chunks of onions and whole slices of unclean tomatoes, and saturated with oil fries. Who serves fries for breakfast?! She said I couldnt exchange them for anything and that they came with the meal, also coffee and the "toast" came with the meal. I got the omelette and could not take more than a few bites as it was so dry. I tried getting her attention for 15 - 20 min. And when I finally did and told her I did not like this food and cant eat it she still charged me for it! And said I should have said something sooner!!! I explained to her I tried to get her attention for a while. Plus she charged for the toast! Plus the tomatoes! It was so ridiculous, I told her do you not see how this is wrong? And how bad of customer service this is?! She didnt seam to care. I told her reviews are way more valuable to a place then some $24! I paid and left. I hope this review saves you some time and money.

So lucky to have this cafe close by our hotel. Delicious cuban food at a great value! First day I had the Ropa Viejo with rice and plantains, and it was so flavorful and delicious. Perfect amount of food. We ate breakfast here every morning. As everyone has said, the cafe con leche is soooo good, the cuban toast, the huge portions of eggs and the fresh OJ...wow!! The chicken empanada, the potato ball, the steak were awesome. Not as greasy as everyone says at all! The male server was so nice and the service was exceptional and fast. He even remembered what i ordered from the morning before that I didnt have to open my mouth :) A great casual place that helped to make our experience even better. Well be back there again year after year!

Worst breakfast in Miami beach. Their coffee and juices are great but the food is horrible. The omelettes were dry. My wife ordered a cheese and onion omelette but received a ham and cheese one. She sent it back and received just an onion omelette with giant prices of raw onion inside. The cheese was missing but we were charged for it. The "potatoes" that come with the eggs are soggy crinkle fries that were obviously frozen and then fried. Finally, in an act of horrible service, we receive the bill with an automatic gratuity charge (common in Miami) and the waitress asks if we want to leave additional gratuity rather than letting the customer suggest that. Absolutely horrible place. Id give it a 0 if i could.

ZERO stars if I could!!! I work in the customer service field and this restaurant has none! I ordered the omelet and it had WHOLE slices of tomatoes (and they still had the black core in the middle) and onions!!! Not diced, thick chunks! And the fries were saturated in oil. We tried to get the waitress attention and she ignored us for a good 15 minutes. When she finally came over, I kindly said I was unhappy with my food and her response was "WHY?!" She refused to comp my meal. I ate two bites. She said I should have said something sooner. I asked to speak to the manager and she said "no, just call the number on your receipt". DO NOT RECOMMEND!

After waiting over 45 minutes for the food, when it arrived it was highly, highly over salted. Our party of four did not each much of it. I ordered the breakfast special advertised for $5.99 but was charged $9.50. The waiter sold others in my party the fish plate that was not on the menu. I did not all the ask the price thinking it was in the range of other items on the menu. Of course, they charged $20/plate. Very sneaky! Then the bill came and a 15% gratuity was added. I had previously explained to the waiter that food was bad, but that did not seem to phase him one bit. I hate this place and you should too.

We found this place on our honeymoon and have been coming back ever since. Weve only ever ordered breakfast and its wonderful. How can scrambled eggs and ham be so special? I dont know but they are. It comes with fries, Cuban bread and coffee for $7.50 and its wonderful. The cafe con leche is...there are no words. The service is fine. The servers are so busy so dont expect a lot of chit-chat, we arent looking for that ever, but they are friendly enough and most importantly they get the order right. I dont know why this isnt rated higher because its a gem.

Tropical Beach cafe is a typical Cuban cafeteria which is refreshing to see in this area. With all the high-end dining establishments a mile in each direction this place keeps it authentic and are also easy on the pockets making this a good cheap meal. Service is slow and this is definitely not an in and out kind of place. Rated down as they lack the window shop feel you get from other traditional cafeterias and their menu has some traditional Hispanic dishes but there are no stand outs. The weekly specials are listed and are the better bang for your buck.
