Picture it - Valentines Day, 2014 and youve polished off a Laspada sandwich at the beach. Still.....youre in the mood for a little something as sweet as the guy youre with. "Lets Yelp French Bakeries", you suggest! Okay.......so you find this one on the route home. Most of the reviews mention that its Argentine, but pastry is pastry. So you walk in...... Immediately you smell the enticing aroma of coffee and pastry. You look in the cases and find so many luscious items looking back, that you dont know where to start. Palmiers are always a favorite......so is tiramisu, but why not have something youve not had before?? "Whats that big sorta lumpy pastry down there?," you ask the lady at the counter. She gives you a lovely smile and a small chuckle. She has obviously been asked before. Thats a "Balcarce" she says, "Its got cake, caramel, a creamy filling and meringue on the outside." Okay, Ive GOT to have one. You go to one of the nice tables outside and wait for your order to come out. OH MY! you dig into the light as air, crunchy meringue (which is all but impossible to maintain in FL) to find a smooth as silk creamy filling and the promised dulce over the sponge cake. It was just a tad sweet to eat the whole thing, but each bite was still a bite of heaven. My honey, being able to only partake of a limited amount of sugar, had gone with a classic NY cheesecake. We have a standard by which we measure all cheesecakes - the one we got from a NY deli. This one was so close that I could close my eyes and see the Empire State Building. Finally, a REAL NY cheesecake. The only negative I can come up with would be the decaf coffee. While I dont have any DNA for proof, it really looked and tasted like instant. If the coffee had been as good as the pastry, this would have been a solid 5 stars.

Crocante is a very delicious and cozy place to go whether youre looking to have a coffee, sandwich or a pastry. I listed some pros and cons below. Pros: - Coffees are delicious and presentation is great - Pastries also taste great and they have a large variety of items to choose from. - Employees are kind - Prices are great, better in every way possible in comparison to large establishments such as Starbucks Cons: - Cortaditos do not taste anything at all like a cortadito (cuban coffee). Id suggest learning how to make one or take it off the menu altogether. Its very easy to make or at least make something very similar. The cortaditos are supposed to be small and very sweet, the ones we have had here are too big and bitter. - Service is slow and sometimes a pastry will come out 10 minutes before you get your coffee or vice versa. Id rather wait longer to get everything at the same time since some of us like to dip our cookies in our coffee and things like that. Overall: Great location, food and experience. With just a few simple tweaks this could easily be a 5 star establishment!

Sure, the food is great and all. But let me tell you a story about working there: I was hired on spot by Daniela and given a shirt to start a few days later. There was a woman named Carolina who was supposed to train me. She showed me around, but barely had patience. So I was only set to do the easy things she showed me. Then an older woman came along, commanding me to do things I didnt know about. When I asked her to teach me, she did it with frustration and she ended up doing everything by herself. I stopped working a few days in. They said they were only trying people. Its really a waste of their time. Bottom line is that if you ever receive bad service, now you know why. Would not recommend working here. That Help Wanted sign needs to go.

The service is simply ridiculous 20 minutes waiting... I payed at 9:29 I get the coffee at 9:50 for one espresso probably they never run a business.. no in the U.S.. . good coffee, some arepa and frozen croissants.... no make a great cafeteria people go just because they no have alternative the other latin cafereria is at least 3 miles away.... waiter very rude... when I asked why so long for a coffee? they didnt apologize and ask me where I am from ..?? well you should worry about your service and no where the customers are from.... the cashier get very nervous and moody when have more that three customers in line and never smile... also they use Italian name and they arent.... the ceiling is disgusting its mold or decoration. ...??

Here is why I mark this a 1 star..the food is good however the service is horrible, Management really needs to get organized, train their staff and not charge customers twice. I even asked for managers in order to state my concerns with service and they never even came to see me...they were AFRAID to. The owner, Daniela, I thought was about to cry and I didnt even say anything yet. Why even have a business open if you refuse to approach customs and apologize for your hectic business? Sticking with Manhattan Bagel...

This place always amazes me with the great food and service. The sandwiches are great and so are the salads....but best of all, it is a real nice place to go after you go out to dinner to get a nice cappuccino or coffee and a dessert while sitting outdoors by the beautiful fountain at the WALK. The cheesecakes are outstanding but my favorite is the Balcarce. It is a meringue/peach/cream dessert that is to die for. Go and enjoy!!!

Me encantó !!!!!!! Por fin un buen marrón, café que sabe a café. Si eres venezolano no puedes dejar de ir, vas a encontrar los postres que veíamos en nuestras panaderías. Excelente ambiente.

Garbage place, dont go. We ordered a cake for a birthday a week in advance, they charged us over 110 dollar and when we picked it up it wasnt ready, they rushed to put some crappy frosting on top, nothing like the design we ordered, it looked like a $ 40 cake from Publix. Never coming back, dont put in their hands an important cake as you will be dissatisfied.

Someone described this place to me as a "Cuban Panera Bread," Id have to say its WAY better. Freshly baked, local food from a local family. Get here earlier because they tend to run out of popular items (which isnt bad, since they bake everything every morning and nothing goes to waste). Excellent cortaditos, excellent empanadas!

Good food. Soups always deliver good flavor. Baked goods are exceptional. But they are slow. For some reason they cant handle being busy. You can never tell who is charge and they argue a lot with each other. They should really consider a shift manager for lunch at least. The food is better than the service.
