My family seems to have a fascination for Ryuu That escapes me. I have eaten there twice, ordered sushi once. My Comments, First blush, The restaurant is appealing, bright and clean. The issues arise during the seating process when the cattle call system seem to apply. Suggestion: Check with the hostess for often to ensure you are not being skipped.. I do not like the fact that they have ensured that there are at least 2 bad seats at each grill, that are actually behind the chef. On the Food - Portions seemed fine, But hit or miss on consistency and seasoning. I think our last Chef was probably new. LOSE The Potatoes with the steak... Sushi - Only have ordered 2 rolls, will not likely order more... I do not like KRAB, Kani, or whatever they call it... I worked for several years in the Bering sea inspecting the Japanese surimi (Fish meal) processors and have no desire to eat it regardless of the advances made in disguising it. every time I go to a restaurant and order sushi, I specifically ask regarding the pedigree of their fish, and if they use any "Substitutes". Ryuu Server (Christy L.) said it was all fresh with no additives... Speaking of our server and the overall experience, She was OK but seemed quite harried Maybe they need to bring on More servers and cooks? or maybe they are having troubles keeping them..When I made comment on departure regarding the situation, The individual indicated he was the owner, But didnt really seem to care. Best Of Luck Ryuu... I am sure my Family will be back, But I wont be financing the trip

Fantastic food and friendly staff. Advertised a "2 for 30" deal. We discussed the deal with the hostess and manager, and we heard both discuss it with the waitress. Sat down and ordered. After a 5 star meal, the bill came. Meals were charged individually at full price. When we pointed this out, the server said "I know thats what you wanted, but you needed to order two meats each to get that price. You only ordered one meat each. Sorry!" Im not going to make a big scene in the reataurant over a few bucks, and Im not going to dock the cooks share of the tip due to a conniving waitress. However, if you knew we wanted the advertised deal you should have asked us for the second meat when we ordered. Not sure why the waitress would blatantly play this game.

My friends and I attempted to go here last night and a cockroach came out of my friends napkin/ silverware. We had the waiter take the plate with the roach on it, he then tried to sling the Roach off of the plate onto the floor in the middle of our eating area. When it didnt come off he took it to show another employee then disappeared into the back. No one came back to our table for 20 minutes and that was to deliver an appetizer. No manager or anyone addressing that there was just a bug in our stuff. When we told them we were leaving they didnt even try to apologize for the cockroach. They just let us go. Do NOT go here. They were closed for health reasons and clearly still need to be.

Took my 2 daughters there tonight. I ordered a vegetable plate and was shocked at the amount I got!! I looked around and everyone got the same amount! For the amount of food you get from this place save your money! They try to fill you up with the rice and then at the very end they try and give you noodles?? WTH?? Why would you want all that starch? They need to give you more of the actual food and not so much starch!!! Cost $80 bucks for the 3 of us and like I said I got the vegetable plate!! Wont go back again! I am use to taking home left overs, there was not even enough to fill me up with what was on my plate! Complete RIP OFF!!!

If I could rate this 0 stars I would. First of all, there were two cockroaches crawling over our table within the first 20 minutes. The servers didnt show any concern or sympathy and didnt even give us a discount. They wouldnt even kill the roaches for us.Then theres he food which I can easily say was the worst Japanese food Ive ever eaten; The rice was unusually sweet and the noodles had zero flavor.Not to mention the cook seemed less experienced than cooks Ive had in previous restaurants: he couldnt do the egg trick right. Overall, from the Japanese steakhouses Ive been to in the Brandon area this is easily the worst one.

Hostess, oh hostess, where art thou? Nobody up front to talk to us to greet for 5 minutes. Plenty of workers just standing around and on phones. Despite having a reservation for a birthday dinner we are sat with some regulars while other customers having their own chef. We were sat first (a good 10 minutes before) but the regulars were always served first through drinks and the dinner. Have no complaints about the chef, courteous and quick. Cant say the same about the wait staff, was lazy and sarcastic. Can rest assured were not coming back here unless under new management.

Came in a party of six with a birthday dinner reservation 3hrs before close. Server (Starr) seemed in a rush to get us out of the less-than-half occupied restaurant. We were barely seated before we were being hounded over what we wanted to drink/ eat. No drink specials mentioned or menu items suggested. The moment we acknowledged we werent having dessert the check(s) came with the trending haste (mid meal, actually!). The food was okay but the service left a sour and lingering taste. Simply put NEVER GOING BACK.

Food is actually very good, but the service is terrible. I blame the owner for this. We used to go in and order a variety of meals for the table and share among the group. He came to our table one evening and rudely stated this was not permitted and each person must order a meal attributed to that person and sharing is not permitted. We figured out he lost quite a bit of money that evening, as well as several regular customers. Individual service is also very hit and miss.

I arrived around 2 pm waited more than 10 min for the waitress. After serving us drinks waited 10 more min so she could get our order. We ordered suchi and wanted to order more but waited too long and when she returned came with the check without asking if we wanted anything else. She was very fast when she returned to get it. For the price awful service. By the way we were not even 10 in the restaurant. I will not recommend this place and I will never come back.

I work at the Mall and I always have a wonderful time when I choose Ryuu as my lunch or dinner destination. The staff is always courteous and expedient. The food is great and a wonderful value. Sushi is fresh and well made. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated, but not "stuffy." Great food, great service, great restaurant!!!!

I go to this Ryuu location quite often and today was probably one of the best times. We had the best waiter ever his name was Joel I highly recommend everyone request him, he said it was his 3rd day on the job you would think he had been trained for this his whole life. Hes a natural. Great service, great food.
