This small family owned sushi shop has been our families favorite for several years. It is the only restaurant that all 5 members of the family agree on, and our teenagers prefer this restaurant for outings with their close friends. The food is head and shoulders above other shops in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area and the price is competitive. As a family who has been treating itself to sushi night at Tokai for at least 10 years it is incomprehensible that someone would have been served bad sushi here. I simply cannot believe it, and recommend this small restaurant to anyone who loves quality sushi.

Tokai is a brilliant gem tucked away in a shopping mall dominated by a Hooters. We have eaten sushi at least once a week for thirty years. This is one of the best places we have been. The fish is fresh, they use good sushi rice, the miso is robust and flavorful and the presentation spectacular, the staff attentive and helpful. Worth driving 25 miles out of your way for this place. Prices are very reasonable much lower than our favorite places at homeinHouston.

Pleasant and attentive! They made my custom makimono and it was delicious. I was surprised to find they charge 50 cents for refills, but thats not too bad. Although I wasnt told this ahead of time, that would have been nice to know. It was a tad warm in there, but I only noticed it when I first walked in and I adjusted well to the temperature soon after. Ill definitely be back though!!

Excellent Atmosphere. Janice, Paul, and the rest of the staff treat you like family. They are friendly and fast. The restaurant has seen better days, but it does not detract from the always delicious food and wonderful service. The osumashi soup is great, as is every roll my wife and I have tried...which is most of them. Dont forget the red bean and green tea ice creams!

I do not get to this restaurant as often as I would like. My only excuses are that I live far away and I do not work close to their anymore. With that said, this is my favorite place to eat sushi in Tampa. A lot has to do with how I have been treated there even when I moved and came back to the area. Excellent all around!

This is one Japanese sushi restaurant my wife and I have visited the most frequent. We are always been greeted like family and received the professional services. Owner head chef, Paul, is always make sure every dish that come out of his counter is fresh and prepared right. Enjoy dinning here!!!.

Great family-owned restaurant. It has been a fixture in the area for more than 10yrs. The sushi is the best Ive had here since moving down from San Francisco, and the servers are always nice. The wait time is also very reasonable all the times Ive been there. Definitely one of my favorites!

Love this place. Friendly staff, great prices and ridiculously delicious food. That beef teriyaki dinner aint no joke. Its was cooked perfectly and served with crisp veggies. The sushi there is always fresh and the miso soup is awesome. Cant wait to try different things on the menu.

I started coming here a few weeks ago because its near my work. Oh my God what a nice surprise this place was! The sushi is really good. I havent tried the ramen yet, but I will when I get a chance to sit down, rather than ordering to go. Fabulous experience so far! Yum

I never review sites, but felt like this time its necessary. Not sure how this has a 5 star average... WORST SUSHI I EVER HAD. The raw fish was warm in rolls, everyone at the table got sick. Will never eat here again... Youve been warned, eat at your own risk :-/

Based on all the good reviews I decided to try this place. I walked in and didnt think I was going to like it but the food was really good. My husband enjoyed the food as well and we plan to go back. Give it a try.

Wonderful family atmosphere here. Delicious fresh food. The chef is super friendly. Kids loved it here. Food is also delicious. The Ramen broth was super light. Will definitely come back again
