Turkish food is largely the heritage of Ottoman cuisine, prevalent throughout the Mediterranean reaching from Central Asia to the Balkans and even Greece, a remnant of the influence held by the long standing Ottoman empire of days past. The Turkish empire continues to expand even today, well, at least as part of Central Florida’s culinary world. Cappadocia Turkish Cuisine took over the long time standing Cafe Italiano restaurant on Semoran Blvd a year or so ago. The interior is very much like what you would expect a Turkish restaurant would look like after minor renovations to an Italian restaurant – additions of hookahs, some paintings of Turkish seaside. Italy and Turkey are after all both Mediterranean countries. It kind of felt like walking into a Turkish family’s dining room and, in a way, like crashing a family dinner as we were the only non-Turkish in the house at lunch. Several other diners all appeared to be conversing in Turkish with the owners – always a good sign for an authentic experience. Service here is a bit of a hit and miss, though, with some need of polishing around the edges. Sesame toasted pide bread – lovely, slightly sweet Turkish bread… The restaurant is named after the eponymous Cappadocia, the historic region in Turkey known for its beautiful rock fairy chimneys and rock cut temples, coming from a name of the ancient Turkic kingdom dating back to before the time of Alexander the Great. For our appetizer, my dining companion and I order the cigarette borek, tasty little cylindrical scrolls of pan fried Phyllo (shaped like tiny cigarettes) stuffed with feta cheese, savory and crunchy. Cigarette borek, stuffed with feta cheese Fried Calf livers from Cappadocia Turkish – a popular appetizer, but ultimately, not for me. For our entrees, I had an exceptional chicken adana kebab platter over fragrant rice pilaf with lettuce and tomatoes and my companion had a similarly tasty beyti kabab made with skewered lamb mixed with parsley and garlic. Our only complaint is that we wish we had more of the lovely skewered meats. Chicken Adana Kebab – Chopped chicken flavored with paprika and red bell peppers, grilled on skewers – $6.99 Beyti Kebab – Lamb flavored with parsley and garlic, then grilled on skewers and served with homemade pide bread and rice – $6.99 Doner kebab is a Turkish dish made of meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, normally lamb but also a mixture of veal or beef with these, or sometimes chicken. The dish is also widely known by its Arabic name “shawarma” or the Greek name “gyros”. The doner here is made by hand in house, rather than the processed gyro meats that we are used to at the Mediterranean stalls at the mall food courts. Here at Cappadocia, you can order your doner with rice or as a sandwich in between two slices of fatty pide bread. Make sure to specify which one you want. The lamb gyro (doner kebab) sandwich is now one of my favorite sandwiches, and also one of the most filling sandwiches I’ve had in a while with layers of sliced lamb stuffed in the warm, fluffy sesame toasted Turkish pide bread along with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, lathered with some spicy sauce and tzatziki. I would definitely return for some more Turkish delights. Turkish cinnamon tea and Traditional Baklava for dessert

Although we have two Turkish restaurants where I live (Texas) I usually do not go there to eat because only their names are Turkish but their foods are not. I have been in Florida about a week and went two Turkish restaurants so far.The first restaurant I visited was Babylon in Miami. The environment and foods are good, but not the servers. I do not know why but none of those servers smiled for about 2 hours that we spent there. I do not know where to start to write about Cappadocia. Cappadocia brings you the delicious homemade Turkish foods with the same taste which made me feel like I was back in Turkey. I have never ever tasted that much delicious Turkish food in the past 5 years I have been in the U.S. If you go to Cappadocia you will experience how nice they are and the great fast service. I bet you will feel like you are at home. If you like Turkish, Mediterranean, or want to try different food, you should definitely visit Cappadocia.

My family just took my mum to Cappadocia to celebrate her birthday and we had a really enjoyable time! We appreciated that it was a family run buissness, that they were willing to answer our questions about the menu and portions, and that they made us feel welcome from the start. They were really kind, attentive, and polite as they were serving us. Then the food came and we were blown away by the flavor of the food! We enjoyed everything thouroughly and really appreciated having an authentic experience! I live in the area and was glancing at the lunch menu which I looking foward to trying. I gave Cappadocia 4 out of 5 stars because I am looking forward to coming back, trying out and getting to know the menu, and giving it that final star! Thank you Cappadocia for a little slice of Turkey!

Ate here for lunch and we were surprisingly the only party there based on the number of positive reviews on Yelp. Despite of that, the food came out fresh and was delicious. We got the chicken kabobs, beyti (lamb) kabobs and moussaka, all of which were quite tasty. I can see why some reviewers complained about the lunch portions. Although we left full, we all cleaned our plates. Overall, the presentation, with all the food crammed into a small plate makes it appear that portions are smaller than they are. Service was very good as well. One knock would be that the place needed some sprucing up. Will definitely come back when were craving Mediterranean food.

I went there with my wife for the first time wanting to enjoy our lunch and food. There was only one woman who was serving 3 tables. She was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I asked her a question about tahini sauce and if they have it so I can add it to my shesh kabob and she tells me they dont give it for that, only with falafel and walked away. I couldnt believe what I heard and witnessed! If you want to go and enjoy your time then dont go. If you just want to pick up the food and eat at home then youll be OK. Terrible woman and terrible service. Im disgusted that such attitude exist in a place where you are expected to get good customer service.

Let me tell everyone this. I am from NYC specifically Brooklyn and I know Turkish food very well as Ive been eating it since I was a child and this place ranks up with one of the best Turkish spots Ive ever eaten at. Ive read some negative reviews and these complaining people are not too bright. The food is so good and the staff is equally as good. There are not too many servers that Ive noticed so people shouldnt be too hard on hard working servers trying to please large crowds. Trust me on this one this place is bar none the best Turkish food in Orlando.

I absolutely love this place and go frequently. I find that a lot of the negative reviews come from customers who know little about Turkish cuisine or choose to come last minute on a weekend. For example on one of my visits a couple sitting next to us asked for a vegetarian kebob- this does not exist in Turkish cuisine. This is not your fathers barbq it is a Turkish restaurant. And yes the food is amazing so they DO sometimes run out- it is not a franchise restaurant its a small mom and pop type place. Call ahead if youre coming late :-)
