Came in at 2am. Was not warned about any extended wait or anything, and they had a decent sized staff for late night. Two servers were in the back just rolling silverware and a few working the floor and a host. Everything was messed up from step one. Drinks came out wrong. My order was well done fries and sliders. I got undercooked friend and burnt sliders. My friends whole breakfast was almost cold when we got our food some 40 minutes after ordering. I also ordered a tomato juice with my meal that never came. Also didnt see our server again to ask for at least another 15 minutes. My friend and I were both very hungry but debated just leaving and going somewhere else. The server rolling silverware was very reluctant to finally help, but did so eventually for a couple minutes with a lot of attitude. Then proceeded to sit down again with the other server and keep rolling. Things that should have been taken care of: 1. The server was swamped, a competent manager would have noticed and backed her up. 2. When your stressed, learn to not pass it on to your customers. 3. A simple warning that the wait would be a bit longer than normal would help set expectations. 4. In the mens bathroom there was urine on just about everything. 5. Servers should ALWAYS take the extra 20 seconds or so to write down the order, NOT commit it to memory. Especially when its too busy to properly fix a mistake.

If there was any other place where I could get a cup of coffee at 5 am different than my own kitchen, I would never set foot in there. Its unbelievable how bad the service is. Take it from me, cause I live across the street. Ive been here about 4 times now, in different times of the day. Its inexpensive, I must say. Besides that, this brand new restaurant has nothing else to offer. The waiters are clueless. No idea of whats going on. Its 6 am, there is nobody here and the service is still slow. The crowd is usually very loud. Seriously: there was not a single time when I got what I actually ordered. Staff usually look like they will be murdered by the end of their shift. I cant really blame them. Just another cheap restaurant chain offering jobs with no benefits, poor or minimum training (at best), making people work longs hours for peanuts. If you are looking for anything above 1 star meal, go somewhere else. If you come here, top 20%, no matter how bad service is.

No star was not an option. This is and was the worst experience ever. Entering in the lobby was a red flag. It was very early and the front lobby looked as if it wasnt swept ever and the interior was chipped and the paint on the walls faded and unwelcoming. We were seated after being ignored by the young female hostess. We had a party of 4. After ordering drinks we sat for 5 more minutes, the waitress brought syrup containers and stated, "here are the clean ones". Moments after a roach came crawling from behind the syrup containers. We jumped up immediately and told the waitress and left. If there are roaches in the dining area there are roaches in the cooking area it is very disturbing for a restaurant of this magnitude to have a bug problem. We were highly disappointed.

My friends and I had a fantastic experience on December 1, 2010. I just wanted to express my appreciation & gratitude for Aarons service. There were seven of so we were seated in the private room in the back so we could be as loud as we wanted. The manager, Chad, even stopped by to see how things were going and let us know the TV would be hooked up next time so we could watch "Dancing with the Stars" (something none of us watch). Aaron took the time and energy feel like special customers. Its rare to get such kind service, especially during the busy holiday season, so I wanted to make sure he was recognized. I will definitely visit the Columbia Heights IHop again. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Dis place is horrible!!!!! Upon arriving had to wait 20 mins to sit dwn and there was no one before me waiting. When my party of 3 sat dwn we waited another 15 mins for a waiter to come and greet us but keep in mind the reataurant was not crowded. They only had two tables. She did not have water when the waitress came to our table. She was not friendly and i did not feel welcomed. She was very dry with a straight face. My waitress had dreads and alot of tattoos. She did not look customer friendly. So i will never come back here...

I usually expect IHOP to be crowded on a Sunday, but this time it's ridiculous. We arrived at 12:50, had our name on the list by 12:55, and they didn't seat us until 1:45pm. The line was disorganized and they didn't even apologize for the delay. They need to come up with a better system. People were getting into arguments over their place on the wait. Chaos. I much rather go to a small, mom&pop brunch place in DuPont. I'm way too frustrated from this experience.

I had a very traumatic experience at this location today. First off, one of the IHOP workers was arguing with a customer really loud in front of the store. Then as I was eating my food, I saw a mouse come out near the kitchen and was coming towards me. I almost fainted. I told the waitress that I was leaving and will not pay for this food. I was so disgusted and sick to my stomach. Ill be sure to report hem to the health dept. Never again!

Gay couples are frequently harassed here by other patrons. At best staff ignores it, at worse the wait staff tell the harassers they agree with them just within earshot. Lets not forget a gay couple was shot by other patrons inside this IHOP, staff didnt even call 911 as a gay man bled out with a bullet in his liver inside the restaurant - one of the other patrons had to. This whole place should get shut down.

This can be a bit of a madhouse after 2 AM (Half the time there is always a cop nearby, though, so I guess that is reassuring for safety?) when a lot of the crowd is there for capping off the end of their party crawl. But the staff is always super helpful and kind. I always get the omelettes so Im not overwhelmed by the sugar rush of some of the sweeter breakfast options.

The in house service is slow. The employees seem to not really care about whats going on in the restaurant (If its someone elses table I really dont care.) DONT ever order over the phone.. Youll have to wait for a very long time on hold, and when you do finally get to order, it will still be wrong when you go to pick it up..... Go to the other IHOP on New Hampshire Ave.
