I used to come to Cafe Deluxe ALL the time after I got out of high school and I LOVED this place.....would come all the way from Germantown to have their out of this world Chocolate Martini. Well I OF COURSE ordered my usual....after I spent five minutes bragging to my DC friends about how amazing their Chocolate Martinis were I waited for mine....it was TERRIBLE no cocoa on the rim no chips in the bottom and the it was weak and yucky. The food was pretty decent except for the gaspacho soup which for some reason I couldnt get my waitress to get me a spoon?? To top it off my boyfriend who I bragged up the place to got food POISONING from the crab cakes. HE threw up for TWO days....and hes still feeling quesy when we went out to eat for dinner last night. I will NEVER eat here again!!!!!!

Cafe Delux is a wonderful restaurant that I love visiting. The Restaurant is nice and bright and has indoor and outdoor seating. The carpeting helps keep the noise down as well. All orders are served with bread, butter, and water and the food itself is delectable. My personal favorite is the seafood pasta. As for dessert, I have loved the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream for years. It is the perfect balance between cold and hot. I also love the sundae which I tried recently. The toppings including hot fudge are what make this dessert so wonderful. The location is also great as there is much parking close by and it is near the National Cathedral and the Washington Ballet Studio.

1) The blueberry pancakes with eggs bacon were the saddest things Ive ever seen. The eggs were the fake kind. The bacon was floppy and chewy. It came with 2 thin and sad pancakes. Spending $3 on breakfast at McDonalds would have been significantly better. 2) The Turkey Avocado BLT does not come with Avocado slices. Its basically a guac spread that you dont taste. 3) it took. 35 minutes to get pancakes and a sandwich. Im not sure why it takes that long to prepare. The service was slow. 4) This place is overpriced and extremely underwhelming. There are much better breakfast places in the area. I wouldnt waste a meal here.

Last week, the waiter spilled an entire glass of ice cold coke down my back when he delivered our drinks to the table! My entire shirt was soaked, from my neck down. The waiter apoligized profusely and gave me a stack of napkins. That was it - no other compensation was offered and I was charged full price for my meal! On top of that service was slow, entree salad portions are small and there were flies all over because the doors are open to the patio seating in the summer. Will not eat there again.

Cafe Deluxe in Cleveland Park was open for July 4th. We had a lovely waitress named Lena. Great service and a delicious July 4 burger. At some point during the lunch we noticed a line forming outside....an older group had suddenly converged, with some wearing kilts. A sudden influx of customers meant the staff and kitchen were slammed. Management and staff carried on professionally and promptly doing their best to feed the teeming mass. A hearty Well Done is deserved by Cafe DELUXE!!

The menu is interesting and the food is good. The wait staff was prompt, helpful, and courteous. Portions are not large, but are sufficient. Their menu appears to change at some point during the day. I got breakfast at 1pm on Sunday. Im all for brunch, but would have appreciated at least a couple of sandwiches to choose from as well. I visited in winter. If you care about temperature, the rear of the space (near the kitchen) is markedly warmer than the front (by the windows).

Great food. Very nice service. A bit pricey by our midwestern standards, but in-line with what I have paid for similar food in Washington this week. My son said the cheeseburger was the "best burger he ever had." My wife said her turkey club was fantastic. My other son and I really enjoyed the blueberry pancake special. We waited about 10 minutes for a table for 5 after church on Sunday at the National Cathedral. Not a bad wait, and well worth it for the quality of food.

The food was okay here. I was annoyed at the waitress at this resturant, she was very rude to my table. I think she thought we were poor since we were all spliting meals and drinking water, but it was a lunch time and we a table of four who just wanted a small bite. The food was fantastic though. Croque Monsieur and the Grilled Chicken sandwich we ordered and everything was good. I loved the look of the resturant, it was very pretty inside.

Nice atmosphere and decent burgers and steaks (with much more on the menu). Restaurant wasnt busy an hour before rush hour and our food came out fresh and hot in less than 10 minutes. Desserts and shakes are good! Note: Street parking is plentiful on Wisconsin, but disappears during rush hour. Pay attention to parking signs and restrictions or you can be towed. No designated or off street parking (common for this area).

Super restaurant . Service soigné . Goûté les cheesburgers (avec un supplément bacon.) Même les frites sont bonnes et c est un belge qui vous le dit... À ne pas hésiter !

We arrived on Sunday at 8:55 AM. We were quickly seated and our order was taken. The food arrived 40 minutes later. Didnt see our waitress during that timeframe. My husband had to quickly eat part of his breakfast as he had a 9:50 appointment at the Cathedral near by. My eggs Benedict were cold and the bread was hard. Worst service and breakfast ever.

I was there with my family on a Monday night, and we really enjoyed it. The food was very good, and the restaurant was quiet enough for us to talk. The waitress came by frequently enough that we felt taken care of. However, she didnt get some of the orders correct, which was frustrating, and prevents me from giving it 5 stars.

The food here is very serviceable but the price for the quality of food is definitely out of perspective. The food was slow in coming out which was blamed on the kitchen but it arrived hot and tasty. This place does appear to believe that it is serving food that is much higher quality than is actually what is presented.

Sit at the bar at happy hour -- the happy hour menu is limited but thoughtful. The bartenders give excellent service, and you never feel rushed. Table service is a little more wobbly. During brunch, youll get better service, in part because theyre trying to get you satisfied and then out the door. Try the flatbreads.

It has a bistro kind of vibe and great outdoor seating. Ive been here for lunch (better on weekends) and brunch as a local. The food is alright--I dont wake up thinking about it nor pass by craving anything. Standard fare. The servings are generous so ladies may want to share a plate and appetizer or salad.

We were at the National Cathedral and needed to eat so we stopped by this Cafe/Diner. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and the dishes were much better then the fast food alternatives in the area. Typical diner fair, which was very good and not expensive.
