Heard nothing but amazing things, so I was very excited to check this place out. After arriving on a busy Saturday, was told to come back in 15 minutes. This is normal so far. After arriving back at the restaurant, a women had an issue so the hostess left her post for 5 minutes. (Warning signs?) Finally, we checked back in worth the hostess and told we were next to be seated. Another 5 minutes later, we finally were. Waitress wss great with explaining specials, and getting our drink orders. Little upset about the lack of options for sides and the menu didnt even list side salads (which waitresses told me no worry its only a few dollars -ended up being $5!). After our food was dropped off by a kitchen boy, we sat around waiting for 10 minutes for our server to show up with ketchup and asked for some butter for the dry English muffin, and a refill on coffee. After 20 minutes of setting the next table overs waitress 4 times finally asked HER for our butter and coffee which she promptly got for us (Never saw our waitress this entire time). Finally gave my card to the hostess to get cashed out because our waitress apparently ditched us... Meatloaf burger was amazing. Only positive thing I can say about my experience. :(

My family and I went there for branch for my b-day (just 3 people, not like a huge party).First waitress spilled the drinks saying that she is going to bring extra napkins...never happened. We placed an order, after 60min waitress asked us how is everything... what everything, we just had water, yes is delicious but we came him for branch! She informed us that kitchen is behind... really, I think we already knew that. After 90 min we received our food!!!! Actually, my husband received his, rest of the family had to wait another few minutes!! Yay, it was ok, but at that point we were so hungry that anything would taste amazing. I asked for quesadillas just with sour cream, no salsa. Got everything, but did not bother to say anything just asked for extra sour cream. 5 min later some lady comes in saying that they open new sour cream but it did not look good so they throw it away. I lost my appetite at that point, how old is your food in your pantry?!!. To top it off, the waitress started cleaning our dishes and decided to leave a pile of dirty plates right in the front of me in order to serve another table. Really????!!! We just wanted out, and forget about this place. Too bad because place looks nice.

I just attended a wedding ceremony and reception at the Pond House, and it was great! It was an evening ceremony, and the party room was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights. The service by the staff--from coat check to hors douerves to the buffet--was smooth and efficient. Last but not least: the food was fantastic! Buffets at weddings can easily be bland or lackluster--its hard to suit many different palates--but the food at this reception was healthy, well-balanced, and flavorful. My favorite was the salmon topped with sort of sweetish compote (I couldnt really see it since the room had mood lighting) and the beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection--rare, but not bloody. Im not in Hartford often, but if/when I come back, Ill be sure to swing by again!

The cafe is in the middle of Elizabeth Park, which features ponds full of ducks, rose gardens, and places to just sit in the sun. The cafe itself has a spectacular view of the pond, which is visible to all patrons. In warmer months there is a patio and a firepit. The service is very good. Well trained, with attention to detail, no cutting corners because theyre feeling overwhelmed, and friendly to boot. The food is also excellent. I went for Sunday Brunch. I had a BLT omelette which was very good, and the menu has a bunch of different inspired items, including huevos rancheros. The fresh orange juice mimosa was also delicious. Also nice to know youre supporting local and organic food production. Will definetely come back again!

Went to Pond House Cafe this morning for brunch using OPEN TABLE. The waitress asked for our drink order but failed to tell us they had run out of waffles and french toast. We asked about pancakes and they didnt have that either. We asked to speak with Louis the manager and he didnt care and made no suggestions on any other items. Whats up with that? They have no toast, flour, eggs, or waffle maker? It was two hours into a four hour brunch. We paid for the expensive drinks and told the waitress that we were leaving. When I got home, Pond House cancelled my Open Table reservation making it impossible to write a review.

We just had our wedding at Pond House Cafe on June 27th and we were amazed with the venue! Susan was our wedding cordinator at the Pond House and she was awesome to work with and very reassuring, which was helpful with planning our CT wedding from SC! She made sure that everything was set before the big day and she was there the entire night of our wedding making sure everything went as planned! They made sure all of our little details were perfect for when all of our guests arrived and the space was beautiful as always! I would highly recommend Pond House Cafe for any event!

Went there Saturday July 11th. Food was fantastic and the service was very cordial. The scallops were perfect! The filet was cooked perfect and the flavor spectacular. The dessert special was high end cheesecake in a panacotta format. Delicious. I am going back again this Saturday and bringing 2 more friends. We are part of a food group who selects various restaurants in the state to try...generally high end places. This food is among the best we have tried. Glad we found this gem. The BYOB is a great idea too! joan-southington

This place has a great brunch that is relatively inexpensive. There are not many kids choices here, but theyre likely to find something. Check the menu before you go, there are items that change seasonally, if not more often than that. If you can get a seat outside on a nice spring or fall day it complements the experience. This is a nice place to bring family when they are visiting, and you can work off some of the calories by walking around Elizabeth Park afterward.

The food is great, and the atmosphere is even better! I love to come here for a nice lunch after a walk around the gardens. I recently went to a couples cooking class here and it was amazing! The food we cooking was incredible, the teacher was patient and attentive, and the group was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it to anyone
