Bad service, mediocre food. We came there on Valentines Day so it wasnt even that busy. A male waiter told us to choose any seat. We did but after a few minutes still no menu. Finally, I got up and asked for one. My husband ordered fish and chips, the menu said it came with 2 sides. Our waitress informed us that the chips counted as a side. We asked her, "So if we order fish and chips without the sides, we will only get fish?" Makes no sense. So she held firm on no 2nd side, but then offered to give us "extra fries." Wow. So technically he got fish and chips with one side (which was a tasteless rice pilaf). When she brought the food we again expressed how confusing that was. We asked if there was a manager and she said she was the manager for the night and that she asked that the menu be changed before because she agreed with our observation. Another waitress we asked said that chips do not come with the sides, just part of a meal. What annoyed me was that our waitress pretended to be sympathetic but then went and asked a cook, and I could tell by her body language that she was like "chips is a side, of course!" I guess she cant read menus well. My husbands fish looked just like Van de Kamps frozen fish and my pancakes were rubbery. I was surprised by the reviews. I didnt try their ice cream, but I hear that might be their only redeeming factor. Maybe they should stick to it.

He estado en este establecimiento en una única ocasión, pero puedo recomendarlo a ojos cerrados. Atenciones de primera y productos de calidad insuperable a un precio razonable es la mejor forma en que puedo describirlo. Amé por completo el servicio de meatloaf que ordené y esa batida de cookies and cream estaba deliciosa. Volvería una y otra vez a este acogedor lugar.

Went for icecream takeout tonight. Ordered 4 things. Small single scoop cone, a single scoop cup (gummi bears added), a second single scoop cup (with a tbsp of whipped cream and a cherry), and a single scoop sundae (a tbsp of hot fudge, and a tbsp of whipped cream). The amount of icecream was the equivalent of a hoodsie cup for each order (small cups on each). $23.06. I paid basically over $5 each for for the equivalent of 4 fancy hoodsie cups of icecream. Although I appreciate the old-timey charm the place brings, they need to make a reason to stay relevant. Hoodsie cup sized portions doesnt do it. Ill take my business to the chains (or better yet - Grassroots in Granby).

Worst Experience Ever. Went here after a play next door. Waited over an hour for our food. They werent even busy. Waitress never came to our table except to take our order. I had to get up and get our waitress 3 times because she never came to our table. Once because she gave my daughter a kids cup that was cracked and leaking juice everywhere. Once to get our bill! Wont ever go back. The staff stayed behind the counters the entire time. My kids were so aggravated as well as other people at other tables. Horrible.

My family and I just went for Ice cream at about 10:30pm. When the server brought the ice cream it was visually unappealing. After about 2 min of being serve the server Emily rushed me to pay the check because her ride was waiting for her. I paid and stay maybe 10 to 15 more minutes. Our server was still there, so she lied to get us to pay before we finished our dessert. I will never go back to this restaurant that makes it customers feel as if they will be skipping out on the tab.

Our server Emily was awesome! She gave our party of 6 great service and she was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and sweet. The restaurant was very busy but she made time for us and didnt make us feel like she was in a rush. We saw other reviews about the bad service so we lucked out! Maybe everyone should ask for her. The food was ok. We didnt get dessert but the menu looks really great and there were a lot of people in line for ice cream.

I give this 4 stars with reservations. I love the old-time atmosphere. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The ice cream is delicious. Menu items are overpriced. More than once an order has been not quite right. Helpings are not very generous, especially for the price. The food itself is just ok. The outdoor seating is nice in the summertime and the price for ice cream, while expensive, is on par with similar establishments.

Ive been coming here since I was very young. The food is defiantly frozen before preparing for service, I do agree with that. On the other hand, the quality of the food is good, especially the ice cream! I normally have really good service here. However, a while ago I had one waitress that seldom came over to my table to ask how we were doing because she was too busy talking to another customer...for 10 minutes!

Food was mediocre at best..but the people and service were great. I ordered the breakfast burrito and grilled potatoes. The eggs in the burrito were thin, as if instead of scrambling, they did one flat pan and just folded it over. The potatoes were clearly reheated and some of them were cold. They were also very greasy. Milkshakes here are $6.95!! But really nice people. Would not eat here again.

Wait staff was pretty bad. 10 minutes in, still no drinks for anyone...had to remind them. Food was mediocre at best; the corn beef was chewy and rather light. Potato salad was horrible, and our burger was severely undercooked (Almost raw, completely pink.) What was once a great place, has been filled with cheap labor, budget food, and disappointment.

This is a family restaurant supposedly known for their ice cream. They have a variety regular food...and an average variety of ice cream flavors. I find everything to be overpriced but that is because of its location...West Hartford. If you are just looking for diner type food or ice cream, this is a popular locale, especially on weekend mornings .

Do you like your omelettes just barely warm? Do you like it when your waitress completely tunes you out while youre ordering? Do you like waiting 50 minutes to get food for two people (when the restaurant isnt even crowded), just to realize its not even what remotely close to you wanted? Husband and I were looking for a new place to eat and I recommended this place due to the fact that as a child I would come here all the time and it was great! So I said well lets remind me of my childhood and boy was that the wrong thing to do! Im not sure if this place had had new owners since but the food quality was awful

Decent food, good service and great ice cream selection. One of the best diners in the area, nice clean atmosphere inside. While its not mind blowing by any means, they provide exactly what a diner should and do their job well. Would recommend coming here for those looking for a traditional diner experience and some ice cream.

The food was okay, service was okay but the bill was $19.52 I gave the waitress two twenty dollar bills to get change for the tip and she asked me did I want money back from the forty. I guess she ASSumed I was leaving a $20.48 tip NOT! I tip at 20%, and if the service was excellent I give more, but not more than the bill!
