Positive: We had the "half-bacon" burger on a pretzel roll which was really good! They pre-cook the bacon & mix it in with the raw hamburger, which means you can order it rare if you like. The fries were pretty good too even though they arent freshly cut. I asked our waitress what kind of ketchup was in the bottles, she said its just the regular Heinz. I mentioned that I dont do well with high fructose corn syrup, so she told me about one they make in-house thats like a ketchup barbecue sauce.. not my thing but it wasnt bad. They cooked the burgers rare as we ordered & both of our plates were sent back empty! They do charge extra for the pretzel roll, but its reasonable.. definitely not high as to rip someone off like many places do. While we didnt have any alcoholic beverages, we did notice their big screen they have up with different beverages with descriptions including locations which made us curious to go back for another visit. We didnt order any appetizers, but looking To their menu they do have a good selection, including appetizers that are very reasonably priced! Will be nice to do back & get a few of those & try one of their specialty beverages. Negative: Its on a narrow side street which isnt really bad, but youd easily pass by it if you werent making sure of where youre going. The sign is flat against the top of the building, not sticking out towards the street so if youre looking up youd notice it.. even our waitress said she passes by it when shes coming in for use shift! They dont offer Coke or Pepsi, but rather a local cola which in my husbands opinion was a little under carbonated.. to each their own. Our waitress while nice & was understanding about my good allergy, she never checked to see if we needed refills. They also do charge extra for the house made ketchup & mayo.. (not sure if thats a positive or negative..)

Decent beer. Worst service I have experienced in 10 years, mediocre food, condescending management. If you are a Prime 16 fan from other locations, dont even bother stopping here. The New Haven location has much better food, even if it isnt that tolerant of children. Weve gone to the Orange location twice. Both times they made multiple mistakes in our order. The first visit the wait staff was pretty good and really seemed to try to fix the situation. The second visit was horrible. Meat was overcooked to the point of dryness and fries were undercooked, greasy mush. Despite not eating half the meal, and not asking for an adjustment, the manager tries to make us feel like we were getting a crazy deal because he comped one adult burger that was not edible, despite the fact that the kids didnt eat theirs either. We couldnt get our water glasses refilled to save our lives and when we needed something, we had to flag random employees passing by. Then, the clearly ill-equipped server volunteered that even though it was their fault that they forgot the cheese on the kids burgers, they werent going to charge us the $1 for the cheese - and she actually said this "because we go above and beyond for our customers." Unbelievable. That $1 really shows how much they value their customers. I felt like I was in a Saturday Night Live skit. Never ever, no matter how desperate, we will not go back to this establishment. Prime 16 Orange is NOT ready for prime time.

I had higher expectations for this place. The burgers are only good because they have a zillion different unique toppings. The problem is, toppings do not a good burger make. If the meat aint good, fancy toppings are nothing (and theyre skimpy, to boot). This thin, lifeless patty does not shine through like I expected it would from a place with so much hype. I consider myself a bit of a burger aficionado, always searching for the rare creation that will send my tastebuds to other dimensions. If you like fast food burgers this will definitely be an upgrade, at a price. If youre used to high quality meat freshly grilled medium-rare (or whatever your preference may be) and juicy with explosions of flavor that escape verbal expression and stifle all senses other than taste and smell owing to the intensity of the experience, then I strongly advise you dismiss what youve heard and give this place a nice, big pass. The only redeeming factor is their special that allowed me to sample this unworthy slice of cow for a lesser fee. But that meal was forever wasted; lost forever is the burger bliss that could have been had I had the foresight and knowledge to seek out a quality morsel of the hand-formed meat I hold so dear to my heart. On another note, the dessert was ok.

Great burger and really good fries, especially the sweet potato fries. I think I had the lamb burger and mixed fries both times. It was really crowded and noisy the two times we went, but the food makes up for it. The waiters were nice too. Some idiot college kids threw something that almost hit me in the head across the restuarant, a waiter came up to me and apologized then went over to those guys and kicked them out. Or at least he said he kicked them out, it was so crowded I couldnt tell, but just the acknowledgement was nice. Seriously though, their burger and fries are really really good IF you can handle the noisey crowd. Skip Louis lunch and head over to Prime 16, you will thank me later.

There are many reasons to make Prime 16 your new favorite place. The burgers are creative, delicious and served on fresh soft roll and the fries are exceptional. Recommended: The stuffed mushroom burger. There are fantastic happy hour specials (1/2 off all draft beers; 20 choices) and beer tastings from different breweries every Wednesday at 7. These beers arent your ordinary beers, belgium beers like Delerium Tremens, darker beers with fruit and toffee undertones like Unibroues Trois Pistoles, not to mention microbrews from all across the U.S. The staff is friendly and eager to recommend a beer you would like. Highly recommended!

Change isnt always good. As soon as they went from a chalk beer list to superfluous TVs things deteriorated. The beer list is still one of the best around, but youre forced to stare mindlessly at screens that cycle just fast enough to not let you read, then have to wait through to come back again. The happy hour no longer has wings (RIP), even if the new small plates are decent. The street tacos were tough and dry, but the burger bao was tasty. The burgers arent what they used to be, the fries are in a tiny tin. Four star was for the memory of what Prime used to be, otherwise itd be a hard 3.

Hands down the best burgers I have ever had in my entire life. The menu contains no less than TEN different types of burgers. I have tried every single one of the options in the menu as of early 2016 (their menus do change periodically) and they are all top-notch! My personal favorites are the Cowboy Burger and the Cajun Patty Melt. Also, my favorite sides are the Cajun Tater Tots. If you are in New Haven, you have to try this place!

A good upscale burger joint. The burgers are excellent and come in a large variety. Starters are very large. In general the service is good, though during multiple visits we did encounter the odd ill-mannered waiter. The decor is nice, but the lack of soft materials makes the place very, very noisy during busy hours. Drink selection is excellent. All and all, this is one of the best places to eat around the New Haven city center.
