Date: 22 June 2016, Time: ~ 23:30 -- 0:15 My friend and I (party of 2) went there on a Wednesday, 22 June 2016. We arrived around 23:30. We chose this place because on their website, they are said to open until 1am. "Sunday - Thursday : 5pm - 1am, Kitchen Open until Midnight". Drinks: Our cocktails were very good, but they were rather over-priced. Given the price, itll be more of a once-in-a-while place for me, rather than a regular spot. Service: The barmans service was good, no complain there. However, around 0:15, we were told that they were in fact closed, and we were asked to leave immediately. This was strange for me because it does not match the information on their website (1am). Because of this, we were not able to enjoy our cocktails. To make matters worse, when I asked the same staff who told us to leave about the closing hour on their website being at 1am, his reply was that its under the discretion of the manager (which I presume he was?). I found his reply extremely rude, as he did not address that fact that their websites information is incorrect, and the tone of his voice was not a kind one. A much better response would be for him, 1) to acknowledge the websites information is different, 2) to say that they would amend the website saying that its under the discretion of the manager, and 3) to recommend a different place nearby. Conclusion: I shall not be returning any time soon given the bad service I had. It ruined our evening out and I felt very embarrassing in front of my friend that evening given that it was my idea to go there and we were kicked out mid-drink.

116 Crown, you are too expensive! Dont get me wrong. I like what you do, I like getting dressy and pretending I know how to be hip for an evening, and after all my work in sustainable agriculture I certainly appreciate any/all emphasis made to local and organic sourcing. Plus, I have had some unique drinks and tasty bites here over the years. But I am confused by the exorbitant prices of everything--food and drink, cocktails and drafts. New Haven is not Manhattan, and Id like it to stay that way! Nothing (nothing!) on the menu seems reasonably priced, and when you think you can trick me into paying that kind of markup for a Red Stripe...well, youve crossed a line, mister! Let me know when I can afford to come here again! Until then, Ill be adventuring elsewhere.

Avoid this place. Extremely overpriced, pretentious and totally ridiculous. I ordered one of the 2 draft beers they had available. One was Palm, the other was a Harpoon White IPA. It was served to me in an 11 oz glass. Yes, 11 ounces, as in less than 1 bottle of beer. That beer cost $8. Yes, $8. Totallyabsurd. I would pay $8 for a beer, but it would have to be an exceptional, high ABV craft beer, and I would have had to know what the price was before ordering. The draft beer does not have a price on the menu, but on no planet could I ever expect an 11 ounce crappy Harpoon beer to ever cost anywhere near $8. Never going back.

The cocktails here are strong and on point! Admittedly theyre also pricey but so worth it. The Fourth & Clyde is a favorite - spicy and refreshing. The Jolly Rodger is also very good but I prefer it on the rocks instead of straight up. The truffle French fries make for perfect late night snacking. The ambiance is super unique - from the lit up bar and the artwork on the ceiling, to the cacoon-like plush booths. Intimate and trendy. I will definitely be going back for more boozy treats and small plates.

The creativity level of the cocktails here is off the charts. Servers and bartenders were friendly and ready to offer suggestions or answer questions about their drinks. I have only had the appetizers from their food menu but everything tasted great and had excellent presentation. Drinks from the menu are a bit on the expensive side (anywhere from $10-$20, depending what you get) but are made with high end alcohols. This would probably be a great place to take a date for dinner and/or drinks.

On our travels to Connecticut we came across this cute stylish bar, we have asked te be seated outside, despite the upscale and elegant interior we were disappointed with the outdoor furnishings. However we loved the touch of fresh garden including vegetable and herbs touch. The service was very mediocre. The server did not attend to us much. With little attention to details and a simple improvements on the service this place has to potential of 5stars

This place is great. I went during happy hour and had the margarita noir for $6. It was a great drink! Not the gross sour mix kind of margarita that I was expecting for that price. The service was just the right amount of attentive. The only drawback was the lighting in the bar. There are halogens in there, which were kind of strobing. All in all I will definitely go back there next time Im in new haven.

All of the food is good and the drinks as well. Its a strange place though. The layout wastes a lot of space and besides the beautiful backlit alabaster bar, its a bit dark. I give it 4 stars because while the service, food and drinks are very good, it doesnt feel worth the very high prices. $18 for a cocktail!? $12 for a tiny appetizer!?

Possibly my favorite happy hour spot in new haven. The food is really good especially the octopus tacos, and the cocktails are great for the price. I do wish they had more variety with the drink options though. I get tired with the cocktails, having some affordable beer options during happy hour would bring be in much more often.

Very good experience here. Its a little pricier than some other places in New Haven but the value is there. Ex. Ordered a glass of red wine and got the amount worth 2 glasses. They made custom Irish coffees for us. Ended up staying there for a few more drinks and met the owner. Very amazing service and atmosphere

Overpriced, super pretentious place where theyll charge you 50% more for the same cocktail any place else can make. Outside of the bartending, the service is terrible. Food quality questionable. Once a friend asked our waitress what beer she recommends, she casually suggested one that ended up costing $32. Classy.

Been there twice. The first time was on a quiet night so I actually got food (eventually), which wasnt nearly good enough to justify the price. The second time I went for a drink, but after waiting at the bar for half an hour without getting one I gave up and left.

Forever my favorite bar! Extremely unique bar with amazing atmosphere. Its definitely more expensive than the your average bar, but it is worth the price. Anytime I have friends visit from out of state I bring them here its just something you need to experience.

Loved this place. Got the meat and cheese picnic - incredible, especially the whipped ricotta with bamboo charcoal sea salt. The cocktails are also very good and come in a huge array of options. Tip - the lounge I the back is amazing if you can get it.

Great drinks, great appetizers, portions small, but playfully presented. Its an experience. I disliked the sriricha mayo they have on multiple items. but I love the booth seats in the wall. Weird little place, but I like it, a lot.
