El Pulpo is a diamond in the rough, located on a street with many auto repair shops and strip malls. But as soon as you walk into this restaurant you feel transported. The place is filled with white table cloths, friendly staff, a great wine list and food to die for. If this place was in West Hartford Center it would be impossible to get a table! We had nearly all the tapas they offer. Id particularly recommend the brussel sprout salad, baked goat cheese, roasted vegetables, garlic shrimp and peppers stuffed with lamb. We drank two bottles of spanish red and ended the meal with chocolate lava cake and an amazing orange flan. I will definitely be back here the next time Im in town.

Too expensive and over prices for the quality of food, food is good, prices are like a high class restaurant. I have had authentic dishes many times before and they were not truly authentic. My wife and I have visited and tried dozens of Spanish and Mexican restaurants in the past few years. Staff was truly very nice and friendly. Other customers chair collapsed on them a few feet away from us. On average it was a long wait for food when it was not busy. I guess you have to try a variety of restaurants and experience the qualities and differences.

The food was so delicious! The tasting menu was worth every penny and each of the 5 courses was amazingly unique. It is a small place, the tables are tightly arranged, and it is chilly by the windows but the food makes up for the shortcomings of the environment. I would be a regular if I lived nearby. If you are in the area this is a must try.

We have now been twice to this lovely restaurant. The food was excellent both times. Weve tasted just about all the cold and hot tapas and loved them all. Tonight was the octopus salad, eggplant salad and the the Shrimp, Stuffed Peppers, Mussels, and of course the cod fritters. All delicious..then the wonderful profiterol. Well be back!!!!

Ate at the Middletown location today. My husband and I both ordered Paella, one taste and we found that the mussels were SPOILED! Management did nothing other than say they were sorry, no replacement or anything. Last time we will recommend or eat at this place.

Just tried Pork chops with sweet potato mashed and it was really good. The Croquetas de Bacalao delish! Nice and clean restaurant. Dont expect 5 stars but very very good. Good portions, good taste, great price & great service. Definitely will go again!

Very good, wonderful ambiance, very good drinks. Although it was not too crowded... dinner took a very long time, but only two waitresses. But overall the meal was very good... there were 8 of us and a baby. I Will be back

Food is 4 stars, interior 4 stars, service 3, time to get food 2 stars. As other review said - on the outside looks like crappy pizza shack - looks are deceiving though. Only if food came sooner Id rate it higher.

I dont know where to start. Friendly, food is amazing and wine/drinks are delightful. Marlin dish is to die for. Tropical Mojito...you wont have just one. Patio option with all the above. How can you say no?!?!

The food was absolutely amazing! Everything is made fresh to order from scratch! The portions were also generous! Katrina, our waitress, was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and cuisine.

Great presentation and the food was very tasty. I had the special which was a 3 course meal. Crab cakes, salmon entrée, and dessert. All were excellent and it was only $20. I will definitely go back

The food here is great and we we were happy to try something a little different than the other Spanish food. Just be aware the prices are slightly higher but the quality of the food was superb
