I just went to dinner with my husband at the beachhead in East Haven. It was our third time in the restaurant since we live in the condo next door. The first two times we went the meal was "passable", but this time we both agreed NEVER to go back!! The service was terrible...the waiter was nice but he appeared to only be able to serve one table at a time. Thank goodness there were only three tables full when we were there. Even on such a slow night, it took 45 minutes to get our appetizers. Then I found a fly in my dinner. I had only eaten a few bites when I discovered the critter. The waiter was very apologetic but when it was pointed out to the manager....I guess it was just too bad for us!! We were charged full price for our meal despite our unwelcome guest. Reading other reviews, I see that this is not an isolated incident. This owner does not understand the concept of compensation in the restaurant business when something gross happens to a customers dinner. The fact that we paid full price for our less than half eaten meal due to insects in the food just seals the decision for my husband and I to NEVER return to the restaurant and to do our best to make sure that our friends understand that this is not the cleanest place in town!

Had gone a few months back with a few friends. EXTREMELY slow service on that particular day. I ordered the dill chicken sandwich & it was served with a burnt taste to it. I decided to return last week with my daughter who wanted to try the Beachhead...EXTREMELY slow service, especially since there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. I ordered the fried shrimp roll with French fries. Extremely pricey for a shrimp roll with only three shrimps on the roll. To their credit, the shrimp was very tasty. Will never return to the Beachhead again. Highly recommend Sandpiper, which is definitely worth the longer lines & wait time.

We arrivedxaround 630 p.m. were greeted warmly by the hostess. She immediately let us to the table of our choice. Within minutes we were greeted by our server . he introduced himself and took our drink order and then our meal order we ordered the French onion soup & it was delicious and delivered us in less than 10 minutes my. Fried scallop& clam strips was a high pile on top of a generous portion of French fries coleslaw and condiments. my wives meal which was drunken clams was large and delicious . neither of us finished our portions highly recommend coming here one of east havens hidden gems

Dont go if youre looking for a water view. Although the restaurant bills itself as "overlooking the Long Island Sound," the best views in the first floor dining room afford a vista of only a sliver of water between two condominium developments. Underwhelming, at best. The food is fine and the service good. The prices, for the food and portions served, are probably about right, if a hair more expensive than you might otherwise expect. (Though not as expensive as other "water view" seafood restaurants in the area.) I wont be going back.

Slow service. Food was nothing special. It was dead while I there, still took 45 mins to get an appetizer. Zuppa De Pesce was small and like water. I ordered it red and the sauce looked like they rinsed an empty sauce can and poured the water on my plate.
