Ive been to Barcelona for dinner a few times and was served an excellent meal and received great service. However, I went there on New Years Eve with a group of friends and was disgusted! The dark-haired male bartender was inappropriately touching the blonde female bartender (sticking his hand down her pants and into her underwear and f*nger** her). Let me make clear that this was not sexual harassment - she fully allowed this. He would then proceed to make peoples drinks without washing his hands! I was in disbelief at first, so I stood back for a minuet to make sure I saw what happened correctly and he did this four more times - at least. I pointed it out to my group of friends, who also witnessed this, then said something to the male bartender myself in disgust and asked to speak to the manager. He claimed the manager was not there. BEWARE when buying drinks. That is absolutely disgusting and the Health Dept. should be made aware of this!

My absolute favorite restaurant in New Haven. They have a rotating selection of tapas (in both flavor and price) based on season and whatever the chef is in the mood for, INSANE entrees (try the paella), a few solid draught beer choices, and a very well-stocked bar which they use to make a number of exclusive cocktails (try the Whiskey Root or the India Orange Trade, theyll hook you up even if its not on the menu). The bartenders are the most knowledgeable, friendliest bunch Ive ever run across. These guys are good -- its like each one of them is a sommelier thats ready and willing to help you with your drink selection. As a matter of fact, I only ever eat at the bar. Ive been to the New Haven Barcelona, the one in West Hartford, and the one in Stamford and the New Haven location is by far my favorite. I could go on, but Im getting tired of typing right now, but, to wrap things up -- you should definitely check Barcelona out.

The food here is rather good, the service is generally very good. However, the waits can be mind-numbingly, soul-crushingly long if you dont have a reservation. And to be honest, the host staff can be, well, lets call it prickly, if you dont have a reservation. My wife and I went in there one Friday evening around 5:30 (we went straight from work), and unbeknownst to us, it was Restaurant Week. The place was busy, to be fair, but there were empty tables to be had. The host asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. Then he guffaws, saying under his breath not under his breath, "walking in on Friday Restaurant Week without a reservation." Way to go, pal, thanks for making us feel welcome.

Just drove down from Boston for the weekend in New Haven and was floored by the excellent food. While it was a loud (call it exuberant, or maybe fun) crowd, the tapas were incredible (dont miss the hanger steak with salsa, asparagus with black truffle oil, and sweet potato fries) while the dulce de leche dessert and the flan, with an espresso chaser, were the perfect ending. Good Spanish wine, excellent wait staff, and better than usual bread made for the best meal in a long time. Only disappointment: the swiss chard with pine nuts and yellow raisins. Very average. Maybe it is that restaurant week starts in two days, but the restaurant seemed at the top of its game.

The food and service was excellent but there was a very loud group seated near our group of ten. We could not hear each other or speak to each other because of the loud group and although we expressed our concerns to the management, we were told that the other group was a group of teachers and they were there for a celebration. We were also there for a celebration . We paid over $600 for our dinner and will celebrate at another New Haven restaurant next time.

Had dinner there and the service was horrible. Kids waited on us and it showed. Environment was childlike and the manager didnt care about the experience of the clients. He was too busy talking to a server all night long. (did not look or sound like it was business) this place has gone downhill, dont embarrass yourself go to one of the many other hot spots in New Haven. They need new management ans servers there. Food was mediocre! Not worth it!

Myself and my sister were here on Friday evening for tapas. We ordered drinks - she ordered a tequila and I, a bourbon cocktail. Both were really good. The food itself was good - a fried goat cheese dish, patatas bravas, chicken croquetas and vegetarian paella were all really good. Also, this place isnt as expensive - total tab was $70 inclusive of tips. I do recommend reservations - it was really busy on the evening of Good Friday.

great vibe — both for a bar & for dinner. waitstaff are usually on top of their game: they are incredibly knowledgeable about wine. there are some really stand out dishes here, including the chicken pimientos and the charcuterie boards (my favorites are the valdeon, salchichon, cana de oveja). i would steer clear of the seafood paella — it lacks seasoning and is flavored solely by tomatoes and overcooked seafood. not worth the price.

I absolutely love the atmosphere of Barcelona. Only restaurant in New Haven that needs no outdoor labeling to ientify itself of one of the tastiest places to eat. Truly impressed with food and pleasantly surprised about the late night DJing and opportunity to show some moves! The tapas may be small but are packed with flavor! Ordering a few and sharing among friends is definitely the way to go! #Residencybingo

The atmosphere is very loud, crowded and you are literally sitting with the next table. Our tapas dishers were cleared midway through the meal - server mistakenly thought we were finished. That was alright until not all of our party received new place dishes; and we could not get his attention to get new places. The desert wait for ice cream tapas - 25 minutes! Will not revisit.

The room is cozy and impressive. The welcome and the service were outstanding, Daniel our server. did a fantastic job. For appetizers, we chose oysters and foie gras (with Jurançon moelleux): tasty, well prepared foie gras and duck terrine. For the main course: a fantastic piece of skate with lentils and mustard. Fresh fish and delicious combination. Sorbet and espresso...

The food was good, the service was slow and after a couple of hours in this restaurant, I had a splitting headache. Way too noisy. It was Saturday night and very busy, so maybe thats why it was slow. Took forever to get the bill. The server was very nice, just busy. I would probably pick a different place next time because I desire to talk with my dinner companions.
