Former server of 6+ years. Arrived @ 11 on a Saturday, doors were locked but a smiling face was there within seconds to let my two friends & myself in. Sat outside and didnt really look at the inside. Dog-friendly is a HUGE plus. Patio area is half shaded, half full-sun. Small uni bathroom with terrible paper towel dispenser(open, rectangular metal basket) & placement(literally on back of toilet); if you dont want to use a paper towel with water drops & others feces/urine all over it, get there first. Although we were the only three guests for about ten minutes, our server seemed quite over our arrival and was short & salty with her words. After receiving drinks, but before food, more guests arrived & joined our group which required a larger seating arrangement. We waited a minute for our server before moving a table and chairs, however, when our server showed up, she told us not to move the wrought-iron, welded table as it would break and she would charge us for it... As the table had already been moved, we left it where it stood. Our group was also asked if we were hungover from partying the night before. Not exactly sure why that was asked, but none of us had a drink within at least 12 hrs of arriving. Bison steak tacos. Bison was as salty as any jerky. Slaw was overly peppered. Rice/black bean cilantro mix was tasty, but seemed pre-packaged & had a good 2" chunk of stuck rice. Apparently, splitting your meals accordingly is not an option so plan on one person buying or you paying an equal amount of the entire hill no matter what you ordered. For being recommended by a local as we walked down the street & having a 4+ review, the visit was a let-down and the only blemish in the middle of an unbelievably great day. Maybe it was an off day for the place. Maybe the staff, other than the one who welcomed us, were the ones hungover from the night before. Either way, I would visit again after exhausting other possibly positive options or recommendations.

The day after we moved to the area, we needed a hearty meal to replenish ourselves after the 24 hour drive here. This hit the spot (temporarily). The bison burger with spinach, roasted red bell pepper and feta tasted delicious, however, the feta slab was a bit too big with a circumference of 12 inches and a width of a 1/2 inch. It made swallowing the rest of the burger a bit harder, a little overkill. Apparently the human stomach was not meant to process that much feta at a time. 36 hours later, I felt so full that I puked... and it was undigested feta, followed by everything else I ate after that. I eat feta on gyros all the time, but the amount is smaller & it is crumbled. Its all about moderation. Our server was a breathy hippie woman that kindly directed me to the better dispensary in town without treating us like tourists. The only downside was seeing a different server, short haired brunette with a bandana, just walk up to our table, take away my plate when I wasnt finished. As she was walking away I asked in a confused tone if she was going to doggy bag the rest. She turned around, grunted, forcefully put the plate back down on the table without a word, goes back behind the bar, talks to the old male bartender loudly about her bad night & proceeds to give me a dirty look. Why did she just do all that? I waited for my server to come out so I could ask her for a doggy bag & she took care of us, which is why SHE got a $15 tip on a $25 bill that already included 18% gratuity.

We had a table with 7 including 3 children under the age of 9. Childrens menu wasnt very friendly...the Dino nuggets were literally something I can buy a bag of at the grocery store...nachos were very bland...could have used some extra sauce or something to liven them up a bit. We sat outside...some of the chairs were very uncomfortable...dogs everywhere (which was a burden since they all didnt get along)...very little shade. Only 2 wait staff on a super busy noon rush...we got waters with no ice (water was like warm) the waitress never came back to take any other drink orders. We waited a while for our food...which was so so. The price was pretty steap for the quality of food and the wait staff. Waitress came back 2 times and still no other drink orders. The seating was very unorganized outside...people waiting for a table and other cutting in front of them.

We waited 45 mins and noticed people that ordered after us get there food, eat, and paid. We asked about our order and the waiter argued that our order was placed after (not true). Food finally comes after 50 mins. Its room temp warm. Wife got the harvati sandwich and all the ingredients slid off the bread and was sitting on the plate. I got the ultimate grilled cheese and it was ok. The fries, it would have been less salty if I ate a packet of salt. Not once did the waiter check on us before or during the meal either. The name of the restaurant is fitting. Next time were looking for a place in Leadville to eat, well Pass on this one

The decor is fun and interesting- kind of older and funky. The food was very good. I had the Reuben. It was just right with crispy toasted bread. The service suffers. They charged our group of eight with an automatic tip, but refused to give separate checks OR ring us up at the register. Our waitress said we could really help her out if we figured our own bill. We found a pencil and got within about 10 dollars of the correct figure. My advice is to go with a small party andavoid the hassle. Great food. Bad aftertaste.

Not really anything positive to say about Tennesee Pass Cafe. The Black Bean Soup was as salty as the ocean. The Two Mile High nachos were clearly microwaved and cemented together like a brick. We asked for a Pepsi, and they said they were out of stock (who runs out of Soda?). We ordered a childs pizza, they came back after we ordered and said they were out. Instead we received microwaved chicken nuggets. Finally, we were told that we couldnt split the bill except in half of thirds (seriously?). Would not recommend.

After driving straight through from Santa Fe this place was an interesting and welcome sight. Even though we almost had a wreck** in front of the place, the grilled cheese sandwich and broccoli soup calmed me right down. Great staff and fast service- Will stop again! ** the near wreck was not caused by the restaurant or any employee of the restaurant, only me turning toward if from the left hand lane across two right lanes. The high pitch warning scream from my Wife got me back in my proper lane.

The food was great and the service good until the end of our dinner when we needed to pay. They did not except discover so we tried to pay with cash and were told they did not have change and that we needed to go to the gas station next store to get change. We were not pleased with this restaurant passing on their lack of preparation onto their customers. We are working up here pretty regularly and really enjoyed the food but will not be coming back.
