My family and I came here for a Mothers Day. My dad was the one who recommended this place and after glancing at the reviews on Yelp, I was excited to try it. When you go to the restaurant, I believe the front part is "open seating" and the back is the actual sit down restaurant, so we went to the back. We told the hostess we had 5 people so she said shell push some tables together for us. Not sure how many minutes we waited but we definitely waited several minutes too long. We finally got seated and tried to decide what to order. It actually took us awhile to figure out what to order and by the time we finished we noticed that no server even greeted us. Looking around, the restaurant was not completely busy, there were quite a few open tables, and I even saw most of the servers just standing around the hostess stand and talking to each other. We waited several more minutes and started getting aggravated. If I was not with my family, I would have just walked out, which I actually think they wanted us too since by now it was probably around 8pm and they close in 1 hour. Eventually my dad went to the hostess and told her no one has come to our table and asked if she could get someone to help us. I saw her walk away assuming she talked to the server whose table we are sitting at. However, several more minutes passed and Im sure my entire family and I were visibly upset. At one point, I think I saw the manager at the hostess stand just talking to the employees and even looking at our table, though Im not exactly sure if that was her. More minutes passed and by this time I was ready to explode. I told my parents that if no one comes in the next 5 minutes that we should leave. Very soon after that, a guy finally came to our table and apologized to us, said happy mothers day to my mom, and proceeded to take our drink orders. He proceeded to tell us that they are out of ribs and burnt tips, which the ribs were included in the family platter we were about to order. We were able to sub out ribs for another meat (we picked smoked turkey). I think since he knew we were very upset, he threw in an extra medium side dish for no charge for us. SO onto the actual food part. We ordered the family sampler that feeds 4-6 people which includes full slab of ribs, half a chicken, hot links, pulled pork, 4 sides (we got 2 sides of fries, mac and cheese, corn bread, and a free side of slaw), and Texas toast (which I just realized we never received), as well as a small side of sweet potato fries. As soon as the food came, almost all our anger disappeared. The platter was soooo amazing, I really wish I remembered to take a picture!! Everything was very extremely delicious. My favorite was the hot links. The chicken was somewhat juicy, the pork was soft, the fries were super fat but amazing and potato-y. My only complaint about the food is the smoked turkey, I felt it was extremely dry. Dipping it in the BBQ sauce made it a little better, but I would not order that again. Also, I did not eat the mac and cheese, but my brother didnt like it too much, he felt that the cheese was kind of powdery like (his words not mine). All in all, the food here is extremely well done, Im not much of a BBQ person, but this place exceeded my expectations in that aspect. Though the service is left to be desired, our server really made up for it. I really dont want to blame him because Im not sure if he was supposed to be our server and was just busy or the other servers just refused to serve us. Whatever it is, Im glad it was him. Id wish to give this place a higher rating, but after that experience on Mothers Day, a 3 is really pushing it. If they wanted us to leave before closing, they should have served us earlier. Pros: - Food quality - Our server - Seems local-y Cons: - Service is extremely poor

Just left with my fiancé. First I have to say the food was decent, We were overall happy with the food but my partners sliced brisket was not very impressive as it was a tad dry and the flavor was nothing special. But he also got the smoked turkey which was incredible. i do not like the new plating for the food. I took one look at my fiancés "brisket plus one meat" plate and I just have to say it did NOT look worth the 17 $. Looked like there was hardly anything on the plate, or tray I guess I should call it, just a few slices of meat with a portion of mac and cheese. I LOVED my meal- pulled pork sandwich. Everything else about the food was good besides the off-putting "tray" plate it was served on. Secondly, service was HORRIBLE. Our server Amanda, completely forgot about us. Im not the type of person that needs my server hovering over me, but my partner and I sat there with arms folded, clearly ready to go for 5 minutes (with her constantly walking past) before she noticed and brought us our to-go boxes and check. This is where I absolutely believe she forgot about us. I saw her finishing up with another table she had been serving. She returned their receit to them, they left, and I swear we sat there staring at each other for a solid 10 minutes. No sign of our server anywhere in the restaurant. And yes we were certainly looking. My fiancé finally got up to walk the restaurant and try to find her as we were fed up. Another server asks him "are you looking for your server?" To which he replied yes. Then, she came back and took our payment without even looking us in the eye. Needless to say we were NOT impressed by this. You know, its nice to sit down and enjoy a meal, but after sitting there for an extra 15 minutes waiting to leave, it really ruins the experience. As a return customer to this restaurant I am very disappointed to say I will not be returning. Ive brought my family here and eaten here many times and have never had a bad experience. This was the first time bringing my partner here and it was completely embarrassing to be honest. One bad apple can really ruin the bunch. Also, id like to note that her (husband im guessing) and infant baby were sitting next to us and she seemed more interested in that than serving. Hardly paying any attention to us, and going to pick up her baby and feed it by hand every time she passed. I get it, and I could forgive that if we werent completely forgotten about as soon as her child had left the restaurant.

The burnt ends were amazing. Everything else was great, well worth the trip. July 2016 Edit July 11, 2017: We ordered the Brisket sliced, what we got was a dry, crumbling pile that had likely sat on the steam table for hours. The Sausage, although flavorful, was very dry and couldnt stand on its own without a healthy slather of bbq sauce. The ribs were the high point of the meats, and while they were very flavorful, they were again very dry and pretty much all the meat pulled off the bone with one bite. A year ago, the Mac and Cheese side was something I raved about to friends; now it appears theyve changed the recipe to a generic one and its basically mac and cheese soup. No character and very little flavor. The high point of the entire meal was their corn bread which was amazing and still my favorite recipe for corn bread. I changed my score to 2 stars instead of 1 because the wait staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. Im sad to say that Ill only give this place one more chance and if the results are the same, it will prove why this is no longer called Colorados #1 BBQ restaurant.
