The absolute best Ethiopian restaurant anywhere in the Denver metro area. Ive tried the others and this is hands-down the best food. The service can be a bit slow, so dont go when youre in a rush to get in and out. However, the owners are exceptionally friendly and can easily accommodate large groups if you call ahead. The place is small and looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but its worth the visit. The injera is out of this world as is the rest of the food. I would go there every day if I could! They get an A+ score from the Health Dept and regularly win Best of Denver. Go check them out! Also note that they only take cash, so be prepared! There is an ATM across the street though.

We went to The Ethiopian Restaurant looking for a new and different experience, hopefully a tasty meal as well. BINGO.... My girls and I had a very delicious meal and a new -- Ethiopian -- experience. The owner and her father were very friendly, fun to chat with, gave very good recommendations for what to eat, and provided excellent service. Give it a try... come with clean hands, part of enjoying a new experience is learning that knives, forks, and spoons are not used eating Ethiopian style. Enjoy!

I have been dining here for close to 20 years. It has become a family institution where we gather with those visiting from out of town. The food is consistently wonderful. The owner and his family provide all the service and cooking so its like visiting their home. This place has become our point of reference for all Ethiopian restaurants. None we have tried have even come close to the awesome food and wonderful experience we have come to expect, thanks to the Ethiopian Restaurant.

Came here with my wife the other night. It was delicious. We got the vegetarian utopia and lamb and it was out of this world. So flavorful and definitely filling. I also ordered a mango drink which was the best mango drink I ever had. It was pretty much just blended mango and thats all you need. We will def be back. Parking was a little difficult tho. We had to circle the block a few times till we found a spot. Service was excellent. Waitress was incredibly sweet and helpful.

I went here beacause everyone else gave it good reveiws. While it was a good experience to try culturally different food, I didnt appreciate the server assuming we were idiots just because we were unfamiliar. The food was not bad, although hygenically questionable since all 3 people had to share a plate and eat without utensils. While Im glad we tried it and it was good company, I will not be returning

While the service is always slow, which I assume is because everything is made to order, the food is absolutely amazing. My two tips for this restaurant are 1. Dont over eat the sponge as it will continue to expand in your stomach and can become painful if you indulge as if it is Thanksgiving and 2. Its a cash only joint. No credit cards will be accepted.

A nice smaller place right on Colfax. Their combination plate is really good, but the food took over an hour to come out with no word from the very nice older waiter. After we finished after 30 mins more I eventually went up to the counter to ask for a box and the check and they promptly helped me. I would give 5 stars if not for the slower service.

Oh my god, this place is the best. It takes about an hour for them to make your food but man is it ever worth it! Ive been to several different Ethiopian places in Denver but this one is FAR superior to any of them and I always end up back here. This is not your suburban Ethiopian food! Family run place and fantastic food; definitely one to try!

"The Ethiopian Restuarant " wrapped up in one word...amazing!!! In my opinion the best authentic Ethiopian cuisine in the whole Denver area. Nothing I have ever ordered has been bland in taste but so yummy and flavorful. Lots of variety depending on your preferences. Would highly recommend this place as the top Ethiopian restaurant in town!

My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant on a friends recommendation and couldnt believe how delicious it was. We are now addicted to it and go about once a week. The owners are super friendly and the food is healthy, excellent, and reasonably priced. Weve tried the other ethiopian restaurants in the area and this is the best so far.

My family has been coming to this pragmatically-titled restaurant for 30 years. Never once has the food been anything but fantastic and never once has the slightly curmudgeonly owner of this establishment shows any sign of becoming any less curmudgeonly. One can not find better Ethiopian food in Colorado

This is a must for anyone that enjoys trying new food and experiences. The owner and his wife seem to be the only ones cooking and serving and I have been going there for years. Food is great, atmosphere is probably close to what you might get in country if lucky. Highly recommend it!!

Authentic food, no frills but decent food. The dining area seats 20 or so. The same guy who takes your order also cooks your food. All of our party enjoyed the family style service of this ancient food. This place is worth a stop for anyone willing to try new things.

Honestly, the first time I tried it, I wasnt a fan, but my boyfriend likes it so I went back, and by golly, I really got hooked on the flavors and textures. I dont love eating with my hands (Im sure theyd give a fork if I asked) but it is fun and different.

This place is amazing. Everything is cooked fresh and with flavorful spices. Id recommend going with 2 or 3 people since the combination platters let you try a lot of different dishes. If you go alone that is fine too because the entrees are fantastic.

The food is consistently delicious and the portions generous. Service can be slow, but its worth it. I especially like it for sharing with vegetarian friends. I have had nearly everything on the menu over the past 20 years, and never been disappointed.

This is simply the best Ethiopian restaurant in Denver. It never disappoints. And the family who make the food and take care of us are the best part of going. It is like being invited into their home and taken care of as treasured guests.

Good food, when it is open. More than once I have tried to meet people there for lunch, and found it closed. There were no hours posted either. It is too bad, because I would love to support them if they could keep regular hours.

Absolutely amazing! Hole in the wall but so worth it. Food is so so good and the people are kind. They do make everyThing to order so be prepared to wait a bit for the food. Several vegan options as well!!

Excellent meal! All four of us loved it. A little expensive, but well worth it. Also, they dont take credit cards so bring plenty of cash! I highly recommend meal number 3 (feeds four people).
