Well, this is both the first and last time I have ever eaten or ever will eat at Las Caras Mexican Grill. I dont even normally leave reviews because you never know when youre going to go somewhere to eat on an off day, but after this experience, I can confidently say that I will never be back. The service was pretty good. Our server was nice and we joked about me also having been a server in the past and literally laughed about servers getting peoples orders wrong because they didnt write them down. This girl wrote down the order. And somehow between her and the kitchen, it was wrong. Twice. We ordered the veggie burrito with no cheese or sour cream. Not too crazy, right? When they asked what kind of beans I wanted, I told them that I would like all three (pinto, black, and refried). The crazy freaking part is that I told the server THREE BLESSED TIMES that I DO NOT EAT CHEESE and to hold it. We get the food and both (girlfriend and I both ordered with no cheese) of the dang burritos are covered in cheese. No big deal, but they asked what was wrong when we didnt eat them and told them that we ordered them without cheese. They remade them. Which was pretty cool. Then, they bring the dang things out again and it only had one kind of beans in it (black beans). I am not sure if we just went in there on a super off day or what, but to mess something so simple up TWICE is completely unacceptable to me. No cheese, all three beans. It shouldnt take two attempts and STILL be something different than what Im ordered. They charge you for chips and salsa too, which is pretty bold. The food was alright. Nothing to brag about but it was mostly that it was not what I ordered. Cant say I recommend the place at all.

Let me say 1st that the food here is beyond amazing. Fresh, flavorful and made to order. I love eating here. However, my husband and I are loyal customers and eat here a few times a month. Im pregnant, and this food is definately a craving for me. Upon asking the woman taking my to go order to upgrade my red sauce smothered burrito to queso (the delicious red sauce unfortunately gives me hellish heartburn right now) I was told that I would need to purchase a small queso for $3.95, bringing my $10.95 meal to a staggering $15.00+ with tax. They have upgrade options for everything else, including meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, etc. But not for a few measly spoonfuls of queso. Adding together the cost of ingredients, labor, and electricity to make the queso, there is no way enough to spoon on top of a burrito is worth $3.95. Upon arriving to pick up my order, I asked a lady who I assumed was the manager/owner why there were no upgrade options for just a bit of cheese sauce, and I was told that the small was the "right size" for what Iwas asking for. It makes zero sense that I can get a huge plate of food for $10.95 but have to pay Nearly $4 for a tiny quanitiy of queso if I wanted some on my food. I know this all seems like a small deal, but seeing as we are a small family in a budget and eating out is a special treat, it would be nice to receive better customer service and A little accomodation for loyal customers. I dont expect free substitutions or extras, as I offered to pay for the switch. Its just too bad that good service is so scarce anymore, and greed and profit have taken its place.

The staff was very nice, and they can grill chicken perfectly but other then that its nothing to rave about. The salsa is oddly sweet, 98% tomato, 1.9% onion and maybe MAYBE .1% jalapeño. Seriously the entire little bowl of salsa you get with your chips had two Itty bitty prices of jalapeño in it. The chili Reno I am pretty sure was wrapped in a egg roll wrap which made it very crunchy which I like but over "battered" you couldnt really taste anything but the breading and cheese. The grilled chicken burrito was grilled perfectly, nice deep char marks but still very moist. The green chilli was pretty watery and flavorless The refried beans and Spanish rice both tasted like something from a super market. Nothing special, certifiably not the worst Mexican I have ever had. But also by far not the best. Unlikely that I will go back.

I had the stuffed burrito and I do not recommend it. It comes plain looking in a foil wrapper (think Chipotle) on a plate unless you pay extra for it to be smothered. It was not remarkable in flavor and all the hot salsa was on the far end. I would opt for the combo plates that have the sides of rice and beans. The decor is a little odd too, the walls have painted or drawn pictures of the businesses family and other random people too, it seems odd and not coherent with the restaurant. Also, you have to pay for chips and salsa which isnt a terrible thing but the waitress kept upselling without saying it was extra, first the chips then sides and extras for the dishes. Normally I am used to drinks and dessert but I thought that was a bit much.

This little place is lovely. Its always busy when we come but not so busy that the staff doesnt make sure everyone is taken care of. They dont seem to be assigned to a certain table so everyone fills your glass, refills your drinks, runs your check. Tonight I forgot to tell them I wanted green chili instead of red on one of my combination items and when I was angry (at myself for forgetting) they fixed what was wrong with no question and no issue without me even asking. Not many places would do such a thing when it was my fault for messing up my own order. I not only recommend this place for the service but the food is delicious as well. Have the green chili and something with grilled chicken inside. The fried rellenos are stellar too.

The thing that disappointed me the most was the chips and salsa. The chips came out in a very small bowl which we had to ask to have refilled several times and the salsa literally had no flavor to it. The salsa tasted like they took a can of tomato sauce and poured in canned cut up onions. I would definitely not go here for the flavor of the chips and salsa! I had enchiladas for the main meal and they were decent. There still wasnt much flavor to any of their sauces. Dont expect much from this Mexican place rather than tiding you over until the next meal. Taco Bell has more flavor than what I ate here.

My husband and my pregnant self frequent this restaurant often, at least once to twice a week. We are Mexican food fanatics. The food is always consistently delicious. The staff is so super nice, they r the sweetest most professional staff. The portions r very large, we always end up taking some home. Green chili is always on point, and their chicken is very exceptional! !! Never had a bad meal here!!! Only thing is they r small so early dinners are always better to prevent having to wait to be seated, but, even if you have to wait its worth it!!!!
