I am giving it this rating because their food is delicious its just tht their delivery service really needs some improvement. I have ordered from them a few times in the past year and even though I keep getting bad delivery I keep ordering with hope tht they will improve. Everytime, I get a phone call because the gate to the apartments is closed I tell them to select my name on the box and I will buzz them in. One time in particular the guy was somehow not in his vehicle walking around the outside of the gated property trying to figure out how to get in I instructed him tht he needs to go to the main entrance where he can then get in he argued with me because it was raining and he was getting wet. My thoughts, why are u not in a car?, after him complaining for about a minute he then told me if I would come meet him where he is at to get my food because he just cant find the building, this is while he is confirming the building # tht was on the ticket and tells me he is at the building next to me .. I was thinking Im my head this is unbelievable. I then tell him I am sorry but I paid for delivery and I think u need to bring it to my door I am unable to leave as to why I ordered delivery. He was not happy .. this was the worst experience but the other times werent pleasant either they never seemed to be able to find the apartments even though any other time I order other places no problem .. I never complained till now .. after I tried once more and got my food upside down. Now if I want it I go to the restaurant they are very nice n great food. Delivery needs a ton of work.

Okay not sure how long it has been since my initial review but we were looking up delivery, saw this place and remembered my last experience with them. Kinda crazy how fast they went downhill. Ordered through grubhub. Three hours later still no food. Called repeatedly to no answer after my initial contact with a "manager" who said it was already on the way. Finally the driver calls me and I practically had to stand in the middle of the street and wave him down. The food was spilled all over the inside of the cheap plastic bags including ALL the liquid from the coctel de camaron which soaked into kids burritos, fries and burgers. "FISH LIQUID BURGER KIDS???" Finally got an answer. I told him to send his driver back to pick up the soggy mushy trash so THEY could throw it away and refund my $50+ that I paid. I was told that Grub Hub takes all of the money and too bad. I asked if he was an indentured servant to grubhub - he didnt understand. "So you cook for grubhub with no compensation?" He said, "we make your food, we sent you food, you are done goodbye" and then hung up. Goes without saying. Will never call again, wont recommend. Just no.

The food is okay-edible but nothing amazing and a bit overpriced. But dont expect any kind of service to speak of. Tonight my roommate and I ordered a quesadilla for him, 3 sopes for me, and some chili cheese fries to share (it cost around $30 including the tip and $5 delivery fee). After waiting an hour and 45 minutes, we called to find out where our food was. Apparently, the food had been delivered and accepted at the wrong home. The restaurant was uninterested in rectifying their mistake but luckily Grubhub- the online ordering site- paid to have the order sent back out. About four hours after wed first ordered, the delivery guy finally showed up with some extra sopapillas and no quesadilla for my roommate. In short, the food is alright but not worth waiting a few hours for (if you get it at all).

I used to like eating from here but, I placed an order today and the owner was EXTREMELY rude. He answered the phone speaking english so, logically, I placed my order in english. He then proceeds to speak spanish and when I answer him in spanish he gets upset I didnt speak to him in spanish in the first place! So then, he proceeds to hang up the phone on me. News flash, don t answer in english next time if you dont want to be spoken to in english. You do not keep customers by getting upset with them or by hanging up the phone on them if they are in no way being rude to you. There have been other incidents with him as well that are a few to mention. He is obnoxious and has a serious attitude problem. Hope his business lasts... I sure am not going back.

Well, guess I should have read the reviews prior to ordering, but like the majority - it took over 2 hours for the food to be delivered (because apparently the gentleman who took my order gave the wrong address to the delivery driver- even though I spelled out the name of the street twice)! When the food did arrive - well, lets just say it was a shear disappointment - overpriced for the quality and quantity - I paid $3.99 for two spoonfuls of rice and beans - what a JOKE! The food is mediocre at best and its only being consumed by my boyfriend because he is starving - the poor price he has paid for me taking a night off from the kitchen. Order at your own risk!

Keep in mind Im trying to be positive here....Their customer service on the phone and delivery were awesome!...I CANT get over how bad the food was though. We paid almost $40 for REALLY GOOD (seriously) beef tacos but the WORST ....EVER.... steak tacos and ceviche. The steak in the tacos were more gristle than meat and the ceviche came in a styrofoam cup that was more like a runny cocktail sauce soup. In hindsight youd be better off googling how to make great mexican food than ordering from here. (unless you dont care about how bad your food is and just want top notch customer service)

They gave me food poisoning! I could give this place 0 stars I would. I first try calling after it had been longer than an hour for delivery. They try to tell me that they just went out to deliver it to us. They ended up being an extra 30 minutes later. My horchata was spilled over and dripping out of a plastic nag. The food was cold. the steak fries were nothing but fat, and grease. They also forgot our extra tortillas. The fajitas were bland. The Sopes were under cooked, and I ended up where I currently am..... the emergency room

Waited 2 hours only to have my food delivered to the wrong address. When I called, I was greeted by maybe one of the rudest employees Ive ever had the pleasure of speaking to. "What do you want me to do? We already delivered your food!" is all she could muster. 10 minutes later i get a knock on the door - the delivery driver delivering the food that was originally delivered to the wrong address. The kicker: the food containers had already been opened. I will not be ordering from this establishment again.

I have never ate at EL Costeno, and I never will; heres why: I was almost hit by the delivery driver because he made an illegal turn . After he pulled up next me to flip me off, I called the restaurant to explain the negative representation of business they have driving around town. The man on the phone let me know that unless I was the police, he didnt care and hung up on me. I hope their food is better than their customer service, but I can assure you, I will never know.
