Two weeks ago I went to Great Wall for some Chinese food like I had done numerous times over the past 7 years. However, for some reason I felt compelled to actually check the total cost I was charged against the menu prices, when I got home. It turned out that they actually over-charged me $1 on each of my entrees. I figured it was just an accident, and let it slide. Skip forward to today... I place an order for pick-up on the phone, and when I go to get my food I watch the lady type in the charges on her register. I also checked the prices on the menu, and on their overhead display above the counter to make sure I knew what the correct price was. SAME THING! She overcharged me $1 on BOTH entrees!! WTF?! I also noticed that Great Wall DOES NOT give you an itemized receipt... just a total receipt for the transaction from the register or credit card machine. This is a great way for them to scam you. This is the last time I will ever eat at Great Wall, and I am filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau immediately. EF THIS PLACE!!!!

This restaurant used to be really good!! Ive frequented this spot for 16 years or so. The rice, noodles, meats, etc. were all very tasty and flavorful. The amount they served was always worth the money spent. The last few times Ive visited this year Ive been SOOOO disappointed. Maybe they have a new chef. I dont know. But the quality of food is horrible. The noodles are so soggy and gross. They have no flavor. The fried rice used to be loaded with fried pork bits and veggies. The side of fried rice actually was just as good as the entrée. Not anymore. Yuck!! No flavor and overcooked. I gave this place 2 stars because the only thing thats still ok is there boneless BBQ ribs. Thats it. I dont like any of there other entrees. Its too bad the quality of food is so poor now. It used to be one of the best spots near downtown. If youre looking for decent Chinese cuisine, the spot to check out is Yu Hong Chinese Food on Colfax Ave & Oneida St (Yu Hong is really good!).

Delicious, greasy, and cheap Chinese food. Order takeaway because this place is the definition of a hole in the wall. The kitchen is well maintained and clean, but the couple of dining booths look borderline post-apocalyptic. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning as a heads-up. Food-wise, get an extra order of the crab rangoons for a next level experience. I had the kung pao chicken and it was so flipping good. Excellent spot for a late night meal and the portion sizes are a great value. This is not gourmet dining, so set your expectations apropriately. Great Wall is pretty much a textbook example of Chinese takeout, its been around for years and the people who run it work hard and make good food. Worth a visit if youre youre on the lookout for something quick and tasty.

Called to order food and told the girl answering the phone that I was going to pay cash for my meal and if I didnt have enough I would call and pay over the phone. I said this twice because she didnt understand me and on the second time she cut me off and with sarcasm said "i understand" 1 hour later no food! I called to ask where it was at and she told me she didnt send it because I told id call her back. I reminded her of her response and asked for a manager. She refused to give me a name and began to state "I dont understand english". A second person got on the phone and refused to allow me to speak to anyone. At this point my next step is BBB! Dont eat there the service is horrible and the staff do as they please regardless of the customers request.

I cant believe I havent reviewed Great Wall before now. Ive been ordering take-out and delivering from them for over a year now. Never eat in, seriously, this is the kind of place to take your food home. Delivery is prompt, and theyve always packed my order with great care. Its a family run restaurant and Ive always gotten good service from them. Food is tasty, and the amount you get for the downright cheap price is amazing. I stick to my usuals, their tofu dishes are good, as is anything with the roast pork, tasty eggrolls and crab cheese wontons, great wonton soup. Its exactly what they claim to be, a NY style Chinese food take-out and delivery place. Theyre definitely a Colfax/Cap Hill neighborhood staple and I love having them nearby.

They have such a varied menu. I love that this little hole in the wall has a whole section of healthy options (steamed, sauce on the side). Their chicken wings are to die for...so delicious and no, not on the healthy part of the menu. Their pork fried rice is another favourite. They dont oversteam their veggies. They know what they are doing in the kitchen. Dont use the bathroom, its gross...and if their kids are around (often sitting in booths playing or whatever), they can get really loud. They dont have many seats so this also sometimes complicates the plan to eat in. They also deliver to the Capital Hill neighbourhood, very quick. We call them the Cheap Chinese on Colfax and for what you pay, this is some decent food.

The food is delicious, reasonably priced, fresh, and in large portion. HOWEVER, the service is fair-poor and (while I am an Executive Chef) even to the untrained eye the sanitation is borderline dangerous. This place would never pass a health inspection. Just ordering my take out and waiting in the dining room for a few minutes I saw all of their dry produce stored in mesh bags on the bare floor; cabbage and onions. Several 5 gallon buckets of opened sauce were stored on the bare floor as well as multiple #10 cans of ingredients. You dont have to be a dining professional to know to question these practices. I recommend ordering and turning away. Delicious, delicious unsanitary food.

Rudest customer service!!! Cashew chicken was so bland, even the cashews had no flavor. My husbands sesame chicken was good. I called and asked if I could bring it back (even though we got delivery) and exchange it. The got very upset and starting yelling to the back very angry in their language. Then someone else got on the phone and asked what the hell is wrong with his cashew chicken!!!! I was totally polite but was so intimidated I gave up. I should have trusted my instinct when she was yelling at everyone in the background while taking my order. When I didnt hear the total and asked to repeat it, she yelled it at me! Never ever spend $30 on dinner for two there again!

Horrible service. I gave my credit card over the phone and I asked them what they do with the information afterwards, the lady I spoke with didnt understand what I was talking about. I asked for someone that speaks English. I guy named Jimmy got on the phone and said that: "If you dont like the way we ask for information then go somewhere else". I said: "Are you serious?", he said: "Yes! You are over here asking for someone that speaks English and that if you dont like what we do over here just go somewhere else!". Extremelly rudeeee!!!! I will never order here again. And, I have ordered here quite a few times in the past, Really bad business!
