Whats up with all of the bad reviews, Imperial is probably one of Denvers best Chinese restaurants, if not the best. Even though Imperial serves up Americanized Chinese food, the food is fresh and it makes all of the difference in the world. The hot and sour soup we had (vegetarian version) had well balanced flavors with crisp vegetables and had a decent amount of heat, unlike most Chinese restaurants hot and sour soup just tastes like soy sauce and a little bit of chilli sauce. The sesame chicken tasted excellent, the chicken was crisp, put in just the right amount of sauce, and was very flavorful. The schezuan chicken was the best I have ever had, it had tons of complex flavors that balanced each other well and the sweet and sour chicken was perfectly cooked in a very tasty sauce. The restaurant happily accommodated our request for Vegetable Lo Mein and the noodles were very flavorful with fresh, crisp vegetables. As a treat, make sure you try the Ginger ice cream. The location of the restaurant is very good, its close to downtown, and it has a small parking lot, perfect for those of us who feel uneasy about using metered parking. The restaurant was fairly large and exquisitely decorated. Our server/waiter was very professional and polite, though he seemed to lack warmth and it took a little while to get our drinks. A full meal for four people cost us $75.00 with an 18% tip, so the restaurant isnt cheap, but the quality of food, ambiance, and decent service make it worth the price. Unfortunately, I live in a suburb of Denver, so Imperial is pretty far from me, but we visit the restaurant about 5-8 x a year and we have always enjoyed going there. Highly recommended.

I chose this place because they advertise on a favorite radio station of mine - 850 KOA. I originally made a reservation for 8 of my friends. Soon after I made the reservation, I learned that 2 more people were joining our party. When I called to change the reservation to 10 people, the receptionist made the change without any kind of hassle. The service was really excellent. Vincent was our server and the way he took care of us was wonderful. When one of us finished pouring a bottle of beer into a glass, the bottle would disappear without delay. When a dish was being served, it was done so without being disruptive to the conversation at the table. Everyone in the group was very happy with the food they ordered. My wife and I loved the hot and sour soup. It was very savory and hearty. Loved the atmosphere. So many Chinese restaurants are gaudy and tacky. This place is very classy and the huge aquariums are a very nice touch. I highly recommend this place and I will certainly be going back

Ive been to Imperial a handful of times over the last 15 years. And I will definitely admit that the food has gotten much worse. The service is impeccable. Literally, at one point in the meal I wanted more rice, I just looked up and the extremely friendly and professional waiter ran over. I also left my keys there by accident and after a movie at the Mayan, I went back and they had them there waiting for me. On the other hand, the sesame chicken I got was, well, frankly, disgusting. I couldnt even eat half of it. One thing that does stand out here is the decor - its clearly a nice chinese restaurant. Not a cockroach infested hole-in-the-wall (although I must confess that sometimes those places have the best food). Finally, I would not say that Imperial is overpriced, rather Denverites still live in the early 90s when a meal cost $7. My sesame chicken was $12. Compare this to any other major city and that isnt even remotely expensive. Overall, my suggestion is to avoid it.

This is a fancy place. Know where youre eating before you go there. Wonderful for a date. Great for a family. Excellent for a group outing. Dress up, but they wont throw yo out if you wear denim. Enjoy the atmosphere and the calm setting. Expect Chinese food at its best. I advise you to have some tea to go with your meal. Savor every bite and youll still be likely to end up with some left overs (for how long though, depends on how long you can resist the smell in your car!). The service is warm and professional. They want to serve you the best food they can, and they will. Know that you are eating at one of (if not the) best Chinese restaurants in Denver though. You are paying to receive a quality meal. In my opinion, you are NOT overpaying in any way after the full experience.

Took my in-laws here tonight and was pleased as always. Definitely a bit pricey, but pretty worth it, in my opinion. I do think this is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Denver. Service was excellent. They are professional, just not super friendly and talkative. Our water glasses never fell below halfway and empty plates were cleared away very very quickly. As others have said, they do not give much rice, but in my opinion, rice is kind of a filler side dish, so I usually dont eat much rice anyway because Id rather eat the entrees. I do not like their egg rolls though.

This place is horrible, service was rude, prices are high...ordered crab cheese wontons but should have been called onion and cheese wontons also ordered the fried rice with shrimp but the rice wasnt fried and there were only 6 peas and 2 kinds of onions for veggies in rice...they over charge and use cheap crappy onions for big flavor at low cost....politely asked if the fried rice could be switched for plain white rice due to all the onions and was told there was nothing they could do. Not Authentic avoid this location

Sticker shock replaced by regret. After reviewing the menu, and having never been there before, I went to my stand-by order Kung Pao Chicken. There was no sauce, it was almost literally covered with dry, cold peanuts, and the chicken was a little hard to find. My drink was served in a childrens glass and I was not offered a re-fill until I was finished with my meal. We saw our waitress four times total. Yeah, it was a Wednesday night at 8:30 but from the prices on the menu I had high expectations.

I have eaten here a few times. The first time I had their sesame chicken, it was mediocre at best. The fried rice tasted like something you could have made with a rice mix at home. The last time I went I got the Hunan beef. I literally got 5 pieces of beef and had two pieces of steamed broccoli. I love Chinese food and go to many different restaurants, but I will not be returning to Imperial. Save your money and make a frozen Chinese mix at home.
