We had out of state company and so called at 1pm for reservations for 10 at 6:30. We arrived and were informed that they had set a table for only 8 and that it would be 5 minutes. 35 minutes later we were told that it would be 2 more minutes, that they now had the table set. We waited 10 more minutes to be seated. We were escorted to the farthest corner of the restaurant next to the outdoor patio where a table had been set for 10, and was blocking the back exit from the kitchen. Once seated our drink orders were taken , the water and tea were delivered promptly, minus one water. The drinks, Margueritas, common at a Mexican bar took 20 minutes before arriving, one member of our party ordered a second and it took 40 minutes to arrive giving them about 10 minutes to consume it as everyone was finished with their meal. The frozen Margueritas had large chunks of ice in them, making it hard ti drink through a straw, and leaving large chunks of ice in the bottom of the glass whe finished, not a good frozen Marguerita to my tastes. The second Margueritas was ordered by the only family member who order the Margueritas on the rocks. It took 45 minutes for food to arriveat the table, after our order was taken. It was a good thing the waitress was skinny as she had to slide down the table to serve the hot plates. I only cringed when she had to reach across the table to serve my 2-yr old grandson, and again when she reached over my 88 yr old mother. Although the food was good, I wouldnt say it was in the top 10 Mexican restaurants Id eaten at and the overall experience did not leave me wanting to come back. Being with family was the saving grace for this experience.

Honestly, my mind is blown by the 4.5 rating for this restaurant. When we visited this establishment we started with the $10 queso dip. It came out extremely thick with a layer of oil on the top. The oil and the cheese would not combine not matter how much it was stirred. (Stirred with a spoon, even breaking the surface of the cheese with a chip was impossible....seriously, it was that thick.) When we asked the manager about it he said, "his supplier had changed the canned product they usually sent and that theyd been getting a lot of complaints." He did take it off our tab but I was shocked that it was served like that....period....it was truly awful and for $10, mind-bogglingly bad. When my husband came back from the bathroom he was greeted by a roach crawling around in his booth. Then the food was brought out, and it was definitely sub-par. Neither of us came close to finishing or bothered to keep the leftovers. It was just not a good experience at all. Im rarely upset with a Mexican restaurant, but this was so far from enjoyable I couldnt believe its 4.5 star rating. Edit: After reading the other reviews I think Ive figured out the mystery behind the 4.5 stars. Most of the reviews for this restaurant are several years old. Apparently times have changed for Carlos Miguels.

Noticed this restaurant was close to where we were and after reviews decided to try for ourselves. We arrived around 7:15pm and went to the hostess she just looked at us. We told her party of 2, said 15 minute wait without taking our name. Awkward. Other patrons thought so as well. We were seated within 5 minutes and was brought out chips, salsa and bean dip. Chip are pre-salted, so beware; bean dip was good, salsa was liquidity with too many onions. Took awhile for our waitress to come and get our drink order but when she did we already decided on our menu. Wife order Santa Fe burrito, she wasnt impressed and she is from NM. I order combination dinner crispy beef taco and cheese enchilada with ranchero beans. Not impressed at all but when your hungry you will eat. Charro beans was just whole beans that had a weird taste as if spoiled. My cheese enchilada wasnt good and cheese inside wasnt melted/cooked. Crispy taco shell was good and meat had good flavor but overall disappointing. I couldnt in fair judgment recommend this restaurant. You can probably get better eats at a fast food chain.

This place, the location in SW Colorado Springs on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd., has really gone down hill. They used to have good food maybe 5 years ago, but now it is very ordinary and even bad at times. I have always ordered Chicken Mole enchiladas (have eaten there many times), but on my most recent visit, the mole sauce was horrible, uneatable as it was very strong and super spicy with cloves, etc. I sent my dish back, then the manager wanted to come out and challenge me, implying there was nothing wrong with the sauce, it is the same canned sauce they always use. I ordered something else, much less expensive, but they did not take the original item off of our check and charge us for the substitution. Knowing we would not be back, we just paid the bill and left. We have never eaten at any of the other locations, so I do not know how they are, but stay away from the location on Cheyenne Mtn. Blvd.

The food is amazing. Our waiter was amazing. The reason I am giving two stars is because of the manager (Im assuming he was a manager). We walked in at 9:30pm Friday evening, the hostess was very sweet to us and asked how many were in our party. The manager came up and without saying "hi" or "welcome" or anything kind, said "we close in thirty minutes". Our group of four ate dinner and then at 10:30pm the manager AGAIN came over and said "we closed thirty minutes ago". Seriously? What kind of business are you running rushing your customers like that? We were courteous grateful customers who tipped very graciously. Again, the rest of the staff was fantastic but the manager was rude and ungrateful. You need to treat your paying customers better. I dont think we will be back again solely because of him.

The food is terrific and the staff is friendly. The salsa is hotter than the Carlos up in Frisco... I like it that way. And my husband practically licks the bowl of bean dip before hell allow the server to take it away. My fav is Pollo Asado and my husband loves the Arroz con Pollo. Tiny place, so get there before 5:30 to avoid waiting. One time we went, the server who delivers the chips and salsa was kind of lurking in the corner with a trayful of warm chips and salsa, just waiting to pounce on the next people who walked in. Now thats service!
