Ive been here many many times and the food is always good, its diner food so its not fantastic but its always flavorful and the waitstaff is always great, except today. Today we went in and had to ask multiple times for simple things like straws, cutlery, refills, even portions of our food that were not brought out by our own waiter, we had to stop another waiter and ask her if she could check on it and get us refills as we had drank all ours during the long wait for our food when 4 other tables were serve their food although we were seated first. The lovely waitress, I cant quite recall but its something like mystique, brought our food and gave our refills, cutlery and such. Our waitress came back once and we asked for the other portion of my sisters meal that was missing and we didnt see her until we were leaving. We left a tip for the other waitress who went out of her way to serve us although we were not her table but not one for the waitress who was more interested in sitting behind the counter on her phone talking to the other waitresses.

Ive been there once, and wont go back. The service wasnt good due our waitress not being around at all. But most importantly, the food wasnt good. We both ordered breakfast items and the food was served extremely quickly... almost too quickly honestly. Their Sonoma Sausage was gross and rubbery and their biscuits were sad compared to Black Bear Diner. Their portions were pretty small, and nothing was good. The food here is just filler... something to eat to avoid hunger, and not something to eat to enjoy. I would argue that Dennys has a much better breakfast selection (and taste), and thats kind of pathetic if you think about it. All-in-all, if you are looking for GOOD food from a diner, try Black Bear Diner on Merchant Street. Portions are huge and the food is excellent.

Ate there tonight. I had a craving for mashed potatoes and gravy. I asked the waitress whether the potatoes were fresh not instant. Yes, so I happily ordered them with a dinner. The salad was fine. What was the name given to the truck stop in Smoky and the Bandit? I think it was "the puke and gag". Well, that is what the potatoes were like. They must have been on a steam table for three days. The gravy was too salty and instant. The vegetables were frozen, to be expected, except, they too tasted old. The cod was 50% breading, and after peeling the breading away was tasteless. My recommendation, stay away from the dinners. Stick with the burger, fries, and milkshake.

I took a recent trip to Vacaville, to be close to Six Flags. I spent the day in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and I got back to my hotel late on a Sunday night. I didnt feel like fast food and there wasnt any restaurants open on a Sunday at 11 p.m., except Mels which is 24 hours. My family and I went in to get a to go order because we were in PJs, and we didnt want to sit down somewhere. The service was fast and the food was great. We loved their burgers and their milkshake was to die for. I would recommend their food to anyone and everyone. It was fantastic.

This is the first time in a restaurant Ive been told I cannot order when i asked to! 10 mins after getting seated the waitress came for drink orders. We ordered drinks and I stated we were ready to order, and she replied that she cannot now and she will come back. Another 15 min later she comes back with drinks and to take food orders. Total 25 mins before we can order and we were ready in 5. She said they are short staffed, and I want to be understanding of that, but the service I got left me feeling like it was putting a burden on them to serve us.

This place is fantastic. Everytime we walk in the door, we know what we are going to get: great service and great food. (Their sundae is heavenly!!) My fiance and I just moved to Vacaville a little over a year ago and we are just getting out and trying different restaurants and this is the one that we frequent the most. The food is down home country cooking and I recommend anyone that loves getting more than what they pay for to try Mels for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Mels is "just alright" unless you are wanting food in the middle of the night, then it shifts right to awesome because it is the only thing still open that isnt a Dennys. About half a block from the Tesla Supercharger station, this is a nice place to meet up with out of town electric car driving friends as well. Decent, generally cheap eats, and the prime rib is great when it is the special!

Awesome food and shakes! Im not usually a fan of Chocolate shakes, but theirs is a deserving exception! It is a freaking amazing delight and I highly recommend it to an chocolate heads out there. Their food is also really surprisingly tasty and upscale for a 24 hr hamburger joint. I highly recommend their Philly Cheesesteaks, French Dip, Hangover special, and of course their cheeseburgers.

Ive been a customer since they took this location over from Boston Market... A lot of staff changes over the years, food AND service is hit or miss at various times, but theyve held it together (duct tape and rope mind you, but its held). They are short staffed a lot these days, but be patient with the wait staff, theyll take care of you the best they can most times.

Very rude service, the person who seated asked if we wanted something drink and my sister said a milk shake. She said only water?! They had a lot of empty tables but was seated 10 mins later after we just got there. Waited an extra 15 mins for someone come but no one didnt, so we left. Never going back

Cooks are slow this time of day came out slow some food cold some hot. Going to try it again the next day only earlier see if the cooks are any better. The Sausage links seems like they were cooked in some kind of oil and a little to long my over easy eggs were over medium instead.

Ive been to the Mels in Tracy and give that I had a good experience there I went to the one in Vacaville. Not the same, the food was awful. The sampler appetizer was all burned. Ppl were friendly but the food was fast food like quality. Better off going to jack in the box

Very disappointed. ..I only wanted potatoes and eggs. I was insulted with a plate of scorched potatoes...awful burned flavor. I asked for unburned potatoes and got a new plate of absolutely tasteless potatoes. I paid $10. for an absolutely tasteless breakfast.

My wings were cold and they wanted me to find out which ones. So they could only replace the cold ones. And then the manager, Fernando didnt even say a thing to us as he left us the receipt. Find somewhere else to eat that cares about food and customers.

Theres nothing special about Mels. The food is low quality sysco based fried junk. Everything is swimming in grease and mayonnaise. I put it on par with Dennys, but at least Dennys has some half-decent breakfasts.
