This is my 4th BBD. As always, it is amazing. Really sad that their amazing mac and cheese is no longer offered as a side. What. The. Heck. bring it back!!! I had fish n chips, and my family had different kids meals, a burger, tri tip, and chicken. plus we had a cobbler for desert. Everyone loved their food. The kids loved their sundaes. Side salads are just that--a side portion, not the sample-size you get at most restaurants. While their prices are a bit more than I usually spend, their portions are generous. Jordan was our server, and that gal deserves an award. While drinks were not always immediately refilled, we were taken care of quickly--quite a feat when there are 4 kids at the table. She made sure we had plenty of that amazing ranch for our fries, and gave the kids balloons when we left. She was taking over at least one other persons work, so the wait for drinks and leftovers boxes was totally understandable, and still better than most full-staffed restaurants. I wish I lived in a town with a BBD, but Im so glad I saw this one when we were at Safeway.

My first time popping through this spot for brunch. Many thanks to Jerri for providing exceptional service. She had 4 different booths yet she never skipped a beat in providing top quality service. I got the cinnamon rolls French toast, a side of eggs scrambled hard with tomato and onion, and sausage links. Everything here is homemade so its like eating at moms. It will ruin it if ever try to go to IHOP or Dennys or some other inferior chain. My girl got the harvest grain pancakes with bacon mixed. Loved the assortment of hot sauces present at the table which allowed me to spice up my eggs even more to my liking. The booths are huge and can fit 6 to 8 depending on your size. The helping was a solid size but not overwhelming. The desserts in the front showcase looked decadent but Ill try them next time. Really comfortable atmosphere perfect for a family or brunch date. Noise level was lively but calm enough to maintain private conversations and not feel like you were at the table next to you. I would highly recommend.

At 8:30pm there was no one at the front to greet my family and myself. After 5 minutes we decided to seat ourselves in the nearly empty restaurant. After several minutes, finally found a busboy to get us the menus. The waiter was decent, if a bit pushy, and we ordered our drinks. When they had not arrived in 10 minutes and the waiter had not returned, we decided to leave (right as the drinks came out). The manager was at the front door as we left and didnt offer a word of apology for the poor service. Will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN when I can get better service from McDonalds!!!

Diner americano auténtico con música country y un gran variedad de platos. Perfecto para una parada de tránsito en coche. Buenas porciones, buen precio, y buen sabor. No sé que más pedir. Bueno, para vino no es el lugar pero nadie es perfecto. Recomiendo el meatloaf de la casa.

We dropped in for lunch after a day on the beach. The server was fantastic and great with our kids. We ordered burgers and a salad and our kids had choices from the childrens menu. The prices were very good for the quality and amount of food. The kids meals came with a sundae where the server brought out the icecream, gummy bears, chocolate chips, m&ms etc. The kids had a great time ordering their custom sundaes. We would definitely go here again if we end up in Monterey again.

I went 3 times with my co worker an once with my girlfriend and all 4 times i ordered the same thing, the New York Steak and Eggs. I love steak an ordered it medium but when i received it it was cooked well done. So i told them i wanted a New one. They gave it to me but all four times they give me messed up steak and now i HAVE to say something publicly. Seaside California Black Bear Dinner is strictly the worst place to go for Breakfast steak

You experience at Black Bear is really dependant on who is working. You know what to expect for the food (general diner menu) and the environment is cute but if you get a bad waiter or waitress it gets hard to give a high rating. Unfortunately, thar scenerio plays out a little more often than it should. So of you want a good, quick bite and you arent as concerned over being ignored, this is a good place to stop.

Black bear has wonderful service. When I eat there it is usually for a special occasion or with a special friend. The staff is like family and so hospitable. I can never finish my food and am always taking at least half of the delicious food home. There are a variety of choices and the price matches the portions. I love Black Bear Diner!! Especially breakfast! One of my favorite restaurants!

the menu is printed on old newspaper clippings, which is adorable, and they make their own whipped cream, which is DELICIOUS. i love their enormous waffles? and the waitstaff know my face so they give me TWO servings of syrup when i come in because they know me... i bring all my friends here for late weekend breakfasts. very homey and cute and tasty. my friend also really liked their eggs benedict!

We frequent this diner often. The atmosphere is open and light. The food is full of flavor with large portions. If youre a big eater, this is the place to go. The prices are fair, and the staff is very friendly. Keep in mind, this is a diner chain. The food is diner food, so dont go here looking for diet options. They exist, but whats the point? Bonus: they offer a military discount.

Grissle, burnt hash browns, under cooked eggs, sticky filthy tables. I used two paper place mats to keep my arms from sticking to the table. Need I say more. All I want is a clean table and a good meal service can suck if I get what I pay for. Service was OK she came back 20 minutes after service to "drop" off my check "just dropping off your check do you need a box?"

They say the kitchen closes at 11P, so we called at 10:30P and it sounded like they were shuttering the place, tho’ the receptionist did take our take out order. Very large portions, so value priced. for sure. Unfortunately the baked potato we got as a side had a rotten/green area once we cut it open, rendering it inedible. Ribs were very good, and nice side salad.

Been here multiple times. Tonight I was sat and served drinks in 4 minutes, and then ignored by the server for a half hour. Didnt get to place an order for the meal, decided to hit the Dennys down the road. Food is meh. I would recommend the Monterey Cookhouse over this spot for dinner. And Breakfast club for breakfast/a burger.

For my first time being at a Black Bear Diner, I have to say the food is delicious, the presentation is a big plus too. The plain bacon cheeseburger with fries and cream potato soup is a delightful choice. The restaurant is kept clean with the bathrooms, and there is more than enough parking here.
