I took a guest to this restaurant recently and was greatly disappointed. Im a summer resident of this area and I LOVE Trinidad. Go there for the spectacular views, cliff side walks and visit the restaurants, JUST NOT THIS ONE. Nearly every house and most restaurants in Trinidad have beautiful views, Trinidad Bay Eatery & Gallery is NOT one of them. Tho their website show lovely views of the bay, all views from the restaurant are of the parking lot. Food was mediocre and vastly over-priced. Wine pretty much the same. They have no wine list, waitress brings bottles over to your table and tells you about them (except the prices, THAT youre forced to ask about). The decor/design of this restaurant is that of a low rent diner rather than an upscale restaurant. Go to Trinidad, Enjoy its beauty, GO TO A RESTAURANT WITH A VIEW. The food will be better with prices more appropriate to the experience. By the way, as of today, this restaurants website lists old prices or does not include the more expensive items we saw on the current menu.

I eat here regularly, or did. The food has always been really good. Ive only had one sub par experience. The service is usually decent. Ive never had any complaints. Then today I looked at the reviews here and I am pretty disturbed by the responses made to poor reviews. Ive been in customer service for almost 40 years. I have trained wait staff and worked in the restaurant industry for 35 of those years. The individual who responded to these reviews is arrogant and I am certain difficult at best. Typical Humboldt. Its everywhere here. Still, I imagine this little place will continue to thrive as it is crazy difficult for tourists to escape the drug culture and find a normal place to do just about anything here. Wish that werent the case. Clearly this Dude/Dudette is a jerk! Nonetheless, Ive been meaning to check out some of the other places in town so they have lost at least two customers today.

Like other reviews below, great food not so good service. I checked in for dinner July 3rd at around 7pm. I asked for a place at the empty bar since I was by myself and didnt want to occupy a table. I was told they didnt serve dinner at the bar. I waited until 8pm. Several groups after me were offered tables. They then offered to sit me at the bar! I told the girl, thats what I asked about an hour ago. Her reply, "we couldnt offer you a place at the bar because there were other parties ahead of you" what?!! The waiter that helped me at the bar was visibly upset that I was there. No utensils. I had to ask for a napkin. Really, the help was a disaster. Unfortunate for the owner specially if he is the cook because the food was great. Maybe Trinidad is getting a little jaded about tourists.

The Eatery We drive from Redding to Trinidad just to have lunch at The Eatery. The drive is beautiful and when you get to 101 crest the hill and see the ocean, its all good. A couple of miles up the road is Trinidad & The Eatery, the service is excellent & the food is fresh cooked to perfection. You might say youre crazy for drive that far but I would tell you that The Eatery would be a welcome experience. Excellent service your coffee is always full that alone is saying something. Your not treated like catle eat and get out. No, you are a part of a personal dinning experience like no other. You dont have to believe me, experience The Eatery for your self you will be pleasantly surprised. Lunch in Trinidad see you there. We will be back, till than Ride safe & Drive safe. 5.0

Has changed ownership since last visit. Had fish and chips, fish was terrible, way too much batter. Fries were greasy and wilty. Bowl of chowder was literally a cup of chowder put in a bowl with some toast and they charged almost double, never once did our waitress check on us, had to wait an extra 5 min. for them to bring our grandson his cup of chowder after they served us our so called bowl of chowder, said they ran out. So..in a nut shell....we ordered 2 fish and chips and 2 bowls of chowder and 1 cup of chowder and a kids meal fish and chips with 2 soft drinks. Cost us 78.00..overpriced??? Huh..YEAH!!! NO RETURN TRIP FOR US BEINGS WE DROVE 3 HOURS FOR OUR FAVORITE FISH PLACE ON THE COAST. Long John Silvers gotcha beat T.B.E.

My kids were refused service here because the cook was "concerned about legal liability", as the waiter explained after we politely inquired about peanuts in the food. (I am not a litigious person, but am now pondering whether to take legal action for discrimination.) Then, amazingly, the server seemed surprised that my wife and I didnt want to dine there while our hungry kids sat and watched us eat. What planet do these people come from? If you want food prepared by a lawyer wannabe (if you pass legal muster with the cook, that is), this is your place.

We stopped here for dinner after viewing the harbor from the end of the street. I had the Herb Chicken Breast and my companion had the Crab Louie. The presentation was excellent, as was the dining experience. The pricing was on the high side but not terribly excessive. Service was excellent. All-in-all, a pleasant stop on our trip. BTW, they _do_ have a wine list now. (I think the "Category" on this one should more properly be "Restaurant" rather than "Gift Shop", although it contains both).

I ate here a couple weeks ago while at the marathon. Good food, we never had to wait for a table. I had the clam chowder bread bowl, it was very good, on par with what I have gotten in Monterey or SF. The gift shop was nice, but over priced. The coffees in the gift shop are EXPENSIVE, but you dont know until you go to pay, and they are very slow. We ordered 3 coffee drinks, it took almost 20 minutes to get all 3 and was almost $20, we ended up missing the sunset at the beach down the street.

We came in to have a clam chowder bread bowl for lunch.. Which was delicious. Although I was very upset to see the manager/owner non professionally and rudely repremanding his employees in front of customers 3 times in the 30 minutes we were sitting there. To have a well functioning restaurant you must work as team and encourage with positivity. Costumers dont want to see employees being put down. I felt really bad for those employees because they were doing such a great job.

Had an enjoyable meal after exploring Redwood National Park not too far away. The prices were a little higher than I would expect, but the food was surprisingly good for being in such a small town. The service was friendly, offered great suggestions, and encouraged us to take our time even though were were in the restaurant near closing time. There is also an attached gift shop that seems a little out of place, plus a taffy sales area near the exit.

If youre in the area and need to grab some breakfast, Trinidad Eatery is the place to go!! Extremely friendly staff, great service and delicious food. I had their signature dish, the breakfast quesadilla. If youre extremely hungry, try to take down their breakfast quesadilla!! It is well worth it, hand made in house! It is also very filling. Youve also probably read about their blackberry cobbler. Its a good one!
