Ive been to Beck several times, as well as other good local restaurants (Aprils, Saffron Salmon, Side Door Café, Bay House, etc.) and this is my favorite of them all. The food is always top notch (one reviewer said it was too salty but thats not atypical for restaurants, even the best ones) and prices are good for what you get. The view is great here as well - one evening last year we even saw a whale from the dining room - and the ambiance is great in general. We also appreciate the great service weve received there - its better than the other places Ive mentioned as well. But no restaurant is perfect - the wine list could be bigger, the menu could vary more than what Ive seen - but again, this is not atypical for restaurants because they generally are production environments in order to be efficient/cost efficient.

Dining experience was one of the worst ever for two of us. Entrees were tasteless...lukewarm highly salted broth poured over the 3" square ling cod. Tuna was partially cooked (usual for restuarants) and raw in the middle...but cold. First serving of spagetti... bowl-formed. Again lukewarm. This had a semi raw egg on it. Spouses soup was another carafe of smoked lukewarm smokey liquid over unknown sprouts of some sort----bah. Food looked disgusting and was. Very high priced for everything. Flies buzzing all around and the chatty-kathy waitress was killing them on the windows and swiping them away from our plates. Three couples moved away from the windows because of this. Took two hours to get two small servings for the both of us. Its no wonder that Tidal Raves restaurant is so busy in Depoe Bay.

I have been here twice and have not been impressed. Service was very slow and the wait staff are not attentive. The front of house manager could have done more to make up for the wait time on each course, such as refill our water glasses. The fennel soup was blistering hot but at least flavorful, unlike the pistou garnish which was tasteless. The wagyu beef was not wagyu beef and disappointing that their definition of medium rare is blue with a cold center. The albacore tuna needs salt and the compressed yolk was a gimick and did not provide the richness that I think the chef intended. The porkbelly was well cooked but the cheddar ice cream tasted only of cream and needed more pickles to add much needed acid to that dish. His casual pasta restaurant in Newport is better

My wife and I have eaten here twice and enjoyed both experiences. Food was excellent and wine choices were enjoyed. Service was prompt and polite. Some reviews have been very negative, which is hard to believe given our experiences. However, owning a restaurant myself, individual staff can be problematic. Any complaints might get best results if stated in person to the chef and also in written form to the restaurant and the Little Whale Cove Inn as well. I always appreciate hearing from customers who had a less than positive experience so that I can correct the situation as soon as possible. Of course I am very responsive to customers and immediately seek to find a way to satisfy the customer.

A really sublime eating experience. Had the 5 course tasting with no red meat or chicken. The cold watermelon soup with ricotta, cucumber granita, lime, and nasturtium leaves was a particular standout as was the albacore tuna and tomatoes and the chocolate dessert. Everything was absolutely top-notch and the wine list, although relatively small, was extremely well-chosen and well-priced. This is a Michelin star level eating experience, and when you add in the incredible view (we watched the sun set over the Oregon coast from our table), the service, and the reasonable price a rare gem. Like Oleana in Boston punching way, way above its weight. Thank you!

My husband lost his job after 25 years, and rather than make it a negative experience I wanted to do something very special for him to celebrate the sacrifices he made to support his family and his dedication and hard work for so many years to that company. We decided to experience letting the chef prepare what he wanted to for us. It was the most delicious, special meal that we have ever had. The view was amazing and the service was warm and personal. This will be a very special memory for us for the rest of our lives. We hope to go back for our 36th anniversary this year.

Sounds cliché but this was a culinary adventure. Had a five course chefs choice tasting menu with a wine pairing and it was unlike anything Ive ever experienced. Each dish was so perfectly prepared with very specific elements and when combined yields an meld of flavors thats so pleasing I cant explain it. The most melt in your mouth pork belly and leeks with miso ice cream I think it was...wow...just wow. Chef Justin is highly talented and he and his crew impressed me. The best meal Ive ever had.

Too many too rich courses in tasting menu. Example - pork belly followed by foie gras. Over salted. No balance between courses, I feel like chef doesnt get subtle. Over cooked a really nice piece of halibut. Service was pleasant but inept, our server had difficulty describing the courses and knew little about wine. Someone's sweater fell on the floor and servers actually stepped over it rather than pick it up. There 90 minutes, only two courses served. Very sad, very disappointed.

My wife and I had reservations here to celebrate our anniversary. We made them six weeks in advance. When we arrived, they made us wait an hour and a half. I spoke with a co-owner, a woman, who was quite rude and not very sympathetic. The food is overpriced. I would not go back after that experience. The waitress was friendly. Otherwise I would give it one star.

I cant understand the negative reviews of this establishment. They dont make any sense at all unless they were written by people with personal grudges or looking for vengeance because they didnt like paying for quality dining. The food is amazing. The service was really great. The view is to die for. You must try the tasting menu with pairing!!!

The food took forever to reach our table. We were there 2.5 hours! Wine by the half glass 12.00. Larger servings would loosen up the customers.... Just a thought! Great flavors in unusual combinations. The atmosphere seems sterile and could easily overhear all conversations. Too much time between courses. We found ourselves twiddling thumbs.

What a great dinner! I cant say enough about the creative combinations of flavors and textures. Each item on the menu was surprising and so delicious. Oh, and lets not forget the fabulous view! This was am evening to remember.

Interesting food. Good wine menu. Food not served sufficiently warm. Beef cannot be considered Wagyu, as described. I guess they are generally better than this. A little disappointing. I would give them one more chance.

There was a time all you could find at the beach worth eating was clam chowder and fish n chips. That time is over. With places like this the coast may just become a culinary destination.

One of the best meals Ive had anywhere. Fresh, local... The food is truly a work of art. You have to try the chefs tasting menu: always a surprise, always changing. Fantastic!
