My husband and I used to go here once in a month or so, generally on a late Saturday afternoon. The food is fairly average - and I did think their crab cakes were fairly decent. The service by the manager at Firehouse Grill and Brewery at Murphys Street in Sunnyvale is deplorable. I am writing on this forum because of my recent experience here. Around a month ago, we ordered a large portion of a plate of food. Almost a half hour later, they served us the small. The waiter promised to bring in the additional quantity. After an even longer wait, we werent given anything extra and the owner (manager) of the restaurant (a middle aged woman) looked irritable but settled the bill accordingly. The waiters here are very average but slightly slow. We complained to the owner that we were waiting for a long time and should have received the food. We also did not leave a tip. I was never rude to her directly, but she overheard me telling my husband that we should not come back. We went back earlier this week and the same waitress was happy to see us back. When the manager saw us, she said I was "abusive" and refused to serve me in the restaurant. Apparently "criticism" of service is abusive although I did not say anything directly to her. She pointed to the sign saying she could refuse service to anyone. My husband actually tried to make peace of the situation, but she was adamant of serving us and watched until we left the restaurant. She seems to be intolerant of criticism and seemed as though she was literally dying to throw me out. The manager should spend less time worrying about the shortcomings of the customers and spend more time improving the quality of service. If you guys are looking for a late-afternoon or late-night snack or just a pint of beer at Murphys Street like Firehouse, Lilly Macs down the same street is much better. Not writing this as I am upset with the owner at Firehouse, but the food and service is in much better standard at Lilly Macs compared to Firehouse Grill and House for literally the same price. We usually arrive just before 10 PM when their last dinner orders are placed at Lilly Macs. Much livelier place, they replace your drinks immediately after they are over, the quantity here is larger and the appetizers and traditional Irish food (fish and chips or the Irish stew) at Lilly Macs is exceptional. Please be careful if you would like to go to Firehouse Grill and Brewery. Please otherwise ensure you are very nice and do not complain - particularly to the owner at the restaurant - lest you be refused entry into the restaurant.

Hmmm... Do they deliver? I dont even think I would order delivery. I went out with a large party and has the salmon asparagus past with Lemon sauce. It was absolutely wonderful. I also had a Mai Tai to drink that was good. I have no complaints on taste. The people however are a different story. Instead of getting charged for just my order (which was the receipt they brought me) I was charged for the entire group I was with, then charged a second time for my own meal. I knew something was wrong when they didnt come back to the table with my card for an hour! They never told me there was any problem, but once my card was declined the next day, I knew something was wrong. When I called management was friendly, but unhelpful. they told me that the charge would be reversed and to just wait. So I waited the 5 days it took for that to come off of my account, all the while unable to buy myself anything from gas to groceries. The food is great, but they need to communicate if there is a problem and take care of what they cause if they cause problems. Because they didnt even tell us what had happened and charged us twice, my husband has sworn he will never go back, even though the food was good. Oh, and just as a side note because it doesnt matter as much to me, the people who hang out there are all wannabe preppy losers. Well, not all of them, but the crowd was "up tight," for lack of better terms.

First of all any grill/bar that is showing hockey as its primary sporting event on a given night is OK in my book. i also liked the Murphy Square area. I had never been there, but it is a cool little area. This is another place that makes its own brew. I had the Hall and Oatmeal Stout (bonus points for Hall and Oates reference). The bartender was very friendly and went through all their beers, even providing some samples. i ordered the NY steak, which is probably a mistake in a place like this. It was average at best. I should seriously do myself a favor and stay away from steak unless I am at a traditional steakhouse. I am usually disappointed otherwise. Other menu items looked pretty good, including the variety of pizzas on the menu, so those are probably worth trying. This looks like it would be a pretty good sports bar to watch whatever game youre into. They had a variety of sports up, but as I mentioned the feature was the Sharks v. Red Wings game.

Went during happy hour. Food was fine - nothing special, but certainly not bad at all. Atmosphere was good too, though I am still confused on what exactly the "theme" of this place is (sports bar? "fire house"? hooters-wanna-be?). The Guinness I had was completely flat and not fresh, so I agree with the other reviewers on point about bad beers. The servers are what can only be described as scantly clad (per the earlier Hooters reference), so at least the guys can be happy about that. Decent overall, but hey, it is "downtown" Sunnyvale after all, so dont set your bar too high.

Other reviewers have hit the nail on the head then they arent quite sure what the theme of the restaurant is (sports bar? firehouse? brewery? Scottish hooters?). Service is usually good but the food is a bit inconsistent. Our first dinner there was great, having the nachos and pulled pork sandwich. On our second visit, the calamari was rubbery and the chicken fingers were very dry (prob reheated in the deep fryer a few times). The Philly cheese steak was decent though. The garlic french fries are probably the best/most consistent item on the menu.

The GM Leticia Jensen is a disgrace to the industry. We dined at the establishment on an event day outside and were very upset with the Suprise" 18% added gratuity on our bill. When we arrived Leticia seated us and was very rude, not a good first impression, she also was on a personal cell phone call for at least 45 minutes. She still has not compensated us for her bad attitude, bad service, and the added gratuity.................. We will NEVER go back and advise everybody to go elsewhere in Sunnyvale.

Absolutely awful! The service wasnt just bad, the bartender was flat out rude to both us and other couples seated at the bar. We were there in a Saturday night and it seemed like she was bitter about having to be there. She was throwing items around, ignoring customers and being incredibly short. The manager ended up taking our order, and she was much happier, but it didnt make up for the poor service from the staff. The food was just average as well. Nothing to pull me back again.
