I am teetotaler. My review is all about the appetizers here and not the beer. So if you are looking for a beer review, skip this one. And there are many reasons for this post. 1. Beer Garden offers food, albeit with a small menu. 2. Chances are, even if you are there for the beer, you are hoping to snack some. 3. Finally, and most importantly for me, this is really about the unsung hero, the designated driver, who needs to eat something decent while the rest of the group atleast has beer to turn to. We were a group of people on a weekday at Beer Garden. Having braved the 101 traffic, we made our way to the place which is easy to spot on Mathilda Avenue. I was famished and decided to order a bunch of appetizers from their menu. I chose onion rings and falafel as the two appetizers for our table. To give company to my friends, I wanted to order a non-alcoholic beverage from the menu. Unfortunately, there was really nothing much to choose from beyond the usual colas, Sprite and the odd pineapple juice. I went with the pineapple juice. The onion rings and falafel arrived soon enough. The quantity variance between the two dishes was stark. While there was a big pile of oily onion rings on the plate, there were 4 falafel patties. I definitely wished that the portion sizes were inverted between the two. Anyways, the falafel was reasonably tasty but the amount of oil on the onion rings was well beyond expected. Yes, I know onion rings are essentially battered onions deep fried in oil. But I have seen versions with much less oil than this. As everyone in the group arrived, I added one more appetizer to the table in the form of vegetarian quesadilla. The veggie quesadilla was good not great and the main reason again was the amount of oil. It was hard to ignore. The oil in the rings and the quesadilla was so much, I had to skip eating my meal. I needed a Sprite to cleanse my palate. Overall, from what I gathered from my friends, the beer was very good and there were many choices on tap. But the vegetarian food was less than desirable to me. I wish I had better choices made with lesser amount of oil.

I had been deeply anticipating my first visit here, and I finally got the chance to make it over to the new beer garden in the neighborhood. Obsessed. Im SO happy that a place like this exists and that I live within walking distance of it. Let me break it down now: Food - I didnt even know that food under $5 existed in california. They have this menu item, sausage on a bun for $4.95. You would think that a tiny plate with something inedible would come out as a result, but BAM you get this enormous plate with fries or onion rings and a deliciously authentic sausage on a bun! Needless to say, I was impressed. Drinks - I got to try a few of their beers and fell in love with the Asam bach. Om nom nom. They had a great selection, and if beer isnt your thing, they have cocktails too. This place literally has something for everyone. Im excited to make a return visit here and I hope that this place stays long term - it wasnt super crowded when I came by and I worry that they are trying to juggle too many things all at once, but for now, Im going to enjoy what they have and recommend this place as highly as I possibly can since I love it and I want it to become my go-to place in Sunnyvale. :)

i come back here regularly for the burgers. i dont drink, but my friends that do appreciate the beer menu; a buddy that lived in Germany for a while liked that the waitress didnt blink when he ordered some weird German cocktail of beer with a shot of soda in it. for a while they seemed to be perpetually understaffed, just one or two servers short of what you needed for speedy service, but they seem to have worked out their schedule and service is reasonable now. the burgers are a good size without feeling ridiculous, the meat is good (beef or lamb!), and the fries and onion rings are proper. the sausage sandwich menu is mixed: some of them are big and good, some are smaller and a bit on the bland side (start with the smoked kielbasa and then explore).

At first, when we walked by, we thought that we should just continue walking. But tired (we had been driving and been out all day) we gave it a shot. What a great idea it turned out to be! We got excellent service from the staff. The food was not super advanced, yet we got to taste a lot of different things. I can really recommend the Dead Mans burger together with a Dead Mans beer. When we finished eating, we continued to get some more beers and had a really great night. Next time im in the area, I will come here again.

The food here wasnt bad and I imagine youd have better luck if you ate meat. Hamburgers and sausage sandwiches with an assortment of toppings looked really good. I was pretty confused by the service situation as the bartenders were complaining most of the time, sitting on their phones and not acknowledging customers. That put a big damper on the experience. Beer list is decent and they serve in 1Liter glasses which is pretty rad. Plus theres a lot of outdoor space which is great on a sunny day in Sunnyvale.

This place does have potential but they really need to get organized. Last time we were there (Saturday night), it seemed like one waitress was doing the work for the entire restaurant. The place is cozy and good for a group of people to sit and relax. However, the food is not worth the price, the service is very slow and disorganized, and the waitress forgot one of our orders. I hope they train they staff properly and assign them tables, very awkward having 3 different girls waiting our table.

Do not be fooled by the outfits. These girls are well trained thieves. They will ask for your card upon entering and you will never have one person waiting your table all the time. Instead they will have multiple people help you and confuse the truth of what you ordered. After returning home I found out that I was hit up for 3 charges that I never did or have a receipt towards. Ripped off by the torn stocking bandits

I was very confused by the place. It seemed like it did not have a singular theme as to what it was supposed to be. When we walked in there was a bartender and what appeared to be a drunk waitress. While super friendly it appeared that she was off her game. While I am from out of town I think that $45 for a "premium" beer pitcher is excessive. You wouldnt even pay that at the raiders game.

I grew up down the street from this joint and never ever came here because it was a known biker bar full of hooligans (omg, so sorry to all my homeboys from the OG who kicked it here back in the day!). Today, Summer and her awesome crew of very cute and hip 20 somethin year old female bartenders, have transformed this place into a chill place to kick back and enjoy beer and hookah.
